i cant speak for all guys, but id assume the ones who do all those things are afraid of committment, and they dont want to hurt your feelings so they just tell you what you want to hear. im not saying thats right at all, but you have to remember guys mature much later than girls, epecially mentally/emotionally. they will up. theres no doubt about that. you just have to be careful and kind of expect those things, you know? until the right guy comes along and proves you wrong.
