But , she did what she had to do and packed her bags with little complaint. After the big move, she finds her world to be totally upside down. she was now popular and found new intrests in things like cheerleading and photography. And to think, if she hadn't moved, if she hadn't over slept just that one morning, she would have never met West.

    chapter two:
Or, maybe it did. West didn't talk to me much, but we talked, and every time my face grew red and I stuttered on my words. I could not help it. It was like I was under a spell, not that i minded, he was very attractive, and there was no denying that and he was actually pretty sweet. The best part, I might actually have a chance. I was in the running for cheer captain, and i had classes with him. Every thing was going my way.
well, almost. I had about three hours to get these photos printed for the office, and scanned into the computer there. i figured being new, would give me the advantage. My first articlel was about all the different 'clicks'. It's a little cliché but I had to admit it was pretty good, kind of funny too. The entire time I was writing all i could imagine was the cafeteria scence ending with " and the greatest people you will ever meet"
So, after eighth period i almost ran to my truck it was growing closer to four and it was a twenty minute drive to the office. I stoped at the closest cvs on the way, knowing they had instant prints. i was so impacient, i stood restlest waiting for the pictures to spit out. and when they did I jumped. i threw them into my work folder, rushing. I paid as quickly as I could and I was out.
And from behind me, I did not even hear West shout.
" Hey, Boston. I think you dropped these!!" then once more "SAVANNAH"
with no reply West picked up the pictures that fell, along with my work card the fell out of the front of my folder.
The first picture was one of me, I wasn't plannign on using it.The next was one of him. One of the ones I took of him the first day. Both were extremely embarassing. Even though he looked good. And finally he looked at my work card. The adress and phone number both there.
And you would never know what showed up on my desk the next day.

    Black and White Balloons
    chapter one:
I felt like a shinny new penny. At lunch I was asked to sit with some of the popular girls, and guys had walked up and asked me my name, or wanted me to work with them in class. I wasn't use to this. Back home i was a quite girl, I minded my own business and no one bothered me. I was the farthest thing from popular and the last time i had a boyfriend I was in ninth grade. Well, one that counted anyway.
I was pretty. I mean, I felt pretty. It was weird. i never really appreciated my petite structure, or the way my dirty blonde hair framed my face. I usually didn't wear make-up but today i did. I liked it. It was different. I needed different. Now seemed like a good time.
At lunch some of the girls I sat with were talking about the cheerleading tryouts the following week, i told them I use to do gymnastics and they were ecstatic. Apparently they needed tumblers. today just kept getting better. We laughed through the entire lunch as they told me about the teachers and other students. Thats when I learned of West.
He was a shoe in for captain of this years varsity football team. He was tall, close to six foot if not already. He had dark drown hair and an adorable dimple on his left cheek whenever he smiled. And his body was I understood why everyone awed over him. He was a cutie. And he was walking towards us.
Ever girl at the table straitened up and fixed there hair, without realizing it i did too. As he came closer the girls giggled, wondering what he wanted.
    "hi, its Savannah right ?"
In shock i turned to face him, confused on why he was talking to me.
    "yeah, hi"
    " where ya' from?
    " Boston."
" hmm, well i just wanted to introduce myself, I'm West"
" Well, thank you. It was nice meeting you" I couldnt help but laughing. I sounded so formal, and helplessly award. And with that he walked away, but he didn't make it half way across the room until he turned around and shouted.
" Hey Boston, will i see you around?" i simply nodded and turned around. i was definitly blushing and ever girl at that table looked at me a little strange until one to them broke out .
"oh my god, you are like the luckiest girl alive."
"what do you mean, that didnt mean anything."
That day I took three pictures, two of which discreetly included West.

Why would she want to move to Minnesota? What is there in Minnesota? Nothing, there is nothing in Minnesota. Of course i would never say that to my mother's face though.
I got frustrated easily trying to flip through the news paper trying to find a job. There were a lot of things like dog walking and dry cleaning, but who am i to take a job like that? I would be miserable. i could se my self now.. staring at the clock counting the minutes until i was done. i just could not do it. And i was so close to giving up when my eyes locked on a small box on the last page.
    "new YOUNG journalist needed. "
PERFECT! this was perfect. i almost jumped up and cried for joy. I love to write and I've taken journalism in school sense seventh grade.- Although Minnesota didn't have journalism.- oh well, that didn't matter, because Minnesota had this job.
i quickly dialed the number on the add. A woman answered "Hello?"
I was so nervous "Hi, I'm Savannah. i just saw your add in the news paper. i was wondering about the job opening?"
"oh! Yes, yes. How old are you Savannah?"
    "I'm 16."
    "Perfect, do you have experience"
"Not really, I've been taking classes for four years though."
"OH! That's wonderful! How about you stop by this afternoon around three"
    "uhm, sure"
    "have a nice day"
    "you too!"
i can admit it was a little strange, but maybe that's how they did things here, over the phone.
    ******
I arrived at the small office promptly at 2:55. I was trying not to be too early. The walls were a comforting purple color , and the whole office was very modern and professional. But i didnt have to long to profile the face before a bald man walked out of a back room in to the main office area.
    "You Savannah"
"Yes, i am" I tried so hard to be professional and not laugh at his over the top suit and pink pocket hanky.
"Good. I'm not gonna ask too many questions. You look like a good girl. And were desperate. Im Jacob, your new boss. Here, take this and I need five pictures, and an article. By Wednesday at four."
    "i uh-"
"Were starting a new column ' through the eyes of the youth' I expect something good. We'll talk about you pay when you hand in your article Wednesday. Feel free to use the office. But not now. shoo!"
    "thank you"
    "SHOO!"
i was frazzled, scrambling out of the office. When i was out the door i stared a the expensive camera in my hands. i knew nothing about taking pictures. What was i going to do?
