Agree. Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; it is an abomination.---Leviticus 18:22
If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.--Leviticus 20:13
Just what's written in the Bible.

Omygosh you can take anything out of context and make it say what you want to. God hates adultery, therfore these are trying to aviod adultery. He is also supposed to repent of his sin, change his way, and get his act together. And it has nothing against her divorcing him. So yeah..

So the girl is supposed to just accept it and marry a man who her? It says in the bible that husbands are superior over their wives, so I would guess that she's just stuck that way.

A man is suppposed to value his wife and exalt her as if she was on a pedastal, and the woman is supposed to be submissive. And this was 4000 some years ago, times were different.

As I recall, it's still in the new testament. You can't pick and chose what you want from marriage, then tell gays they can't be married.
International Standard Version (©2012)
Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands as to the Lord.

NET Bible (©2006)
Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord,

Aramaic Bible in Plain English (©2010)
Wives, be subject to your husbands as to Our Lord,

GOD'S WORD® Translation (©1995)
Wives, place yourselves under your husbands' authority as you have placed yourselves under the Lord's authority

If you don't believe in gay marriage because of what the bible says, then you should believe all of the bible, not just the little parts you like and are useful to you.

Not trying to accuse you of being against gay people, because i have some religious friends that are okay with it. I'm just stating this because of the topic of the quote.

I was talking about the verse, about marrying a rapist. I understand the context of your verses... and wasnt taling about them... And I try to love everyone, I would never hate someone due to sexuality, gender, race, ect.

ForeverStronger · 1 decade ago on quote 6702987
I think you misinterpreted my post. I meant to show that I don't think women would even have the power to divorce their husbands since they are below them. So they'd technically be forced to marry the man that rap.ed them. Don't apologize for being snobbish, you really weren't being one. Trust me when I say I won't call you a snob for what you say. Do you think gay marriage should be legal?
thumbs up 0 thumbs down reply

GodsGurllyyGurl · 1 decade ago on quote 6702987
You're right, I read that completly wrong. And, in my oppinion, it shouldnt be legal. But I dont hate gay people or anything like that
thumbs up 0 thumbs down reply

ForeverStronger · 1 decade ago on quote 6702987
So out of curiosity, why? As in, why do you think it should be illegal?
thumbs up 0 thumbs down reply

GodsGurllyyGurl · 1 decade ago on quote 6702987
Well, it's a sin. Because I believe God hates sin, I also believe He wouldnt like for people to get married to a person of the same gender. I understand it doesnt affect(or effect :/ ) me, but I still think its a sin, and dont think the law should help people to sin.

What if a religion contradicted with yours? Let's say my religion said that... It was a sin to read. Would you respect my religion and never read the bible, or would you keep your own religion in tact?

GodsGurllyyGurl · 1 decade ago on quote 6702987
No problem. And religions will contridict each other, but I think people should follow the ten comandments and God's law. I mean, a people can do whatever they please, but I also think the "wages of sin are death" (Rom 6:23) and really I dont want anyone to go to hell."But the gift from God is eternal life" (Rom 6:23), so frankly I really want people to see there sin and repent of it, I want everyone to recieve this free eternal life, and I think part of being a christian is trying to follow these rules. Not because I have to but because I want to. Like I think my morals are right, which isnt intended to sound biggoted or arrogant, I just think I'm right.

ForeverStronger · 1 decade ago on quote 6702987
To better understand the ten commandments and what you're saying, I copied and pasted a list.
"I am the Lord, your God." What if a person doesn't believe in god? Are you saying that they need to be held by law to believe in him?
"Thou shall bring no false idols before me." This kind of brings me back to my previous comment of not believing in god.
"Do not take the name of the Lord in vain." If you held people by law not to say things as in "God dang it" or something, you'd take away the right of Freedom of speech.
"Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy." Brought back to the not believing in the religion point. This is kind of saying to go to church on Sunday, right? Are you saying that people should be held by law to go to church?
"Honor thy father and thy mother." What if their parents are, for lack of better words, jerks? Should people honor someone who abuses them, or neglects them?
"Thou shall not kill/murder" Okay, this one I do agree with, but it's already a law so... haha
"Thou shall not commit adultery." If I'm correct and "adultery" means not to be sexually involved with someone besides your spouse, then I slightly agree, but I wouldn't throw someone in jail for it. It's not really my business how a marriage turns out.
"Thou shall not steal" Agreed, but it's already a law, so let's continue down the line..
"Thou shall not bear false witness against your neighbor" It depends on how this is interpreted. For example, if they are making an accusation like "he stole my watch" then I believe that's against the law, and you could be sued for false accusation, but if it was something like "She's a natural blonde, not brunette" then what would you do? Would you lawfully charge someone of a crime by stating this?
"Thou shall not covet your neighbor's wife (or anything that belongs to your neighbor)." The meaning of "covet" is to wish to have something. How would you enforce this as a law without reading people's minds? It's in the definition that you wish to have it, but it doesn't say you forced them to give it to you.

Sorry that it's sooo long of a comment haha. I was just trying to cover all 10 commandments that you're speaking of.

GodsGurllyyGurl · 1 decade ago on quote 6702987
Well, for the first few, I believe God is real, and alive, and I believe all people should worship and respect Him. I dont expect anyone to go to church, especially if they dont acknowledge Gods existance, but I still think it would be good for people to go to church. For honoring your mom and dad, I feel like all people should be treated with respect. All of these commandments boil down to loving God above all things and loving our neighbors as our selves. If you love someone, its pretty hard to not respect them, and I believe everyone deserves repect. Along with respect, comes not taking Gods name in vain. I also think you disrespect your own body by having sexual realtionships out side of marriage, so I disagree with that as well, and find adulturey to be a sin. Now for not bearing false testimony, I believe this as in, you shouldnt lie. Lastly, I do believe we should be contempt with what we have and not envious. I understand that you cant read peoples minds, I believe theses are standards and rules for someone to personally feel and be obligated to. The most important part is just to love God and our neighbors*
* by neighbors I mean all people, and those you interact with
thumbs up 0 thumbs down reply

ForeverStronger · 1 decade ago on quote 6702987
No worries, I know what you mean by neighbors. Do you know the first amendment of the United States Constitution? It basically states that people have the right to have or not to have a religion, and that America is a place where there is no single religion that is viewed as correct, or above any other religions. It also states separation of church and state, which basically means the government cannot change your religion, and that you cannot change the government by rules in your religion. Do you think that this should be abolished, or removed from the constitution so your religion becomes the law of the land? (Just to clear things up, you stated that you think all people should follow the ten commandments, and it states that you should not put any other god above him, and he is your only lord, therefore it's basically saying only to follow his word. If you believe all people should follow the ten commandments, then it loops around to "everyone should only follow the bible")

GodsGurllyyGurl · 1 decade ago on quote 6702987
I dont think this ammendment should be abolished. I wish everyone would understand my God, and His mercy, and I wish everyone would accept His pardon, but I mean if someone doesnt want to believe in my God, they wont.

ForeverStronger · 1 decade ago on quote 6702987
You're kind of contradicting yourself. The first and second commandment states that you must believe in him and only him, and put no one else above him. So basically, the first amendment says you have a right to or not to believe in any religion you wish. Aeithism, for example, is the belief that there is no god. If they accepted the first and second comandment, then they wouldn't be atheist. Believing in god means you believe he exists, and some people don't. Atheists (again, just using them as an example) would find it difficult to accept the pardon of someone they don't believe exists.

I'm sorry, I dont think I was clear, I think that all people should follow these rules, but by choice, not by being forced. Obviously if you dont believe in God, you wont start, if you are forced to believe in Him (if that makes sense)

Christians are murdered every day for being christians, due to lack of freedom of religion. That was my point
thumbs up 0 thumbs down reply

ForeverStronger · 1 decade ago on quote 6702987
People are murdered everyday for who they are. But my point was, how does it make sense to use the argument that "being gay is a sin in the bible, so it should be illegal" but you believe in freedom of religion, where it states the religion and state are separate, and you can choose your own religion, or not to have a religion. People are killed for being gay, for being Muslim, black, boy, girl, it doesn't matter what you are, someone out there is going to try to kill you because of what you believe.

I understand the first amendment. I dont thin anyone should be hurt or hated. That doesnt mean I have to agree with gay marriage. Hate the sin, love the sinner
thumbs up 0 thumbs down reply

ForeverStronger · 1 decade ago on quote 6702987
Your argument stated that gay marriage should be illegal because it goes against your religion, correct? <-- If you say that is true, then you are interfering with the first amendment: Freedom of religion, separation of church and state. If you say that you don't agree with gay marriage because of something else, then what is it? I'm kind of confused as to why you're against it. Cute quote by the way. "Hate the sin, love the sinner" it's nice and sweet.
