PS I Love You Day 2012
Dear everybody(:
On April 23, 2010, I, Brooke, lost my best friend, my father, to suicide. My dad drove me to school that morning and as I got out of his car, he said "I Love You" and I said "I Love You" back as I quickly shut the door in a rush to school. My father was a man who was always smiling, laughing, and was very involved in the community. Just one month and a day before I lost my dad, our town lost a high school senior to suicide also. Both these suicides brought our town together and made each person realize just how truly precious life is. However, "Tragedy should not be the force for togetherness, Togetherness should be the force that ends tragedies." Therefore, instead of going into the darkness after my family's tragedy, I created "P.S. I Love You Day", a day in which I ask everyone to WEAR PURPLE to represent standing up against bullying! This day is every second Friday of February. My Class of 2014 of WIHS has gotten this day to be fully successful at our High School to assure that tragedies like this will not happen again. We hope that on this day, February 10, 2012, "P.S. I Love You Day", we will help end bullying, help end depression, and ultimately prevent suicide. We want to make sure each person knows, whether you're the most social person in your school or the person who is shy, you're absolutely amazing, needed in this world, and loved. When you walk into school, or your workplace, or even just around town on February 10, 2012, we hope that you walk into a sea of purple and know that you're never alone. On the week of the Feb. 6th-10th, purple ribbons will be sold in all lunch periods for $1 to support Suicide Prevention and the Class of 2014 to help fundraise for further events such as this. When you click attend, you are saying that no matter where you are in the world you will wear purple and tell everyone that that you are wearing purple because you are against bullying, want to end depression, and prevent suicide. Please invite more friends to this event, even relatives or friends in different towns, states, or countries to spread this message and make this day known. We hope this day will be even more successful than last year♥ The more love we can spread, the less bullying will occur, and the more lives we can save! Thank you for your support!
P.S. I Love You♥
