Hello Witty. It seems like you've stumbled across my profile. Fantastic! The name's Jackie. I had accounts before this... A layout, and fanart, and a personal account, but those didn't quite work out. I've been on Witty for quite some time, but I made my first account on May 1st, 2011. My purpose is to write stories and post them for you guys on Witty. I wrote stories on my other account (LilaLove99), but I wanted an account JUST for my stories. I figured I would escape some of the general hate on Witty if I stopped making quotes. I doubt you really want to know about me, so I'll just put some stuff I like :)

My favorite quote is "Imagine if you woke up tomorrow... with only what you had thanked God for today." I've spent a long time thinking about that quote. I love it, because it gives you a new way of seeing things. My other favorite quote is "You're never too young to love. Why? Because you're never too young to die. Love while you can, with no regrets, because you might not get to live to love tomorrow." I love that one because I've been in love before. I know it. And people tell me that I'm too young to be in love all the timex3

    Not So Normal
    •Chapter Six•
    Kaitlin’s Point Of View.
After I second, I became weak, and I fell in a heap on the floor, but I never lost consciousness. I was able to keep Kaelyn in my arms, and she smiled a goofy grin. I ignored her and focused back on the situation. Aunt Lisa suddenly jerked into action. It only took her a few steps before she vanished into her room. She emerged a second later with her phone pressed to her ear.
“Yes, I think my brother just had—I—he—”
I knew the words she meant to say were lost in the adrenaline rushing through her body. She took a deep breath.
“My brother just passed out on the floor. Please, come quickly,” she gasped, her shaking hands barely gripping the phone. After a pause, she gave her address and hung up the phone. She sunk down to the floor, where I was still sitting.
“They’re coming,” she said slowly and quietly, not directly to me. I took a moment to take in her expression. She looked like she was in a trance. Her face was pale, and her knuckles were clenched. Her mouth was slightly open, and her whole personality was gone. She looked at me, and a bit of expression returned to her face. I could tell she didn’t like me seeing her in her current emotional state.
“The ambulance is on its way,” she told me, and a bit of color returned to her face and knuckles. “The man I talked to told me not to do anything. He said that in your father’s state, anything could change something vital.”
I nodded, and she stood up slowly. She held out a hand to me, and I took it, balancing Kaelyn in my other arm. No sooner had we gotten downstairs than we heard police sirens. A minute later, we held open the doors to two doctors, followed by two men carrying a stretcher.
“Where is he?” one of the doctors asked urgently, and Aunt Lisa gave him directions to the room where my father was located. The four men ran up the stairs, and a fifth man walked briskly into the house. He directed me and Aunt Lisa to stand outside by the ambulance unless we wanted to follow the ambulance to the hospital. Aunt Lisa and I turned off the over, loaded her car, and drove until we were behind the ambulance. We watched as my dad was loaded into the ambulance on the stretcher, and we followed him closely to the hospital.
By the time we got to the hospital, all of the color had returned to Aunt Lisa’s face. We sat in a waiting room for hours, playing with Kaelyn and eating hospital food. A man came out to the waiting room and looked at us.
“You must be Kaitlin and Lisa?” he asked.
“Obviously,” I muttered under my breath, because there wasn’t anyone else in the room.
“Yes,” Aunt Lisa said, standing up. I followed her lead as the man started talking.
“Your brother is going to have to stay here for the night. We’re going to run some tests, and see if we can figure out what’s going on. It’s too early to know how sever the problem is,” the man said to Aunt Lisa.
Aunt Lisa looked disappointed, but she just nodded and lead me out of the hospital. It was going to be a very long night.

    Not So Normal
    •Chapter Five•
    Kaitlin’s Point Of View.
I slowly stepped out of the shower and reached for the washcloth on the sink. After a few minutes of attempting to dry off with the small rag, I put on the clothes that I had worn all day. I sighed, then sprinted out to the hallway. I grabbed the towel and raced back, collapsing on the inside of the door in relief that Aunt Lisa hadn’t been upstairs. Wrapping the towel around myself, I made my way downstairs. I saw my purple duffel bag out of the corner of my eye, and I rummaged through it before pulling out a complete outfit. I ran into the downstairs bathroom and changed, then wrapped the towel around my wet hair. When I came out of the bathroom, I shoved my dirty clothes into the duffel and walked calmly into the kitchen, where Aunt Lisa was playing peek-a-boo with Kaelyn.
“Look, it’s your Mommy!” Aunt Lisa said excitedly to Kaelyn. Smiling, I picked Kaelyn up from Aunt Lisa’s hands and plopped down on the couch next to Aunt Lisa.
“Your dad should be here any minute,” Aunt Lisa said, picking up the TV remote and searching the channels for What Not To Wear. “What do you want for dinner?” she asked me, settling for Cake Boss.
“Anything works,” I responded politely, bouncing Kaelyn on my knee.
A car horn honked in the driveway, making us jump.
“Your dad’s here!” Aunt Lisa smiled, making her way over to the front door. She held the door open for me, and followed me outside to meet my dad. He gave Aunt Lisa a huge hug, and then nodded his head at me slightly. I knew why he didn’t hug me. It was because I was holding Kaelyn, and he didn’t want Kaelyn alive. He was a lot like Cole, but he made me keep Kaelyn after we found out I was pregnant. I knew that he had tried to support me, but I could tell that he didn’t want Kaelyn in the family.
As soon as we had hauled my dad’s luggage into Aunt Lisa’s house, she started cooking lasagna. My dad went up to take a shower, and I continued watching Cake Boss with Kaelyn.
Aunt Lisa popped the lasagna in the oven, and then joined me on the couch. We talked for a while, about everything. I told her about Kaelyn’s milestones, and she told me about her new job. We had been talking for half an hour when we heard a large thud upstairs.
“Nathan?” Aunt Lisa called hesitantly up the stairs. “Are you all right?”
When my dad didn’t answer, we rushed upstairs, two steps at a time. We dashed down the hall to the room that my dad always stayed in, and I ran into Aunt Lisa when she stopped suddenly in the doorway. I peered over her head, and nearly fainted at the sight of my dad, near death, on the floor of the room.

    Not So Normal
    •Chapter Four•
    Kaitlin’s Point Of View.
Three days later, I drove up to New York with Kaelyn. After a few nights of staying with my aunt, Lisa, I was going to go to Cole’s funeral. His whole family lived in New York, so it just seemed right to have the funeral there.
I arrived at my aunt’s home at about six in the evening. My aunt must have heard my car pull up, because she met me in the driveway. My aunt was like my second mother. She was a crazy forty-nine-year-old with the energy level of a ten-year-old.
“Hey!!” she smiled, running toward me.
“Hey Aunt Lisa!” I said as she reached to help me with my bags. I slung a large backpack over my shoulder and got Kaelyn out of the car.
    Aunt Lisa gasped.
“Oh, she’s so adorable!” Aunt Lisa beamed as I passed Kaelyn into her free arm.
“Well aren’t you just a darling little baby,” Aunt Lisa smiled, gently rocking Kaelyn back and forth in her arms. Aunt Lisa had seen pictures, but she had never actually seen Kaelyn in person. After all, I had only had Kaelyn home for a few weeks.
“Well, I guess we should head inside,” Aunt Lisa said, and I followed her through the garage and into her house.
“Wow! You’ve done some serious redecorating in here!” I laughed, looking around the house. I hadn’t been to her house in about a eight months, and it seemed like she had used those eight months to completely renovate her house.
“Yeah… I had an interior decorator come,” Aunt Lisa smiled, leading me up the winding staircase to the second floor.
“You’ll probably want a shower before your dad gets here, I assume?” Aunt Lisa looked back over her shoulder as she walked me to a bathroom. I smiled and nodded, and Aunt Lisa returned the smile.
“Well, you know how to work the shower—oh! Let me go get you a towel!” Aunt Lisa walked out the door, and I followed her to her linen closet.
“Here you are, Aunt Lisa said, handing me a towel. “I’ll take Kaelyn for you while you shower,” Aunt Lisa said thoughtfully.
I put down my towel and handed Kaelyn over to Aunt Lisa.
“Oh! And here is… shampoo, conditioner, and... soap,” Aunt Lisa stated as she handed over the two bottles and the bar of soap.
“Thanks, Aunt Lisa!” I said, walking into the bathroom. I turned on the water and undressed as I waited for the shower to heat up. When I stepped in a few minutes later, the water was perfect. I cleaned myself and washed my hair, not letting my mind wander from the tune of the song I was humming.
Ten minutes later, I turned the shower water off and pulled open the shower curtains. Reaching for my towel, a thought occurred to me that made my heart leap into my throat. I had left my towel down the hallway.
My mind wandered the options. There really weren’t any.
“I can NOT call Aunt Lisa.” I thought stubbornly. ”I am not having her come in here and hand me a towel.”
Minutes passed. Suddenly, a small blaze of emerald green caught my attention from the sink counter. I quickly realized that it was a small washcloth.
”You have no choice,” I told myself. And I knew what I was going to have to do, however embarrassing it may be.

    Not So Normal
    •Chapter Three•
    Kaitlin’s Point Of View.
Kaelyn woke up at the sound of crying, and she joined in on the fun. I gently pulled her from her crib and patted her back as I walked through the house and to the garage. I pulled out of the garage in my white Lexus, with Kaelyn half-asleep in her car seat. Ten minutes later, I pulled into the local police station parking lot. Inside the building, I was greeted by a tough-looking man in a cop suit.
“You must be Kaitlin Cressman?” he said. His words created a statement with a questioning flair. I nodded, and after showing him my driver’s license, he led me to a wooden desk. Behind the desk was seated a large woman with glasses balanced on the tip of her nose.
“This is Kaitlin Cressman,” the officer told the woman. “She’s come for information about Cole Rightman.”
The woman nodded and used her feet to maneuver herself, in her chair, to a file cabinet. She retrieved a manila envelope marked: [Cole Rightman, Virginia Beach, VA.]
She spun her chair back to the desk and opened the files. As she was flipping through the many papers, she asked me, “What relation are you of to Cole?”
    I gulped.
“He was my boyfriend,” I answered. “And the father of my child.”
The woman nodded and continued flipping pages.
“Ah,” she said, pulling out a sheet of crisp, slightly yellowed paper.
“Cole Rightman committed suicide on April 5th, 2011. According to our resources, it was around 11:00 at night.”
I felt a tear slide down my cheek. The woman continued.
“Rightman had shot himself twice in the heart when officers found him dead. Police and other authorities are keeping then place of the suicide private until further investigations have taken place.”
As she read on and on, the truth of the matter hit me like a ton of bricks: my life, or Kaelyn’s life, would never be the same again.

    Not So Normal
    •Chapter Two•
    Kaitlin’s Point Of View.
Cole and I hadn’t talked since the sandwich incident. It had been four days, and he was still avoiding me at all costs. I wanted to brush off his immaturity, but I couldn’t. As much as he didn’t need me, I needed him. He was the father of my child. Whether I liked it or not, he was going to be a part of my life forever.
I brushed the thought out of my mind and sat up in bed. Cole’s side of the bed wasn’t made, but he wasn’t in the room. I glanced over at Kaelyn. She was still sleeping, so I turned on a baby monitor and sat it beside her crib. I grabbed the matching monitor, turned it on, and walked out into the kitchen. After setting my monitor down on the kitchen counter, I poured myself a cup of caramel hot chocolate. I nibbled at a golden apple as I skimmed through the news. My heart stopped as I came across an article: Teen Commits Suicide In Virginia Beach. I choked on my apple as I read the article about the now-dead seventeen-year-old, complete with a picture of Cole. Cole. My Cole. My boyfriend Cole. The father of my daughter Cole.
Surely this can’t be right, I thought in shock, as I grabbed the phone and dialed my dad’s number. He picked up right away.
    “Hello?”
“Dad! Have you seen Cole today?” I asked, my voice quivering.
“No, why?” my dad asked, a sincere concern in his voice that I hadn’t heard since Kaelyn was born.
“Never mind. He’s probably at the grocery store,” I lied, trying to maintain a level tone of voice.
“All right,” my dad responded. “See you later. I’ll be home tonight at around seven. I’m staying at work an extra hour to help with a conference set-up.”
“’Kay, Dad. See ya,” I said. I slammed down the phone and read over the news article once more. Sweat dripped down my forehead, and a thin layer of sweat covered the palms of my hands. My eyes started to water as I called the local police. I asked them about Cole. A teardrop dripped down my cheek as the police officer gave me the information that I had asked for. I thanked him, hung up the phone, and ran into my room to get Kaelyn. Something stopped me as I ran into the room. There was a yellow piece of paper taped to Cole’s bedside table. I got closer and read it.
    ”Dear Kaitlin,
By the time you read this, I won’t be here to give you the support you need. I’m sorry for all the trouble I’ve caused you. I just want you to know that I think you should keep Kaelyn. Let her be one last thing to remind you of me. I really love you, Kaitlin. I do. And I’m sorry that I can’t be here to say it one more time.
    With love,
    Cole Rightman”
Tears poured down my face. My whole world was falling apart.

    Not So Normal
    •Chapter One•
    Kaitlin’s Point Of View.
I sat in the living room cradling my new baby girl in my arms.
Kaelyn Amelia Cressman, a voice in the back of my head sang. The name was soothing to me. I stroked the tiny hairs on Kaelyn’s head, whispering soft lullabies in her miniature ears. Her soft, tiny breaths soothed my soul, and I took some deep breaths, resting my head on the ottoman behind where I was seated on the floor of my dad’s living room. My serenity was interrupted by the front door swinging open with gusto, and then slamming shut. I sighed and stood up, still holding Kaelyn. I walked into the kitchen to see my boyfriend, Kaelyn’s father, angrily spreading mayonnaise onto a piece of bread. I bit my tongue to keep from smiling, or at least smirking, at the situation in front of me. But smiling would only get me hit with expletives. And fists.
“Hey, babe,” I said, being careful not to show emotion in my voice.
Cole took one look at me and scoffed.
“You’d better not be getting too attached to that thing,” he said, gesturing at Kaelyn, who was asleep in my arms.
I rolled my eyes. Cole never wanted for me to have a child. He was hoping that by some miracle, the pregnancy test would turn out negative. And when it didn’t, he had wanted abortion. But I begged him to keep the child. Now that Kaelyn’s alive, he wants us to put her up for adoption.
“She’s a girl, not a thing,” I reminded him. “And we’re keeping her.”
“Whatever.” It was Cole’s turn to roll his eyes. “Just leave.”
I walked slowly back into the living room and resumed my position in front of the ottoman.
“Make me a sandwich?” I called into the kitchen.
“Get your own God damn sandwich,” Cole breathed angrily, whisking his plate into our shared bedroom. I sighed and said nothing, continuing to stroke Kaelyn’s soft hair.
