Half Of My Heart:
Chapter Two: Just A Dream...
As we shoved ourluggage into the trunk of the white BMW convertible, (a rental, sadly,) Rachel and I were in a daze. We couldn't believe that we had been in the midst of Justin Bieber and Ryan Butler. "But why did you girls take so long to get to me?" My mom asked, confused. "I called at least five times! You could have at least told me you were stopping for coffee. I understand the lines in Starbucks do take forever." "I don't remember my phone ringing mom, sorry, but...you didn't call." I answered, sounding a bit more b*tchy than I wanted to. "Caroline Elizabeth, don't you give me that attitude..." Rachel sighed in the backseat and fixed her makeup. She was used to my mom and I fighting. "Look mom, I will check my phone right now. You didn't call." I reached into my pocket. Empty. Other pocket. Empty again. I rummaged through my carry-on bag, my purse, even Rachel's bags. Gone. "Where did you last see it?" Asked Rachel, trying to be helpful. "I had out it in Starbucks when I realized we had to meet my mom. I checked the time on my phone.." Gone. My phone was gone.

My mom had reserved the hotel room down the hall so she wouldn't "Cramp our style." Alright. Rachel took the courtesy of exploring the hotel room, while I sat around and moped. "What's wrong?" Rachel asked, obviously not fazed by my problem. I grunted in reply. She sighed and rolled her eyes. "You'll find your phone! It's not that big of a deal! Besides, we're in paradise now! You have to chill out! Let's just sit down, and-" Rachel was interupted by my mom walking into our room with a load of bags. She groaned jokingly. "Jeez! You would think that you girls packed bricks or something!" She came further into the room and sat on the bed across from us. "Why so glum, chum?" Rachel giggled. She was used my mom being awkward. "So..." My mom started off her little conversation. "As you girls know, this is an all-inclusive resort. You can do anything you want at any time. There are many activities and resturants that you girls can hang out at, and not to mention the pools and beaches! Just wear sunscreen, you guys.." Rachel and I looked at eacother and squeed in delight. Suddenly, a cell phone rang. I jumped up and frantically ran about the room, trying to find where it was coming from. "Hello?" I heard from behind me. I turned around, and it was my mom answering her phone. I sat down, discouraged, on the side of the bed and sighed. "Karls, we'll find your phone.." Rachel said, trying to make me feel better. We listened into my mom's conversation. a worried look grew on her face.
"But we just landed...I understand-can't it wait?...Yeah....mhmmm...yeah...I know how that is, Janice! Okay fine...that's fine...I guess I'll see you soon. Bubye now."
When she hung up the phone, she looked distraught. "What's wrong?" Rachel and I asked, almost in unison. "Girl's, I'm really sorry, but I have to go back to Long Island. An emergency came up at the firm, and they threatened that I could lose my job if I don't go back. "Sooo...What's going to happen with us?" Rachel asked, with a worried look on her face. My mom hesitated. "I'm not sure yet. I'm just going to step outside and make some calls, and we'll figure this whole thing out. You girls lay down and have a snack. It's been a long flight."

Half an hour and half a box of Cheez-its later, My head is pounding. It seems like everyone on the universe is screaming his name in my ears. It's beating to the rythym of the blood pulsating in my ears. I couldn't tell if it was my heart or my head that was aching. Am I lovesick, or do I have a concussion? It must have been lovesickness, because when the newslady on TV announced that Justin Bieber was staying at the Atlantis resort, I jumped on the bed with Rachel and screamed with joy. Lovesickness.... No...scratch that. Bieber fever.
Just thought I'd point out...Karlie's real name is Caroline...Karlie is her nickname, as well as 'Karls,' as Rachel calls her:)
How do you guys like it so far?
