Lights
Chapter one
"Rise and shine buttercup."
My mom turned on my light. I sighed. Another day of pure torture.
"I'm not feeling well mom." I lie. "Can I stay home?" my mom crosses her arms. "Marlee you've been giving me this excuse for the past month almost every day. I thought you loved school."
I reluctantly get up and pick out an outfit. I guess part of the reason people hated me
was because of what I wore, what I looked like.
I didn't own the nicest cloths, I didn't own a flat iron either.
I sighed and put on a pale blue top with boot cut jeans. After I tie my converse, I walk to the bathroom.
All I have to do is brush my hair and teeth. I don't have makeup, but my mom does.
I quickly run to her bathroom and apply some eyeliner and mascara the best I can, this was one of the first
times I had ever put makeup on. I hurried out the door to catch the bus, I didn't want my mom to see.
*************
"What is on your face, Brooks?" Lucy laughed. When she laughed, everyone laughs. "
Nothing." I clench my fist, I was getting tired of her. "You look like a clown." Lucy teased. I've had it. Every single day since the beginning of sixth grade this has been my life.
I think I punched her. The next thing I know she was on the ground. People were gasping all around me. "Freak!" Someone called. "What did you do?!" Another person yelled. I ran off, I didn't make it halfway down the school before the guidence counsler stopped me.
************
I had been sitting in the guidence office for what seemed like hours, probably because it had been hours. The counsler, Mrs. Black, came in.
"What you did was very wrong, Marlee." she frowns.
I can't believe this. What I did was wrong?
"Mrs. Black, if you KNEW what she was doing to me since sixth grade, she would be expelled!" I cry. "She's suspended for a week." She says calmly. "You are also."
*************
I knew that when I got home, my mom would be standing right by the door.
"Marlee, what the heck did you do?!" My mom looked really sad.
"Beginning of sixth grade, Lucy Wirt was having a party, she invited everyone but me. When I asked her, she said it was because I was to fat.
End of sixth grade, She had a pool party. Again she invited everyone but me. I had lost ten pounds, and she said I was still to ugly.
Seventh grade, she found out that I liked a guy named Greg Armur. She took him right when she found out.
Eigth grade, I had my eye on a one of a kind dress for the eigth grade dance. She saw me looking at it and she bought it for herself. Mom she would push me into lockers, throw me on the floor. Here I am, a Sophmore and I had NEVER stood up to her."
I shake my head in disbelief, and walk up to my room.
