Welcome To My Life
Chapter 3
In the morning, I was either lead to the hands of a worse future, or something that will change my life forever in a good way. As my eyes stayed closed, my mind wandered. I dreamt more of the family I imagined. I could feel a real smile curl on my lips. I saw a happy, loving family. It was something I knew that would be hard, but it just might make me better.
When I woke up, I immediately took a shower, brushed my teeth, dried my hair and even straightened it, and then got dressed. I hoped that this family wouldn't mind a girl in worn out Converse, old blue jeans, a laced purple cami, and a black hoodie pulled over it.
I sat on my bed, and just put the picture back in my bag. Once it zipped, the door opened. "Meghan," Marylin said with a smile. "We've got someone to see you."
I somehow couldn't smile. I just stood, and followed her downstairs, and into that interview room.
"Gina, Tom, Jeydon, this is Meghan." she said when she opened the door, and I was looking at the family. The mother was blonde, and a little taller than me. I could see her blue eyes from the doorway. I noticed the father was taller and muscular, with brown hair, and light green eyes.
But the son is what captured me the most. His hair was auburn, and his eyes were emerald green. He looked up at me, and half smiled.
I thought to myself, 'Don't fall for any of the charm yet.' So I sat down, and it all began.
"Now, Meghan has just turned fourteen a few months ago, and she's....been through some rough years. So, I won't mention them now, since..." Marylin motioned her head to their son, Jeydon, who groaned.
"Because I'm here." he mumbled.
The mother, Gina, nodded. "Well, Meghan...do you, like to do anything?"
"Um....yeah I guess."
"Well, like what?"
I was about to answer, but Marylin did for me. "I've noticed that Meghan is a marvelous reader, and she's great with things involving music. She sings, and even plays guitar and piano."
Gina actually smiled, and nodded. "Jeydon actually is in a band. Maybe you can join it, if you'd like."
I actually smiled. "Um...I'll think about that." I muttered.
"Has school, ever been a problem?" Tom, the father asked.
"She has been transferred a few times, but no. She keeps her grades up." Marylin said.
This time, the parents shared a smile.
"Her and Jeydon are both in the same grade, right?" she asked.
They nodded.
"Well, Jeydon, would you mind showing her around, and helping her out?"
He looked away from his feet. "Um...no, I don't mind." he muttered.
His mom smiled, and she said, "Well, Meghan you sound like a really great girl."
"Thank you." I said, actually smiling.
"Now, I need to talk to the parents about paperwork, so why don't you two, go outside, or something like that?" Marylin suggested.
Jeydon sighed, and stood up. I stood as well, and lead him outside.
When we walked out, he asks me, "Is this all little kid stuff?"
"Um no...the older kids kind of...go down that trail, and do drugs and drink."
"What about you?" he asked me.
I stopped infront of the trail, and said, "I just, go down the other part of it. This ten year old, Lisa, and I made this little fort, and we go there to talk, and just...escape."
Jeydon actually looked at me with a surprised expression. "No offense, but you seem like, a loner."
"I kind of am. I don't like to be, but...I am." Tears actually welled in my eyes, and I continued to walk my way, and I tried to wipe my eyes without him seeing.
"D-don't cry." he stuttered. "I'm sorry that I said that."
"N-no it's fine. You need to know about me, anyways."
"Well, can...I ask you something?" Jeydon asked, uneasy.
"You just did." I joked, trying to brighten the mood.
He chuckled. "Well...can I hear you sing? Maybe you can lead the band, since I sing and play lead guitar."
I actually smiled at that. "You just learned my name, and you're asking me to sing?" I asked.
Jeydon smiled at me. His smile felt warm, and calming. "It's better than asking about your deep family secrets. You don't have to tell me that if you don't want to."
I nodded at his response, and took a deep breath.
"When someone said count your blessings now, for they're long gone, I guess I just didn't know how. I was all wrong. They knew, better, still you said forever, and ever, who knew?" I sang.
Jeydon's eyes widened at me. "That's better than Pink...you're really good."
I smiled. "Thank you."
Before he could say anything else, we were stopped by Marylin shouting at us to come back, and we listened.
When we got back, Jeydon's parents were smiling, and asked me, "Would you like to go see your new home?"
My breath was captured in that moment, and I saw that my bag was held, the papers were signed, and soon, I managed to say, "Yes."
