As we were sitting outside by his car, it was a little awkward. I mean I was nervous and he was too. We were just looking at the sky just thinking what to say next.
"So, you still owe me, you know that right?" I said playfully but I meant it.
"Yeah, I know but what do you want?"
"I don't know, you figure that one out."I said with some attitude.
"Alright"
He looked up at the sky again, I knew he was thinking. I could see him playing around with his fingers, being a little tense. He was always shy maybe that's why I liked him so much. The moonlight really captured the glow of his face, but mostly his eyes. I felt like I was staring to much but I couldn't help it, was this night I have been looking forward too?
"Well?" I said
"What, I'm thinking" He said startled
"Well I can see that, I don't got all night and it's cold outside, you got 10 seconds!" I said laughing.
I saw the smirk on his face, he knew what you wanted to give me, but he was unsure about me. This was a make it or break it moment and he wanted to take the risk. He was thinking about what could happen if he took this risk, mostly risking a friendship that didn't have time to develop or the awkwardness of the rejection.
"Alright, fine you had your chance i'm going inside." I said, not sure what else to say
"Wait, your leaving?" He said sadly and a little confused
"Well, I am waiting outside for nothing?"
"No, I mean I still owe you right?"
"Yes you do."
"What do you want?" He said strongly waiting for an answer.
I hesitated
"I think you know."
"No, I actually don't but I think I know what to you give you, a kiss goodnight perhaps?"
With a nod with my head and the words slurred out "yes" the answer came out. It felt like a scene out of a romantic movie, but so much sweeter. With the stars illuminating the sky and the moon casting it's light down on us, it was perfect. That night I will never forget, because that was the night I knew it was true.
