They walked into a high end dance studio with dancers and graffiti all over the place. “Awesome place!” Rosalie shouted excitedly. Eric was already a member of Overbrook Studios. After Rosalie’s try outs to ‘Bad Romance’ she nailed it. They told her they’d call her back. Scott walked in “Impressive.” “Yeah, well.” She smiled. “We should hang out sometime, say Wednesday?” Michael whispered to Eric “Oh my gosh, did he just ask her out?” He was flipping out. “Sure.” They all went home.
“Hey,” Rosalie said to her mom. She was so excited. “How was school? Meet new people? Where were you?” Her mom’s questioning got a little annoying. “Great, yes, and at a dance studio tryout.” She kept a smile. “Great! I’m so happy for you! Invite them over!” Emily hugged Rosalie really tight and Rosalie struggled out of it and went up to her room. Her cell phone rang. It shined Elisa Collins. “Hello?” Rosalie said into the phone. “Hey, it’s Elisa. Look, I have nothing to do right now. I thought maybe we can hang out?” Elisa thought that she might’ve come on too strong, but Rosalie didn’t mind. Elisa was nice. “Yeah, sure. Come over now!” She cheered. “Alright, be there in 5.”
“Rose, there’s someone here for you.” Her mom shouted. She ran downstairs and waved to Elisa. Elisa was wearing a pink flowered shirt with white pants. Yikes. “Hey, follow me.” Rosalie smiled. “Okay..” She followed. They walked into her massive room and Rosalie set Elisa down at her vanity. “You said you wanted to look like those popular girls?” Rosalie smiled. “Yeah, well who doesn’t?” Elisa murmured, “Here’s chestnut dye,” Rosalie handed her a bottle of chestnut dye with a model on the cover covered with a fake smile. “Bring it home and try it out.”
“Really? You bought it for me? Thanks!” Elisa was excited now.
“Yes. Here’s mascara, eyeliner, and eye shadow.” It was old, she didn’t use it anymore. When she was 15 she tried wearing make up. Looked better without it.

“I’m Mr. Silver, Rosalie Stephens?” A tall grey haired man stood in front of her with a mustache that was also grey. “Um, yes.” She looked up. “Okay, I’ll call you Rose.” “Fine with me.” He taught his lesson, which felt like forever. She got her notes and books out and wrote down what she could. Some people were still looking at her. “Class dismissed.” Mr. Silver said and sat down. Everyone ran out of there like there was a free car waiting in the hallway to the first person. “Hi, I’m Julie Moore.” A blonde, thin, blue eyed, girl in pink stood over her. Talk about trouble. “This is Maria Hill and Alison Parker.” Two thin wannabe-like girls stood behind her. Talk about a clique much. “Hi,” she said forcing a smile. “Rosalie Stephens.” “Hi Rose. Welcome, we should hang out some time. You know.. Get to know each other!” Julie turned and the others followed. “Wow..” Was all Rosalie can say.
Eric introduced Rosalie to a few of his friends at lunch. Taylor Lewis, a brunette who loved acting and was so charismatic. Michael Walsh, a brown haired boy who loved art. They all thought he was gay. hey all spoke a little and introduced themselves. “Who’s that? Rosalie pointed to a tall guy with dark hair, green eyes, kind of mysterious looking. “That’s Scott Bell. Legend says he was born dancing. He’s the dancing alpha. Not so interactive. Always by himself.“ Taylor said in a spooky voice. “Really? I love dancing. Are there any studios around here? “Are there any studios around here?“ Eric repeated. “Overbrook is the place for dancing. I mean, I know an exclusive place where Scott goes. I’ll take you after school.” Eric looked around. What was he looking for? “Okay, well I’ll go talk to Scott.” Rosalie whirled around. Michael gasped “No!” “He won’t eat me.” Then walk towards him.
“Hey. I’m Rosalie Stephens, I uh, just moved here from Jersey. I hear you’re the dancing alpha in town. Yeah, back in Jersey I had your title. Anyways, where’s a good studio here?” Little did Rosalie know the whole room was looking at her. All Scott did was laugh. “I’m sorry, am I amusing? Do I have something on my face? What?” Rosalie was now nervous. “Wow, I can tell you’re new, you’re speaking to me.” Scott smiled. He was good looking, did people admire from afar? “Wow, well, should I go? Should I not be speaking to you?” She knew she sounded nervous. “Naah, you can stay. Anyways, the best dancing place is called Overbrook Studios, have your posse over there show you where it is. If you know you can dance, go there. They have to accept you there. But look at you, you have that sweet innocent look. You can’t dance.” He kept chuckling. “I bet I can dance better than you.” She said that a little too loud so the whole room was like “Oooh,” she even heard some people say burn in the background. “You’re on.”
She went back to her table and finished her salad. “I can’t believe you just did that. You’re going to get creamed and humiliated. This guy is good.” Michael bit his nails. “Yeah? Well I’m better.” She smiled. After school everyone met up and they were on their way to the studio. She sent her mom a message that she’d be home late.

Riley was on the dance floor moving to Beyonce, suddenly she was shot. She gasped for air, but fell down. The funny thing was there’s no blood on the floor. Seeing a light, she tried reaching it until she heard “Wake up!” She thought people were trying to save her, until she opened her eyes and her mother was over her. “Get ready for school,” the thought of her being dead on the dance floor was scary, but if she were to die, it’d definitely be in the studio. Rosalie grabbed the straightening iron, skinny jeans, and a T-shirt that writes dance all over it. After straightening her hair, she put on mascara, brushed her teeth, then got into the outfit. She would be known as the ‘dance girl’ just by walking in the school.
“Morning’,” Shia said. He wore a blue T-shirt with a button down shirt over it and jeans. His hair was brushed for the first time. “Looking good, Shia.” Rosalie smiled. “Yeah, you too.” Riley said. Whoa, she was being nice. “Okay, you guys be yourself and be nice. Don’t be known as the bully on your first day. Get to know people, join clubs. Come home safely, if you meet friends, then call if you’re going home with them. “Mom, we’ve been to school before. Don’t try and re-teach us everything. Rosalie shouted. “Sorry, have a good day.”
Rosalie, Shia, and Riley all walked to school. They dropped Riley off at Overbrook Middle. “Ready?” Shia grinned. “Ready.” Rosalie replied. They walked into different sections of the high school. Rosalie came into the main office not knowing what to do. “Hi, can I help you?” A perky looking, about 40 year old, red head smiled at Rosalie. “Rosalie Stephens, junior. Just moved in and I transferred here.” She tried to sound nice, but was really nervous. Perky kept on typing and grinned. “Ah, yes. Rosalie Stephens,” she paused. “Yeah, I just said that..” Rosalie murmured. “Sorry what?” Perky leaned in. “Nothing.” “Okay, well I’m calling someone in to direct you to the class.” Perky picked up the phone and spoke, “Yes, can you send a student to direct Ms. Stephens to the class? Yes, she’s the new one. Yes, thank you.” Perky looked up and paused. “He’ll be here in a minute. By the way I’m Mrs. Johnson.” She smiled. “Ok,”
Rosalie sat in the waiting chair, “Hi, umm, here for the new girl.” A 5;10, chestnut hair, blue eyed boy stood there. He was wearing a guitar shirt and ripped jeans with converse shoes. “Yes, Eric. Over there.” She pointed to Rosalie. Rosalie stood up. “Hi, I’m Eric. Eric Morris. I’m your tour guide for today, and you are?” He laughed. Rosalie caught herself giggling “Rosalie Stephens, why thank you for introducing me to this fine area.” “My pleasure, ma’am.” He smiled. I think Rosalie found her new best friend! He told her about the rooms and looked at her schedule. They had the same classes. “So you’ll come with me all day, alright?” He was so nice. “Okay.” They made a stop and walked into the room. She sat into an empty seat by the window, everyone was looking at her. Talk about uncomfortable.

“I got dinner,” her father announced walking into the foyer. “Oh, what?” Riley asked, she was always picky with food. “Pasta, we’ll eat dinner, explore, sign you guys up for a few things, and get started.” “Dad? What if there are no dance lessons here?” Rosalie would be devastated and make them move back if there weren’t. “Well, we’ll find.” They all finished their pasta and rushed to the car.
After driving around they reached a guitar lesson for Shia, singing lessons for Riley, but still no dance lessons. “Let’s head home.” Their father was happy for the two that found lessons, but upset for Rosalie. “But we didn’t find!” Rosalie screamed. “Honey, we’ll look more tomorrow, we’re tired, we had a busy day. After school you and I will drive around, okay?” Her mother tried cheering her up but that didn’t help the frown on her face. Rosalie wanted to take the car alone and drive, but her parents wouldn’t let her.
Rosalie opened up her laptop and went onto Google. She searched some places to go to for fun in Overbrook, then Overbrook High, they were both nice. She can’t complain. Can she? “You’ll find a dance studio, trust me.” Shia came in the room and sat down on the bed next to her. “If you don’t, I’m sure you can drive to Jersey everyday for it,” they both let out a laugh. “It’s always tough moving,” Riley came in. Rosalie always knew Riley was jealous of how her and Shia were always close. She felt kind of bad. “Yeah, I guess.” Rosalie finally admitted.
“Ugh, we’re going to be the new kids in high school, that’ll be fun..” Rosalie said to Shia leaving Riley out. “Yeah, ew in Jersey the new kids were freaks.” Shia laughed. “Ha! Yeah, remember Alex? Wow, he didn’t know anything that was going on!” Rosalie said. Riley frowned “Yeah, middle school’s tough too. But I bet high school’s much harder, yeah, who’s Alex?” She wanted to make topic too. “Just a kid,” they both said. Riley grinned and left. Shia and Rosalie looked at each other with a what’s-going-on expression. “Anyways,” Shia continued, “goodnight,” “You too,” Rosalie fell asleep.

They stepped into a steel blue room, with all dark colored furniture, a queen sized bed, and an amazing view. “Sick, let’s go tour the home.” Rosalie said. They went downstairs and saw a huge foyer with a chandelier, they stepped into a living room with a grandfather clock and piano. Then they went towards a library room, very small though. “Check it out,” Shia said pointing to the TV room, leather couches and a plasma screen TV, with tables and a bar in it. “How’s everyone liking it?” Tyler smiled. “Awesome, did you furnish this thing?” They asked. “No, the last owners left some furniture. It’s a very opened house, right? Too many windows! I can basically see you guys from outside.” Tyler said thinking they should be careful.
Rosalie and Shia stepped out of the house and saw a sweet looking girl about 15. “Dibs,” Shia called and ran toward her and greeted himself. He was always a ladies man. “Hey, I’m Shia Stephens, just moved here.” “Alice Finn, lived here a while, you’ll love it here. Seriously, I know I do. We should hang out sometime, I’ll give you some nice tips and good places to go.” Alice was smiling, Shia smiled back. They spoke some more. Rosalie went to the backyard and saw a swing set.
She ran to the front yard and saw a girl sitting on the pavement with her head down. She was black haired, green eyes, kind of on the pale side, but had a suitable tan. She was kind of pretty in a way. “Hey.” Rosalie shouted. “Hi,” she immediately stood up “Rosalie Stephens, just moved in,” she took out her hand and they shook hands. “Elisa Collins,” “Are you alright? You seem a bit upset,” Rosalie didn’t want to get to personal or whatever, she just met the girl. She could be a psycho for all she knows. “Not really, this clique is bothering me, because I’m not Overbrook type pretty.” She seemed really upset, like she was going to cry. “Look, I don’t know you too well, but, maybe we could hang out sometimes, I can make you fit in with your looks? I live in that house over there.” Rosalie got out paper and wrote down her number and gave it to her. Then pointed the huge stucco house she called home. “I live in the house next to it, that’s so cool.” Is she cheered up now?
Rosalie stepped into the house and collapsed on the couch in the living room, her mother sat next to her and smiled. “You’ll be going to Overbrook High, you’ll meet a lot of kids. You’ll love it. It’s a great school.” “Okay, but where’s the mall? If I’m transferring, I’ll need clothes.” Rosalie loved buying clothes, especially T-shirts because she took dance, dancing is her life and that’s one thing she didn’t and would never leave behind in Jersey. Rosalie won 4 dance awards, 3 first place, 1 second. “We’ll go this weekend.”

    OVERBROOK
“Come on,” Riley looked sad, but moving forward always comes with a price. “Tell mom I’ll be down in a minute.” I know that that I should ease up on Riley, but it’s too hard. She took the moving pretty bad. Shia came in the room and said bye to it, Riley looked intensely at him. “Say bye to the home and let’s go!” Tyler Stephens has been trying to be optimistic about the moving, he wanted the family to start fresh and be as close as ever. It wasn’t exactly what they all wanted to hear, but it was a start.
“Bye! I’ll miss you more than ever. Gosh I can’t believe it, you’re moving away from me!” Rosalie’s best friend Maya Piggins said. Rosalie hugged her and they said their goodbyes. She took one last glance at the home and they walked away. Everyone seemed glum, Riley especially. It took 4 hours to get to Overbrook. Longest 4 hours ever. “Look at our new house!” Emily screamed. Everyone gasped, it was certainly bigger and nicer than the old one. 4 stories, basement and attic included, 6 bedrooms, 8 bathrooms. It was stucco with a balcony over looking their pool. “Go choose your rooms,” Tyler was so thrilled.
Rosalie stepped into a huge bedroom, queen sized bed, nice furnishing, big closet, “Wow,” She gasped. Rosalie got comfortable and set everything up, starting with pictures of hometown best friends to her family vacations. She set her laptop down, and hung up or folded everything in her suitcase. “Nice place!” Shia came in collapsing on the couch. “Yeah, how about yours?” The idea of moving here to some crappy home and place was horrible. But now that we’re here, it’s amazing, Rosalie thought. “It’s awesome, come check it out.”

    How To Start In Overbrook
    1
The human race is a very complex race. The bad, the evil, the killers, the good, the helpers, the surprising. I’m not so much of a people person. They say aliens are evil, but who knows? They might look at us like rotten milk. There’s many ways to go with this, we kill.
Rosalie Stephens, 17 years old. Strawberry blonde hair, electric blue eyes, thin. Living proudly in Jersey with my two younger siblings, Shia, 15 years old and Riley, 12 years old. Shia has always been my closest sibling, he’s funny and we always have each others backs. Riley on the other hand, well, she’s been annoying lately. Her phase. My mothers name is Emily and my fathers name is Tyler. They’re those couples you see on TV who fight over stupid things like being messy, or forgetting presents, but deep down they’d take a bullet for each other.
Everything in Jersey was fine, I have friends, a nice suitable home, warm family, but my dad got a job offer he just can’t turn down. In Overbrook, Pennsylvania. I’ve heard crazy things about the place from friends, but maybe they were just upset. I’m fine with moving forward, it’s what I’m leaving behind that matters. I suppose I’ll make friends in Overbrook, gosh just the name makes me want to throw up.
    (what do you think?)
