Replaying the Past
Chapter 3
I held onto Cassie's hand as we jumped into the pool together. Our heads bobed up and we floated around, laughing. I talked to a few other girls and got along well. It was a great time.
"Gemma! Is that you?"
I looked up and saw Ellie there, "Hey Eli!" I jumped onto the ledge and stood next to her.
"I haven't seen you all summer!"
I smiled, pretending that I actually missed her. Trush is, I really didn't like her. She was always bossy and annoying. But I still tried to be nice.
She gave me a quick hug, "I gotta go! Nice talking with you!"
I waved slightly, and shook my head, we barely even talked. I sat on a lounge chair, looking at the setting sun. It was a beautiful night. I glanced at the chair next to me. No way. Lucy was here. Lucy was the worst! We always hated each other and I had no clue why. My mother always told me she was jealous, but I doubted it.
She looked over at me, "If it isn't Gemma Lakewood. What a suprise. What are you doing here? Cassie bring you?"
I looked down, blushing with embaresment. Not that Cassie was embarrasing, it was just the fact I didn't get personally invited, "Yeah, she did. Show what?" I spat back.
She giggled and looked over at her friends, continuing a conversation in their whispers. Agrivated, I got up and walked inside the house, sitting on a nice little couch. I leaned back and took in my surrondings. I really just wanted to go home. I took a deep breath and looked around, trying to find something interesting. My eyes fell to a staircase. I decided to go up them and take a look around. I mean it couldn't hurt...right?
I slowly walked up and peered into a room. I pulled my head out and almost jumped when I saw Madge.
"Hey! Gemma, right?" She asked, her smile flashing brightly.
I nodded, "Yeah."
"Cool. We should talk more girl!"
"Oh, sure!" I smiled, looking past her shoulder, wondering if Conner was down that way.
"Well, I better get going. Don't want to have my mom wait! Talk to you later?"
"Yeah. Of course! Bye." I waved and waited until she disappeared down the hall and slipped into the only other room that was in the hallway.
"Hello?" I called softly.
"Huh?" Conner answered, walking to the door of the room, "Oh Gemma. Hey!" He smiled.
"I just saw Madge. And I thought you were in here. so I decided to say Hi." I smiled.
"Oh, cool." He gave me a goofy grin. Did Conner really like me? I tossed the thought aside as we started to talk. I was really getting to know him. I think he liked me. and I might just like him. I shook the thought away. No. No boy will ever like me. I can't kid with myself. I sighed. I was so confused.
"Is everything okay?" Conner asked when I sighed.
"Yeah, I'm fine."
Suddenly the door opened, "Hey Gemma." It was Cassie.
"Hey Cas! Sorry I left."
"Noproblem." Her words slurred.
"Oh no Cas."
"What? C'mon we are going home."
"I'm not letting you drive."
She waved a hand at me, "I'm fine." But I could clearly tell she was drunk.
"No. Your not fine."
"I could give you a ride. She can pick her car up tomorrow." Conner lended a hand.
"Really Conner? Thanks!" I smiled.
"Don't mention it." He gave a cute smile that made my stomache fly ten feet in the air. And soon as we left, I wished I hadn't gone at all.
