Chapter One
I spun the combination and yanked open my locker. Shoving my textbooks inside with a clang, I leaned my head against the metal and heaved a sigh.
Finally, I thought to myself. The day’s over.
Something buzzed against my butt, and I slipped my hand into my back pocket, retrieving the phone. Glancing at it briefly, I groaned.
"What?" I snapped. I reached into my locker and grabbed my pale green hoodie, slipping it on awkwardly.
"Mom wants you home," my older brother, Tucker, said.
I rolled my eyes. "Tell her I'll get there when I get there. School just ended."
"You tell her. I'm going to go take a nap. See ya'."
"Tucker-," I started, but he hung up before I could say anything.
I groaned and shoved the phone back into my pocket. I placed the books I needed for homework into my messenger bag and slipped it onto my shoulder, slamming the locker door shut.
"Are you okay?" someone chuckled in an amused tone.
I glanced up to the voice, ready to tell whoever was trying to mess with me off, but I gasped at the handsome face. He must be the new kid everyone was talking about.
He was still waiting for my response, so I swallowed the growing lump in my throat that threatened to silence me and shook my head.
"Um....yeah."
