Chapter 4
At first, all I could do was look down at his limp body laying on the concrete. "Bryce..." I whispered quietly. I waited for a reaction, a movement, a sign of life, or hope. But nothing happened. He didn't move, he's not breathing, he didn't get up laughing, telling me it was a joke. "Bryce?!" I said again, a little louder. No one was around, no cars were passing. It was like the only people in the world are me and Bryce's body. I couldn't do it anymore. "BRYCE!" I screamed at the top of my lungs. "BRYCE GET UP! STOP IT!" I broke into tears as I fell to the ground beside him. Nothing happened. I sat there, in tears, not knowing what to do next. "Bryce, Please get up." I said softly. No responce. I pulled out my cell phone and opened it to see a picture of Bryce and I as kids. I typed in the 3 numbers everyone knows. "Hello, 911, What is your emergency?" A happy girl on the other end said. "My friend...He colasped...No sign of life...Please hurry." I said. I put the phone next to me and rolled Bryce over so I could see his face. It was so perfect, even with the fresh cuts and bruices.
"Bryce..." I said. "I'm here." I felt him take my hand and squeeze it, and a smile crossed his face.

Chapter 3
Sometimes, You have to take what life deals at you. Sometimes it's good, and sometimes, its bad. Today seemed like it was going to turn out good, but it didn't.
I was walking out of the school with Bryce, who was breathing in the warm summer air. It seems like yesterday school started and I was that scared little Junior but now, it's the last day of school and next year, I'll be a Senior.
"Where to?" Bryce asked. Bryce and I always hung out after school. Sometimes we went to Starbucks to get coffee and study, and other times, we went to the arcade.
"It's really warm out," I said. I didn't feel like drinking hot coffee or being stuck in a small room with a million little kids high on sugar.
"Do you want to just hang out at my house?" He asked. "We can go on the trampoline or something." We always tried to impress eachother on the trampoline, which caused me to get a broken nose in 6th grade.
"Sure, Why not?" I said, and we headed back to his house. Everything was fine until we were a couple blocks from his house,
and Bryce collapsed.

Chapter 2
I was sitting in homeroom organizing my pencil bag and talking to my friends Anabelle and Molly. Molly was braiding Anabelles hair when I heard a voice behind me. "Can I borrow a pencil?" I turned around to see Bryce smiling at me and one of my pencils in his hand. "Give that back!" I mummbled as I grabed the pencil out of his hand. "Hey! Watch it!" He laughed as I lunged forward to get the pencil. "Bryce, you always borrow my pencils and don't give them back." I said, trying to be stern. He chuckled and handed me back my pencil. "It was a joke, loosen up a bit, would ya?" I shoved the pencil back into my bag and turned around again. "Sorry, I'm just so scared for the math test..." He had that smile he always wore when he was giving advice. "We studied for like 3 hours last night! You'll do fine once you see the questions." He was right. I always get worked up about a test and then do good once I see the questions. "OK, thanks Bryce!" I said as I sat back down. "All done!" Molly said, showing everyone the braid she did. "Molly, That looks amazing!" I said. "Aw, well thank you!" Our perfect morning was interupted by the bell. I picked up my books and Bryce grabed my arm. "Time for class, slowpoke!" He pulled me out of the classroom and down the hall. What a perfect day...

Chapter 1
I shoved my earphones into my ears, pressed play, and started walking up the street. It was so hot outside, 80 degrees, and I was already sweating. "Hey!" My friend Emily said. I smiled, nodded, and changed the song. Everything was fine until I saw him walk out of his house. 'God, Why does he have to be so perfect?' I thought. He walked aross his lawn, lacrosse stick in one hand, and the other clutching his lacrosse bag. Our eyes met, and he smiled at me for the first time today. Last night he came over to my house with his older sister to watch TV while our parents caught up. We talked about all the drama in our grade and studied for the math test. I looked back down at my IPod as he approched me. He took one of my earphones out, and put it in his own ear. "Turn it up, I love this song." He said in the voice I loved hearing. I did as he told me to as he started humming along. I looked up at him and smiled. "What?" He laughed. My heart was just melting. I've liked him since we were 7, but we're just friends. "I don't know..." I laughed back. The bus pulled up to the stop sign and we all got on. He walked to the back of the bus without saying anything, leaving me alone in the front, like nothing happened.
