Part 2.
I finally had a friend. I liked the feeling of being noticed, especially by Josh Holmes. Sure, I would of picked someone a little more sensitive and less popular, but at least someone noticed me. Me and Josh walked to his house after we got out of the school parking lot. He said we could study together. I was pretty distracted by the fact that I was in Josh Homles house, to remember my parents would litterly kill my if I wasn't home by the ned of the school day.
"So, Jess. Thanks for being there for me. I know I was pretty gay back there-" I cut him off.
"Josh, just because a guy has feelings and can't hold them in doesn't make him gay. You don't need to be like that around me. You know, a jock." I said taking out my english books.
"Yeah. I guess the whole 'tough guy' act is getting annoying. Thanks Jess." He sat next to me and then a girl that looked to be in her twenties came out with a short dress on and smiled.
"Hi! I'm Joshe's mother, Meg. Do you kids want something to eat?" She said hugging me.
"Yes, mom. This is Jess." Josh said pulling away from her.
"Well, i'll be right back! Make yourself at home Jess!" She woddled into the kitchen with her big heels on and made us a snack.
"You have a really big house," I said looking up. We were standing outside by the pool at the table.
"My dad's a football player. And of course we need a big house for the prest." He said sitting down.
"Oh. Must be nice to have a big house and great parents." I pulled down my sleave a bit remembering my life style, and how he'd porbably kick me out if he knew.
"Yeah. Sure. It's great having a wh*re mother, and a dad who's never around. The only person who's given me attention in the past year is our house maid, lily." He looked at his english book trying not to make eye contact with me.
"What about you, kid?" He said fianlly looking at me.
"Huh?" I said snapping back into reality.
"Your parents. Hows your life?" He smirked at me.
"Uhm, well. My mom doesn't have a job and my dad got fired yesterday," I tried to cover up my story the best I can without lying.
"Huh." Was all he said.
"You should be thankful though. You could have it worse. Look on the bright side, everyone thinks your rich, you have all the food you could ask for, and you get everything you want. Even if your parents aren't around." I said scribbling in my book.
"Yeah. I guess so. I'm just sick of my parents not caring. So whats your story? Why are you so quiet and calm?" He asked sitting closer.
"I don't have much to say. And even if I did, who would listen?" I said looking in his eyes. It got really intense between us.
"You're right. I'd still kill to be you." I sat there in shock. Josh homles wanted to be me. I couldn't believe it.
"You didn't even know me before today. And trust me, you don't want to be me."
"Jess, it may seem like people like me don't notice, but we do. I've seen you around. And I'd kill to be you. You're so calm, and wise. You don't have to deal with all the hoes at school. You're always smiling and your parents care." I was surpirsed at what he said. He actully did notice me. But I still didn't want to say anything about my parents. Suddenly the words just started coming out.
"I'd kill to be you. You live in a huge house, you're football captin, you get all the girls, you're way more attractive then i'll ever be, you have everything you want and you have friends. And you're not getting abused or cutting yourself."
I fianlly sat back realizing what I just said. I had fianlly told someone.
"Wait, go back. You're getting abused? And you cut yourself? and don't worry about that other stuff, none of it's fun or real."
"Yeah. I've never told anyone before. I've never had anyone to tell before."
"Jess, tell me whats going on. I can help. You need to tell someone." Josh said sounding more gental and sincere.
Suddenly, his mom came back out. We then ate and did our english in silience.
"Josh, I have to be home before the school day ends. Or my parents might get mad." I said grabbing my stuff.
"I don't want you to go home if they're going to hurt you." He said grabbing my wrist gently.
"I'll be fine. I promise. You can text me iPod if you'd like. I'll see you tomorrow."
I gave him my number and walked home.
~
"Oh great. You're home, you little f/cker. How come you're late?" My dad asked drunk on the couch.
"I went to a friends to study. I'm sorry dad. I won't do it again." I said trying to get to the stairs.
He got up an grabbed me by the neck.
He kicked me in the back and threw me on the ground.
"DAMN RIGHT YOU WONT, YOU LITTLE C*CK S*CKER!" He yelled kicking me some more. Then, everything slowly blacked out.
