I feel the need to explain to people.
On the 14th of Dec. many lives were lost, but to those of you who have been hearing the murderer was a goth, the media is completely wrong.
Everytime there is something that goes wrong in the daily lives of us humans, goths are the ones to be blamed. Remember Columbine? Where two students went on a killing spree, before killing themselves? They were said to be goth. Why? Just because someone wears a black coat, or if they wear black clothing does not mean they are goth. In this case a student, (remind you a child of merely 6 or 7) said that they had seen a man "wearing all black and with a pale face." Description of a goth? Not at all, sure some of us are pale, because we prefer to be pale or it was just our natural skin tone at birth! As to wearing black, not all of us wear black, such as Cyber Goth or White Goth or even Pastel Goth. There many of us who do not like the color black and prefer to wear other colors.
The gothic culture is something that detests violence and wants to spread love but no one lets us. Because we dress different, have different views on life (which are not ALL mopey or morbid), or perhaps it is because we listen to different music? Everyone is scared of things that do not follow the norm. The gothic culture does not promote violence, so to the man who killed all those innocent children and adults, he was not goth. But someone who had mental problems, someone who just wasn't right in the head. There could have been many things that could have set him off. Those reasons? I do not know.
The gothic community suffers as well. There have been deaths among us just because people do not like the way some of us look. Sure we may look different on the outside but on the inside we are the same. The media always looks for someone to blame, and it some how ends up being the gothic community. I just hope none of you think that goths are to blame for this, when truly we are victims as well.
