my hands shake & i dread the thought.
because it doesnt even matter how hard i fought.
it always comes back to the same exact place.
the laughs, the kisses, the smile on your face.
you held me in your arms all night long
& i crumbled right next to you because im not that strong.
& i even predicted what was to come.
but you tried your hardest to convince me i was wrong.
youre my biggest weakness & im struggling to hold on
im gasping for air & youve been pulling me down for too long.
but i cant help wondering what could have been
& when i began this downward spin.

the secrets behind her smile are not easily seen.
things that she says are different than what she means.
because no one understands the things shes been through.
no matter how often she hears that they do.
time couldnt pass slower and it gets harder every day.
no one will ever hear what shes dying to say.
she hurts too much and shes sure it will make her stronger.
but shes just not sure she can take it any longer.

they see pen marks on her hands and theyve noticed them for years.
and its only bc no ones bothered to lend her their ears.
the worst part is the scars that they pretend they dont see.
they cant begin to imagine what the cause of those could be.
they all may think they know, but they really have no clue.
shes the only one who knows what that boy can really do.

ive got a one track mind and youre at the end of the road.
and my biggest mistake was watching you go.
but i realize now that i cant turn around.
so im dusting myself off and getting up off the ground.
because youre really not worth it and youre gonna end up alone.

it's like no matter ow hard you try, your feet wont leave the ground.
but as soon as you learn to fly, you dont wanna stick around
because if you never come back down then your heart cant break the fall
and if you never go too deep theres no way to lose it all.

i ran the tank to E.
i ripped off the mirrors bc i cant look at me.
scars on my wrist tell stories each day.
repetitive strokes mean the things im scared to say.
im tired of running to any possible escape.
bc where you once stood is the place no one can take.
i learned the hard way, just believe me that i tried.
i learned a new lesson with every tear i dried.

&its happened once before so im terrified to lose you.

i stop to catch my breath

she walked to the bathroom like so many times before
grabbed her toothbrush and collapsed on the floor
she stared at her reflection as a tear hit the water
she too reflected on her mistakes as a sister, a friend, a daughter
what would happen if she were to simply give in ?
she couldnt let that boy know he could win
she was the only one with the gumption to try
and where had it gotten her ? on the floor to cry.
all of her energy had soon been drained.
all of his happiness had caused her this pain
it took all her strength to rise from her knees
she had pushed her limits, crossed her boundaries
