Hey guys, thanks for reading my story, Everyone Lies.
I really love it when you tell me what you think!
It's kind of based off my highschool experience.

Okay, so clearly no one likes my new story either.
I'll continue writing both, I guess.
So just tell me what you think!

My formspring. I just set up a new one because I forgot my password... Heh.

    Everyone Lies
    Chapter Twenty-One
Oh, no. Oh oh oh. My heart started beating like crazy. What do I say? I thought. My mind started racing as I thought of things to say. Should I tell him? No, what good would that do... But if I tell him I think I love him too, then I'm basically forgetting about Joey...
"I..." My mind went totally blank. My jaw hung there like an idiot as I waited for words to come to me.
"You don't have to say anything," Paul said. "I just thought I'd let you know."
I still didn't say anything for a few moments. For a second there, I thought I was dreaming, but Paul's touch was all too real. He brushed his hand over my cheek, sending shivers down my back.
"Ritchie, when I said you didn't have to say anything, I have to say I was expecting you to at least say something," Paul said, his eyebrows lowering slightly.
"I'm sorry, I'm just.... Processing it." I pressed my lips to his, and he didn't resist. He kissed me back passionately, moving his body with mine. He took his shirt off, and I moved so I was on top of him, kissing him along his jaw. He ran his hands down my back and I brushed my hands through his hair. He put his hands up my shirt, then lifted it off. As he was reaching to unclip my bra, the door opened and the lights turned on. Paul's head shot up, bumping against mine really hard. I grunted and rolled off of Paul with my eyes tightly closed because of the sudden bright light.
"Whoa. Is it hot in here or is it just you two?" Randy said, leaning against the door frame with an amused look on his face.
"Hah, funny Randy," Paul said, his face completely red. I'm sure I looked just like he did. We stood up from the floor, and I grabbed my shirt. I stood behind Paul, holding my shirt against me.
"It's almost eleven, I have to take Ritchie home," Randy said, tossing his keys in the air and catching them.
"Gives us ten minutes," Paul said, and when Randy didn't move, he added, "Alone."
"Crazy kids," Randy mumbled as he closed the door.
Within seconds, Paul and I were lying on the bed with the lights off again, me with my shirt back on. We were kind of flustered from being caught, so we laughed for a second, but then Paul's face became serious.
"I really like you, Ritchie," he said, wrapping his arms around me and kissing me on the top of my head.
"I feel the same way about you," I said, and looked up into his eyes. I reached my arm over him and put my head on his bare chest. I inhaled deeply, and his delicious scent filled my nose. We stayed like that for a few minutes, until Randy shouted up the stairs saying I had to go. We sat up, and had one last long kiss. Then Paul picked me up and carried me down the stairs. He came with Randy and me on the way home, and we cuddled in the back seat.
When we finally got to my house, Paul walked me to the front door, and put his hands on my face. He opened his mouth like he was going to say something, but he just kissed me instead.
    "Bye, Paul."
    "Bye, Ritchie."
I went inside and up the stairs with my crutches as quietly as I could because my parents were already asleep. I shut the door and flopped down on my bed, and for reasons completely unknown to me, I started to cry. I buried myself under my blankets and started to sob and sob and sob. I guess it was the guilt and the total confusion finally catching up. But I was crying so hard, I couldn't even think about it.
I woke up confused as to why my pillow was soaking wet...
Sorry this chapter is kind of sucky. I have a wicked busy week coming up, so I don't know when I'll write.

    Chapter Twenty
"Where you kids going?" Randy asked.
    "Upstairs," Paul said.
Randy raised his eyebrows. "Make sure you use protection."
"Okay, first of all, we're not going to do it. Second of all, mom and dad are upstairs and I'm not stupid. Here, want me to carry you up, Ritchie?" Paul turned around, and I hopped on his back. "Ah, be careful with the shoulder."
    "Sorry," I said.
He carried me up the stairs, then opened the door to his bed room. It wasn't as big as my room, but there was less stuff in it. There was only a bed with a faded blue quilt, a dresser, a desk with a computer on it, and a huge book case. He put me down on the bed, and sat next to me. I picked up a picture frame from his bedside table. Framed in popsicle sticks was a picture of Paul and a little girl with short hair.
    "Who's this?" I asked.
"My little cousin. She has leukemia," he said, looking at the picture with sad eyes.
"I'm sorry, Paul," I said, putting my arm around his waist. "That must suck."
"Yeah, it's pretty tough on the family. She's a good kid."
I put the picture back down and picked up an empty frame. It was pretty, silver, with intricate designs. "What's this one for?"
"I haven't decided. I just liked the frame, thought it was pretty."
I didn't really know what else to say, so I put the frame down. When I looked back at Paul, he was looking down at his hands.
    "You okay?" I asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine." He looked back up at me. "Great, actually."
    "well, that's good." I smiled.
We didn't say anything for a few minutes, so to fill the silence I slid off the bed and layed down on the floor. Paul stood up and turned the lights off, then joined me on the floor. We looked up at the glow in the dark stars for a few minutes, not saying anything. Paul reached over and grabbed my hand. He turned his face towards mine. "Tell me a secret."
I looked him in the eye and thought for a moment. I thought about my big secret. I thought about how much I liked Paul. I thought about how much I liked Joey. I thought about my guilt.
I turned my face back towards the stars. "I don't have any."
"Of course you do," he said without hesitation. My heart fluttered.
    "What do you mean?"
    "Everyone does."
"Well, I... I still watch Scooby-Doo movies if they're on TV. In fact, I love Scooby-Doo." I'm proud to say that's not a lie, but he laughed anyway. "I'm serious."
"That's not a very big secret. That could be true about anyone. Tell me a secret that's unique, that doesn't apply to anyone else."
"My secret is.... I... I don't open up to people. I'm still looking for that one person who I can tell anything to, and if I don't find that person pretty soon, I'm going to explode. I just bottle everything up. Mostly it's because I think people don't care, like I don't matter. Other times I don't want to hurt anyone. And I'm really bad about thinking before speaking, so I babble and babble and realize I never fully come to my point. I'm just not a people-person, I don't interact well with people. Sometimes I feel like I'm stuck like this, like I'm just never going to trust people..." I faded off, realizing if I said any more, I might say something I'd regret.
"You know you can always trust me, right?" Paul ask. I turned over on my side and looked Paul right in the eyes. I like to believe I would have confessed right there, if he hadn't moved in close and kissed me. His lips were warm and smooth. I closed my eyes and pressed my body against his. I wrapped my arms around his neck and he pulled me close.
"Tell me your secret," I said in between kisses.
His lips brushed against my collarbone and up my neck.
"I think I'm falling in love with you."
    Tell me what you think!

    Everyone Lies
    Chapter Nineteen
I stood in front of my closet with support from my crutches. What to wear to watch movies and snuggle... I decided on sweatpants from Victoria's Secret. I put on my prettiest bra, not like I was expecting to get too far, but still. You can never go wrong with a black, lacy pushup bra. I put my hair in a ponytail after taking a shower, then put on a cozy sweater. I didn't put too much makeup on, just eyeliner and mascara.
"Ritchie, are you ready to go?" My mom called up the stairs.
"Yeah!" I said with the last stroke of mascara. I walked down the stairs as fast as I could.
On the way to Paul's, my mom gave me a short version of "the talk," obviously not for the first time. I gotta say, it was a little awkward. When we got there, I texted Paul, and he came out and greeted me, then helped me up the steps into the house. I waved to my mom from the door, then as soon as the door was shut, Paul's lips were on mine. It wasn't a long kiss, but it gave me butterflies.
He backed away, and put his hands on my waist. "You get to meet my parents," he said, putting his arm around me. "Formally, anyways. I don't think briefly seeing them at the hospital counts. Mom, dad! Say hi to Ritchie!"
I looked around as he walked me to the kitchen. The house wasn't very big, and there were family pictures everywhere of Paul and Randy. I smiled at one of Paul when he was a toddler dressed as a puppy for halloween. There were also some with Kristen. Up until that point, I had totally forgotten they were cousins. As we got close to the kitchen, I heard people talking. When we walked in, I saw Paul's parents, Randy, and Andy standing around, eating pizza.
"Hey Ritchie!" Paul's mom, Nancy, said. His dad, Emilio, waved at me and smiled. I could totally tell that Paul got his smile from his dad. Andy was sitting in a wheelchair with her legs up, and her arm in a sling. I was curious as to how she still looked gorgeous. Randy stood close to her, in an almost protective way, with his arm in a sling, too.
    "Hi everyone," I said, smiling.
"Hey, Ritchie, looking good," Randy said, giving me a wink.
"Want some pizza?" Paul asked, grabbing my hand.
I nodded, and hobbled over to get a piece of cheese pizza, then sat on the couch with Paul. We watched the newest episode of The Office with everyone while we ate. As soon as it was over and we were done eating, Paul's parents left and we were alone with Randy and Andy. We turned the TV to Criminal Minds, and I snuggled up against Paul on the love seat. Randy and Andy sat on the other couch, Andy with her legs up. They were absolutely the cutest couple I'd ever seen, and I wondered how long they'd been together.
Paul brought me out of my trance by putting his arm around my shoulders. I looked up into his hazel eyes, and took his hand with the cast on it. I looked down at my signature on the hard cast, with a little heart next to my name.
Paul put his hand under my chin, and lifted my face up to his for a kiss. Randy whistled, and Andy giggled. Paul gave them death glares, but I smiled and gave him another kiss. Just as we were getting into it, someone on the TV was getting murdered, and screaming her head off. I couldn't help but think it wasn't very romantic.
"Want to go upstairs?" Paul whispered in my ear.
I nodded, and he helped me up.
Sorry I haven't written in FOREVER. School has been crazy.
So tell me what you think, PLEASE.

    Chapter Eighteen
I woke up early saturday morning. Paul had left at 10:30, and I had gone straight to bed, even though I didn't fall asleep for a long time. I slowly sat up in bed, and looked at my cast. I'd only had it on for a week, and I wanted it off. The good thing was that the doctor had said I could try crutches after a week. There they were, leaning against the foot of my bed. I grabbed them and tried to walk with them. It was difficult, but I managed.
I checked my phone. One new voicemail and four new texts from Joey. I gave him a quick call, and we made plans to meet out for lunch. I convinced my mom to drive me after some serious pleading and lying on my part. Then I did my make up, and decided to straighten my hair. I hardly ever straighten it because it just curls back up if there's any moisture in the air, but it was a wicked dry day so I gave it a shot. Straightened, my hair was right in between my shoulder blades. I did my make-up, nothing too flashy. Then I grabbed these special black wool stockings that the hospital had given me to wear over my cast, and put on a jean skirt and an oversized sweatshirt. I put one of my Converse on my right foot. I didn't necessarily look my cutest, but it was gonna have to do. I hobbled down the stairs with my crutches, slipped into my warm winter jacket, and went out to the car with my mom. I had told her I was meeting a couple of friends for lunch.
When we got to the restaurant, which is really just a bakery that sells sandwiches and pizza during lunch, I struggled out of the car and went inside. Joey was sitting in a far corner. When he saw me, he got up and rushed over and put his arm around my waste to help me to my seat.
"So," he said when we were finally sitting. "I see you're out of that wheelchair."
    "For now," I said.
We sat there for a few moments in silence.
"Can I kiss you?" Joey ask with a half smile.
"Don't you know the rule, Joey?"
    "No? What rule?"
"Never ask for a kiss. Just take one," I said teasingly and leaned over the table to kiss him on the lips. I heard a couple people sitting nearby whisper "awww" and I couldn't help but smile.
"I like that rule," Joey said, grabbing my hand on the table. "What kind of sandwich do you want? I'll go order."
I gave him my order, and while he was up, I got a text from Paul.
    Paul:
Hey, want to come over and watch movies tonight?
    Ritchie:
Yeah, sounds good. I'm finally out of that damn wheel chair and giving these crutches a shot!
    Paul:
    Awesome! So it's a date?
    Ritchie:
    Of course :)
"One roast beef sandwich for you!" Joey said as he placed the sandwich in front of me and gave me a kiss on the head.
We ate in silence, except when we briefly talked about our english teacher, who is thinks we're in love. She made us stand up and hold hands, and read the scene where Romeo and Juliet meet for the first time in front of the class. It was mortifying.
"I like your hair naturally curly better," Joey said, out of the blue, and brushed a lock of my hair behind my ear.
"Really? Thanks. I don't have the patience to straighten it often, so I'm glad you like it," I said, and laughed slightly.
"Do you want some dessert? We could share a piece of cake," he said, looking hopeful.
"Sounds good," I said, and he got up to get it. When he came back a few moments later, he was carrying a piece of delicious looking lemon cake. We ate it together, and to be honest, I think I ate more than he did. When we were done, he helped me out of my seat and walked me out the door. I got a text from my mom saying she'd be there in ten minutes, and Joey's ride was nowhere in sight, so I reached one hand around his neck and pulled him into a kiss.
"Want to sit on the bench?" Joey asked, so we sat down. We sat really close for a few moments, and kissed, but I got worried that my mom would drive up and see us so I moved to one end of the bench.
"If my mom asks, say we were with a group of friends and they all already left," I said, putting my hand on his knee.
"Alright," he said, and covered my hand with his. We sat there for a few moments until I saw my mom's car coming. He gave me a quick peck on the cheek, then helped me to my feet. He waved at my mom as she pulled up. I said bye to Joey, then got in the car.
"Where's everyone else?" my mom asked, waving to Joey. "Does he need a ride?"
"Oh, they already left. And no, he's fine." I buckled my seat belt, and watched Joey standing there as we pulled away from the curb. "Can I go to Paul's tonight? We're gonna watch movies... His parents will be there."
I didn't know if that last part was true, but I threw it in there just in case. One little white lie can't hurt.
    "Sure, why not," she said.
Two boys in one day. I felt slightly slutty.

P.S. Sorry, I think I called the last two chapters EveryBODY Lies. I changed it back to Everyone, Hahaha sorry!

    Chapter 4
The girls are just looking at me, trying not to laugh.
    "What?" I ask.
"You're so stupid, Cat," Ringo says, and we all laugh, except Arabella, who has already lost interest.
"What's that building down there?" she asks, pointing to the big building close to the mess hall.
"Arts and crafts," Jen says. She's is one of the few that's been coming to camp since the very beginning with me.
We take turns pushing each other on the tire swings, even Arabella, but she stops after a couple swings because she broke her nail. Then she sits alone on the merry-go-round, until Ringo decides to spin her wicked fast without letting her know. She starts to freak out, and yells at Ringo as soon as she stops spinning.
"What is your problem?" she says, putting her sunglasses on her head. "You should have asked."
"Chill, man. I didn't think it would be a big deal," Ringo says, putting her hands up defensively.
"Whatever. I'm leaving," Arabella says, then stomps down the hill.
    "That was weird," Jen says.
    "She's certifiably insane," Leena says.
The four of us hang on the play ground, talking about Arabella. When the bell sounds for dinner, we all walk down the hill to the mess hall. We find our table with the red 7 on it and five girls are already taking down the benches. No Arabella yet, though. We help get the benches down, then assign two girls to get the food. Dinner and breakfast are family style, and lunch is "come and get it yourself then sit down wherever." Seriously, that's what it says on a big sign near the door. Jen and Amy volunteer to get the food, and the rest of us take the stacked plates and cups and set up 13 place settings. As I'm putting forks to the right of each plate, someone calls my name. I look up and see Quinn waving at me from the table next to ours. It has a blue 7 on it. I smile and wave back.
    "How's the head?" he shouts.
"Great!" I say, and give a thumbs up. Lame.
"Who is that?" Dell asks. Her dark hair is cut into a bob-style this year.
"Just some kid that almost knocked me up - OUT. I mean he almost knocked me out... Not up," I say, totally blushing. Everyone laughs at me and I feel so stupid.
"Something wicked this way comes," Ringo says.
"Sorry I'm late, girls," Arabella says.
"Did you change your clothes?" Ringo asks with wide, incredulous eyes.
"Yeah, I've been traveling in those clothes all day. Three hours in a plane, two hours in a car..." She's changed from her blue dress to a red, strapless top and a jean skirt. She's gotten rid of her sunglasses and has her long, dark hair pushed back with a headband. "What's for dinner?"
"Spaghetti and garlic bread!" Amy says, putting it on the table.
"Hope you weren't planning on hooking up with that Quinn kid, Cat. At least, not if you eat the garlic bread," Arabella says, and winks. "Is there salad?"
"Yeah, you can go up to the salad bar over there, if you want," Amy says, pointing it out through the crowd. "Not yet, though. We have to have our moment of silence."
"Come on girls, sit down," Lauren says, sitting down at one end of the table. At the other end sits the other counselor, Becky.
We all sit, and as soon as we have our moment of silence, we dig in. A few people get up for salad, but the rest of us are fine with spaghetti. I find Natasha and wave to her, then wave to Amanda. Apparently, there are only 6 girls in her division, so they combined her table with the boys of the same division. She has her arms wrapped around some boy. Andrew. They hook up every summer, but they're definitely not a couple. They just like to fool around together. He lives in Colorado, so they never see each other outside of camp. She sees me and waves back.
I find myself looking at Quinn. He's ridiculously cute. I've only ever had one camp romance. It was the summer before eighth grade. Some boy in Amanda's division. I had really liked him, but he didn't come back the next summer.
"This lettuce is so bitter. I can't eat it," Arabella says, but we all ignore her. She shoves it to the side and sips at her water.
We continue to eat in peace, chatting the whole time. We learn that Arabella lives in Palm Beach, Florida. The two other new girls, Anna and Bailey, are really sweet. They make up for the two other girls that hadn't come back this year.
When we're done, Jen and Amy clear the dishes and then we walk back to our bunk together. When we get back, we create the "job wheel," with 6 jobs for us 6 girls so we can alternate jobs every day. Tomorrow I have sweeping duty. Definitely not the worst job. Lucky Arabella gets "checker," which means she gets to tell us if the room looks clean enough. When we're all done with assigning jobs, we change into sweatpants and sweatshirts then head down to the pit which is on the edge of the water. A few other bunks are already there.
"I wonder what we're doing at this 'special gathering,'" Leena says.
We mumble our agreements, and take the few remaining log benches near the fire. We guess at what we're going to be doing while the rest of the bunks arrive. I look at my watch. Quarter to nine.
"Hey, kid," Amanda says, coming up behind me and kissing me on the head. She walks off before I have time to react. I see Quinn on the other side of the fire and he waves to me.
"Alrighty campers! I'm Sean, for those of you who don't know me!" Sean stands on a big stump. He runs the camp. "Hope you're enjoying yourselves so far! Tonight we're going to have a little competition, between the boys and the girls, and I was thinking something along the lines of.... A SING-OFF!"
Is it too confusing with so many names and people?
I know this chapter is lame.
    Give me some good feedback!

I get out of the car, and rain splashes against my face. So much for it letting up... I walk around the car to where Dad is getting everything out of back, putting it in a pile. I swing my back pack up and around my shoulders. Amanda, Natasha, and I grab our stuff, then head over to the "Check In" area. We dump our stuff with the rest of the bags, trunks, pillows, and blankets.
    "Eee! Amanda!" some girl shrieks.
"Hey Becca!" Amanda says and gives the girl a friendly hug. "What bunk are you in?"
"8A," Becca says, checking the standard three page information packet handed out upon check-in. "You?"
"I don't know yet," Amanda says, then turns to Natasha and me. "Let's check in."
We head over to the table where two girls with ponytails sit with paper and t-shirts.
"Amanda, Cat, and Natasha Queensley," Amanda says, pointing to both of us.
"Ah, welcome back, Queensleys! Here are your information packets and t-shirts. Size small for you all, I assume? And Amanda, here is your Junior Counselor in Training badge."
I grab my information packet, and look at the top right corner where "7B" is circled in red ink. I smile then the three of us walk back to where our parents stand, chatting with some other parents.
"Time to say goodbye?" Dad says, pulling us all into a group hug.
"Bye, Dad. Bye, Mom." The hugging continues for a few minutes, then we say our final goodbyes.
My parents are finally gone. I get my stuff together and carry it pack mule style down the rest of the dirt road with my sisters. As we walk over a hill, I get my first good look at Lake Windsor. It sparkles under the late afternoon light.
As we reach the bottom of the hill, we're really into the camp. The main building is on the left, with some trails behind it. Then a little up ahead is the mess hall, or cafeteria, with the infirmary attached. Then there are the tennis courts, swings, a seesaw, and of course tether-ball. Then up on a hill is the recreation building. It's huge. It has a big room with a piano, pool and pingpong, board games, and a bunch of other stuff.
People are everywhere, running around, saying hello after a long year apart. I see a bunch of familiar faces, and some new ones, too.
Finally we're at the bunks. There are 16 of them, 8 for the girls and 8 for the boys. The girls bunks are on the left side of the bank, facing the lake, and the boys on the right side. There are other cabins scattered throughout camp as well that have been added as more people began to come.
There are two sides the cabins, A and B, with a bathroom in the middle. The showers are off in another building, unfortunately. The front doors to the cabins are on the opposite side of the lake. Then the other side of the cabin has a deck that goes over the lake.
"Here's your bunk, Tasha," Amanda says as we approach the fourth cabin on the right side. "You all set? We'll check in later."
Amanda and I continue on until we reach the last two cabins.
"This is where we part," I say.
She winks then walks off. I drag my stuff up the stairs and into the cabin 7B. Instantly, I find myself wrapped in at least three pairs of arms.
"Cat! You're so late, we were getting wicked nervous!" the tall, scrawny girl with red hair and a smokey voice says.
"Don't worry, Daisy. I would never skip camp," I say as I survey the room. All of the six bunks are taken except two. I throw my stuff on the bottom bunk, sighing with relief. I'm not a top bunk kind of girl. I turn around and face the four girls, Daisy, Ringo, Amy, and Leena. Daisy is staring at me with her big green eyes. Ringo is your average crazy chick with no conscience. She has crazy curly blonde hair and these bright blue eyes that can make your blood go cold if she looks at you the wrong way. Amy is gentle as a flower, and always has her books. Her hair that was normally brown and frizzy was now gleaming and wavy. Leena is who you want to turn to if you're in need of some juicy gossip. She knows everyone and everything. And she's gorgeous; she's skinny but curvy, tan, with straight, long dark blond hair. Even though she's a gossip, she's always there if you need someone to talk to.
"So, how was your year?" Ringo asks, bounding over and grabbing me in a painfully tight hug.
"It was good," I say, gasping for air.
"That's good, I've got a great story to tell-" Ringo stops short. She turns her head to look at something. My jaw drops. In the doorway is absolutely the most gorgeous girl you have ever seen. Tall, like Amazon woman tall, with dark skin, dark hair, dark eyes, and perfect dark eyebrows. She's clad in a short blue dress and sunglasses, even though it's still raining.
"This is cabin 7B, right?" she asks in a serious tone.
    "Sure is," Ringo says.
    "Well, then hi roomies."
She walks in, and following her are a middle aged couple, clearly her parents. They drop her two trunks and three suitcases in the middle of the room. Daisy, Ringo, Amy, Leena and I watch silently as they say their goodbyes.
"So," the girl says. "I'm Arabella. I'm going to need a bottom bunk.
"Sorry, they're all taken," Amy says softly.
"Uh. I said I NEED a bottom bunk. Clearly this one is up for grabs, it's not made yet."
"Yeah, that's because I just got here," I say. "I've already claimed it. Sorry."
"Rule number one: never say sorry," she says, then slowly her lips turn upward into a smile. "The bottom bunk is mine."
"Fine, I like the top bunk anyways," I mumble.
"Good. I don't want to make trouble."
The five of us stare at each other as Arabella rummages through her purse.
This is going to be a rough summer, I think to myself.
It's not just gonna be about the bitchy bunkmate, so don't lose hope yet. I'll write more tomorrow!

    Everybody Lies
    Chapter Sixteen
I slept the rest of the day, and the next day.... And most of the next. Paul stopped by periodically. The doctors said he was free to go, but he still spent every night on the couch in my room. Andy was responding to treatment well, and the doctors said she'd be free to go in less than a week.
At the end of the day on monday, I got some visitors.
    "Ritchie!!!!"
"Hey guys," I said as Chelsea, Rain, Kristen, Charles and some other people walked in.
"You're looking good," Chelsea said. I laughed at that.
"They had a special assembly for you today in school, about drunk drivers," Rain said.
    "That's embarrassing," I mumbled.
"No, not at all," Rain said.
"Are you kidding me?" Chelsea said. "I'd be mortified if there was a special assembly for me..."
I blushed. "Can we change the subject?"
"Of course," Chelsea said. "So, when can we officially call Paul your boyfriend?"
I took a deep breath. "Not yet." I realized if it was official, I would be cheating on him with Joey, the same way Joey was cheating on Chelsea with me.
    "Well, keep us updated."
"So are you coming to school tomorrow?" Rain asked.
"Yup, I'm gonna try," I said. "I dunno if I'm gonna be able to use crutches though.... But hey, wheelchairs are pretty sexy."
"Oh, that sucks," Chelsea said. "But we promise to help you out."
"Thanks, guys," I said. "But if I really am going to school tomorrow, I'm gonna need some rest."
    "Alright, bye Ritchie!"
    -----
"Oh my gosh, Ritchie, I'm so sorry, do you need any help with your bag?" some random person asked as I struggled out of the car on tuesday morning.
"Um, not now," I said to the stranger. "Thanks, though."
"Ok Ritchie sweetie, you call me if you need to get picked up," my mom said as she lowered me into the wheelchair.
"Yes mom," I said, and wheeled myself over to the auditorium.
They mentioned me in assembly, and everyone turned and saw me in my wheelchair at the top of the stairs. I blushed. I hated having people stare at me.
First period, I had Spanish. Great, Sean was going to see me looking like a freak. No big deal, or anything.
As the door of the elevator was closing, a hand appeared and stopped it.
    "Ritchie." It was Joey.
"This elevator is only going up about 15 feet. If you have something to say, you better say it fast," I said, trying to make room for him in the small space.
"I don't have anything to say," Joey said, and as soon as the doors closed, he leaned down and, putting his hands on my face, kissed me. When the elevator "dinged," signifying our arrival, I gently pushed Joey away.
"Here are your books," Joey said, as the doors opened.
"Thanks," I said, placing the books softly on my right leg. Joey pushed me out of the elevator as the bell rang.
"I have to get to class, think you can make it from here?"
    "Yes, Joey," I said, smiling.
I wheeled myself down the hall. Everything was going smoothly until I dropped all my books on the floor. I swore loudly. I tried bending over to get them, but I was still sore.
"Here, let me get those," someone said from behind me. He bent over, and when he stood up and handed me the books, I saw it was Sean. I smiled at him, but he glanced at my books with a strange look on his face.
"Here you go," Sean said, giving me the books. I then understood why he looked at them funny. On my spanish book was a sticky note, with a big heart, signed by Joey. "Need anything else?"
"Um, I'm all set. Thanks a lot."
"Here, I'll wheel you to class," he said with a charming half-smile. "That's a nasty cut on your head."
"Goes nicely with the black eye, doesn't it?" I said. He laughed.
"I wasn't going to say anything about that."
"It's nothing compared to my leg." I lifted up my skirt, just enough to show the huge bandage. I realized what I was doing was pretty awkward, so I pulled my skirt back over it.
"Pretty brutal," he said. He looked at the sticky note briefly, but I covered it with my hand. "Joey? Who is Joey?"
    "Oh, he's nobody, I-"
"Do you mean Joe Simmons? Chelsea Adams' boyfriend?"
"Listen, it's not what you think, I can explain."
    "Hmmm?"
"I... I'm supposed to give that note to Ch-chelsea when I see her," I said, stuttering.
"Right... You're not a very good liar, Guadalupe," Sean said, using my spanish class name again like he usually did.
I looked down at my books. "Please don't tell anyone," I whispered. "It's not a big deal."
He looked unconvinced, but he nodded as he pushed me into the spanish room to my seat, and sat next to me.
The rest of the day was ridiculous. Random people I had never spoken to in my life kept offering me help. I hated all the attention. It was such a relief to go home and take a nap. I did some of my homework, then watched TV the rest of the night.
The next day at school wasn't much different, except I learned to embrace the help from certain people, like Sean. Jimmy Ramsey even helped me out getting to study hall. He wheeled me over to where Chelsea was sitting alone, with her head down on her arms.
"Hey Chels," I said, poking her.
She looked up. He face was stained with tears, and her eyes were puffy.
    "Whoa," I said. "What's wrong?"
"I think... I-I... I think Joe-Joey is going to b-break u-up... Break up with me!" she stuttered, then broke into tears. I patted her on the back gently. I glanced at Jimmy, who was watching us.
"It'll be okay... What happened? Do you want to talk about it?"
"Well, he called me last night. And he started saying... Well. It doesn't matter. But we were yelling at each other. I mean, it's not like we've never fought before. But this time we were shouting. For three hours! He said we had to talk today..... I'm so scared. He's the greatest boyfriend ever."
Oh, no. That feeling... That aching, bitter feeling of guilt. It had finally consumed me. I couldn't stand being a relationship ruiner.
"Chelsea... I have to tell you something."
Ugh, this is so frustrating. I know exactly how it's going to end, but I can't make it interesting until then. Anyways. Hope it isn't terrible...

    Everyone Lies
    Chapter Fifteen
I woke up from a drug induced nap saturday afternoon, to a women changing the bandages on my leg for the fifth time that day. I shut my eyes every time she took them off because I was scared of what it might look like, but this time I wasn't expecting it so I caught a glimpse of the mangled flesh on my left thigh. My jaw dropped, and I looked at the nurse who shook her head. She walked out of the room quickly, and came back moments later with a male doctor.
I blocked out what they said, but it had something to do with my leg bleeding too much. When they put the bandages on again, it was tight and uncomfortable.
To take away the focus on my leg, I looked at the bouquet of flowers on my bedside stand. It was a beautiful arrangement, but I'll be damned if I can name the different types of flowers. I grabbed the card that was tucked into the arrangement, and ripped it open. I expected it to be from Paul, or maybe Randy, but I was wrong. Here's what it said.
Hey Ritchie. I'm so sorry about everything. I've been a jerk, and then to top it off you get hit by truck. I think we should talk, so give me a call, or maybe I'll stop by.
    Feel better
    Joey.
That was sweet of him, I thought.
As I reread the card, Paul came in.
"Hey," he said, giving me a kiss on the cheek.
"Howdy," I said, turning his head to kiss him on the lips. When we broke apart, we stared into each other's eyes for a few moments, then he leaned down and put his arms on either side of me, kissing me roughly. I put my arms around his neck, trying to ignore the pain in my shoulder, and kissed him back. He kissed me on my neck, and I ran my fingers through his hair. He moved onto the hospital bed, where we continued to make out.
After ten minutes, I groaned in pain. I was so sore from the crash.
"I'm sorry," Paul said, brushing my hair behind my ear.
"Stop saying that." I kissed him lightly on the corner of the mouth.
"I know, I'm sorry - Well, you know what I mean," he said, smiling, but then his face grew serious. "I heard the doctors say your leg isn't healing properly. It keeps opening up."
I nodded and gently touched the bandages, traces of blood already showing through.
"You're going to be okay," Paul promised.
"I hope so." I yawned. "I'm going back to sleep. I'm so tired all the time."
"Yeah, you've lost a lot of blood and you're taking some serious pain medications." He kissed my forehead. "I'll let you sleep."
    ---------
"Hey, sleepy head," someone said as I regained consciousness.
    "Hmmmm.." I grumbled.
    "It's Joey."
My eyes shot open, revealing Joey smiling next to my bed.
    "Hey," I said, smiling.
    "How ya doing?" he asked.
"I'm going crazy. I need to get out of this bed," I said, shifting into a more comfortable position.
"Do you want me to get the nurse? I'm sure she'd let us sit on the couch," Joey said, and went to get the nurse's permission. While he was gone, I wondered where Paul was.
As soon as Joey came back, we struggled to get me to the couch. By the time I was "comfortably" sitting, I was breathing heavily from the pain. Joey came and sat next to me, offering a candy bar he'd gotten from the vending machine. I suddenly realized just how hungry I was.
"So, what's the diagnosis?" Joey asked.
"On my physical condition or our relationship?" I asked, looking him in the eye.
    "Both."
"Well, I have a broken leg, a huge gash on my other leg, moderately dislocated shoulder, some seriously bruised ribs, and this lovely black eye. I think I pull the whole look off, though. And our relationship... Well, you tell me."
He looked uncomfortable, but answered me anyways. "Well, I want you to know I haven't stopped thinking about what you said that night. About our relationship only being based on the excitement and the thrill of... You know. But I don't think that's true. I really like you, and I want to make you happy. So I've set up a date with Chelsea, and I'm going to end our relationship. At least that was my plan before I saw the way you looked at that other kid, Paul."
"But-" I stopped. I really had no idea what to say. I had feelings for both Paul and Joey. I continued talking. "Listen, I don't want to ruin your relationship with Chelsea, but I still want to be with you. It's just getting a little stressful for me, and I'm sure it is for you, too. I like you, but don't do anything you don't want to do."
I thought I had said some pretty wise words, but Joey didn't see it that way. He frowned.
"You're acting like a coward, Ritchie." The words stung. "In our situation, clearly something has to change. Either I end it with Chelsea, or you and me stop seeing each other. We can't go on like this forever, you said it yourself."
I was startled by the harshness in his voice, but I took a deep breath and continued.
"Listen, we shouldn't talk about about this now. I'm on a ton of medications and even that isn't getting rid of the pain. I'm not thinking clearly."
"You're right." His voice softened. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that like I did."
He put his arm around my shoulders, and as I grimaced from the pain, he kissed me gently on the lips.
"Miss Anderson, it's time to take a look at that leg," a nurse said, but then blushed when she saw us. "Oh, I'll be back in a moment."
"I guess that means I have to go," Joey said, kissing me on the cheek. "Feel better."
"Thank you. And thanks for the flowers."
As Joey left, and I realized I was stuck on the couch until the nurse came back, I thought about both Paul and Joey. Paul was charming, funny, levelheaded, and always made me feel good about myself. Joey was sweet, independent, witty, and had a very strong sense of self. Paul was sensitive to everything, whereas Joey knew exactly what he wanted. Then I thought about my own personality and which of Paul or Joey's personality complimented mine best, but then realized I didn't really have one, and was completely bland and boring.
Oh, Ricarda, I said to myself. You have some serious thinking to do.
Thanks for reading yet another lame chapter.
I'm not sure if I've said Ritchie's last name before, but it's Anderson. Sorry if I have it as something different in a previous chapter :\

    Chapter Thirteen
I arrived home in a daze. I went straight to bed, and thought about everything. I really liked Paul, and my feelings for Joey were starting to fade. I still liked Joey, but I was getting tired of the stress... When I finally fell asleep, I dreamed about Joey and I getting married, but then Chelsea interrupted our wedding, and Paul came and rescued me...
I woke up at noon, and sent a quick text to Paul saying I had fun last night, and then read one I got from Joey that said "i know i told you i'd break up with chelsea, but i can't do it right before the dance. seeing you with paul made me realize i really like you, and i know that's how you probably feel when you see me with chelsea. i'm sorry."
I smiled, but deleted it anyway, just in case someone found it. I went down stairs, and on the kitchen table was a big box. I shrieked excitedly.
"MOM! Are these my dresses?!" I asked, grabbing a knife to cut the tape on the box from Urban Outfitters.
"Yup, they arrived just after you left for Rain's house yesterday," she said as she walked over. "Do I get to see them all?"
I rolled my eyes and said, "Maybe. Can I invite Rain over? It's the last day before school starts, please please!"
My mom said yes and I quickly texted Rain asking her to come over. She lived right around the corner so she was there in a few minutes. When she arrived, we ran straight up stairs and I tried on the dresses. The first one was silver and gray, with a sweetheart neckline, but it was a little big. I tried on the next one which was strapless and had big flowers on it, but it was not flattering. At all. I tried on the last one, which was bright red, strapless, with a pleated bodice. It was gorgeous. The color was amazing, it was flattering, and it was really sexy. I tried on the Micheal Kors shoes I'd gotten a week earlier at Macy's. They were black and strappy, with a zipper down the front. I looked hot, to say the least.
Rain and I talked about the semi-formal dance for about 2 hours. We made plans to go to her dad's house to get ready together before, because it was so close to the hotel where it was being held.
The week went by quickly, even though I had so much homework.
I got bad news on Thursday, though. Rain told me I couldn't come over before semi because her sister was home from college, and she was going to the semi for fun, so they were getting ready together. I didn't have any time to make plans so at the end of the day on Friday, I went home, watched TV, then took a shower and got ready. Paul and I had made plans to have his older brother and his girlfriend take us to semi, and then they were going to go out to dinner.
I didn't do anything with my hair, because my dress was so fancy and I didn't want to look like I was trying too hard. I put on black eyeliner and a light pink eye shadow, with a bright red lipstick. I put on 5 coats of mascara, then sprayed myself with perfume as I heard a car pull up the drive way. As I was putting my high heals on, the doorbell rang. I ran as fast as I could to the door, and swung it open. A gust of cold wind made goose bumps rise up on my arms.
"Hey handsome," I said, hugging Paul.
"Hey gorgeous," he said, and gave me a kiss on the cheek.
I grabbed my coat, kissed my mom goodbye, and went out to the car.
I slid in, and said hi to his brother and his girlfriend. His brother, Randy, was nearly as hot as Paul, except with a scar above his left eyebrow. His girlfriend, Andy (yes, Randy and Andy) was stunning. She was thin, with porcelain skin, straight blonde hair, ice blue eyes and freckles. I looked at myself and thought Paul deserves someone beautiful, like her.
"So, Ritchie, we've heard a lot about you," Randy said.
"Yeah, but you're about ten times more beautiful than he said," Andy said and winked, something I could not do for the life of me.
I blushed and looked at Paul, who was blushing, too.
We talked about a bunch of random stuff for a really long time. Randy was absolutely hilarious. We were talking about House, my favorite TV show, and then That 70's Show when we realized there's an Eric Forman in both shows. Yeah. Random.
Then the conversation shifted. Randy and Andy started talking to each other, and Paul reached over and grabbed my hand.
"You're absolutely stunning," he said, giving my hand a squeeze.
    "Thanks, I--"
"RANDY, LOOK OUT!" Paul shouted, and Andy and I screamed as bright headlights blinded my vision and the sound of crashing metal and glass rang in my ears.
Thanks for reading guys! I'll try to put up the next chapter as soon as I can, but school is pretty crazy right now. So tell me what you think!

    Chapter Eleven
Paul and I split up. He stuck with his friends, and I stuck with mine. The rest of the day seemed to go on forever. All the girls were trying to get information out of me about what Paul and I had been doing. I was relieved to find out they hadn't seen the kiss, even if it wasn't that big of a deal. I was mainly glad Joey hadn't seen. Eventually, they grew tired of the topic, just as I was about to leave. We all said bye, and that was that.
The rest of the week was lame. I had a few major tests, so life pretty much revolved around my schoolwork. That weekend got better, to say the least. I got a text from Joey telling me his parents were going to be gone from 4 to 11 on saturday night. I told my mom there was going to be a group of us hanging at his house. My mom doesn't really care much about what I do. She thinks I'm responsible, which I am, but I wasn't sure she'd like it if it was just Joey and I home alone at his house. She agreed to drive me over.
I hopped out of the car. I didn't want to look to cute, in case my mom got suspicious, so I was wearing jeans and a sweatshirt over a black tank top, with my black boots. I was really nervous. I knew I didn't want to "do it" with him, and I was pretty sure I'd be able to say no if he asked. All I really wanted to do was talk to him, cuddle a little, and watch movies, which is what he'd said we'd be doing.
I walked in, and he was there in gray sweat pants and a t-shirt. He looked adorable. He came over and wrapped me in his arms. He smelled delicious.
"Hi," I said, when we broke apart.
"Hey," he said with a crooked smile that made me want to kiss him.
So I did. I stood up on my toes and kissed him on the lips. It was a nice kiss. I put my hands around his neck, and he put his arms around my waste. He picked me up and put me down on the couch, where we made out for at least twenty minutes. I eventually got really hot and had to take my sweatshirt off, which Joey took as an invitation to get more intense. He ended up on top of me on the couch, in full make out mode, which I was totally fine with. He was moaning softly. I took his shirt off, and his skin was warm under my fingers. He was about to pull my shirt off, too, when his phone vibrated. I grabbed it off the table and looked at it. "One new message(s) from Chelsea."
I sighed and sat up, handing him the phone. I pulled my shirt down, suddenly really self conscious.
Joey quickly read it, and shrugged. "It's no big deal. I can ignore it. Want to watch a movie?"
"Sounds good," I said, scooting closer to him. "My mom is gonna pick me up at ten."
"Ok," he said, getting up. "What do you want to watch?"
We ended up watching a really old James Bond movie, one with Sean Connery. I am, and will forever be, in love with the James Bond books and movies. Call me a freak, but it's my dream in life to become a spy. But we'd both already seen it, so we did a lot of kissing instead. Half way through the movie, we made dinner, which was just ramen noodles. As we were cleaning up our food, Joey got another text from Chelsea. This time he didn't read it, but I could tell he wanted to.
"Listen," I said seriously. "I want to talk."
Joey looked uncomfortable, but he said "Yeah? What about?"
"About... Everything. I can't stand it much longer. I want to be with you, but it's really against my better judgement. I mean, how can I really know you feel the same way about me if you're with Chelsea? I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Some one is going to get hurt in all of this, and I'm not going to be selfish and say I'm only worried about me, because I'm not. I just feel like-"
"I know," he said, and grabbed my hands. "Listen Ritchie. I really like you. But I'm a people pleaser, and I'd hate to see either you or Chelsea get hurt. I'm just trying to figure out the right way to let go of Chelsea, you know? You can trust me."
"How can I be sure, though? And what's going to happen when, if, you break up with Chelsea. It's not like we can just become public right away, and if I have to keep this a secret much longer, I'm not sure my feelings for you will last. I mean, they'll still be there, but I won't know what to do with them if you're still with Chelsea. And sometimes I feel like our relationship is only fueled by the excitement, the thrill, of everything. I just can't be sure of anything." I was getting worked up. I was just letting my feelings about the last few months roll out of me. I continued babbling for a while, but then realized I was repeating myself, and not making much sense. I stopped mid-sentence.
"Ritchie, you're over thinking it," Joey said.
"Maybe it's just that I'm the only one who's thinking rationally here. Have you even thought about what we're doing?" I asked, incredulous at his impassiveness.
"Of course I have Ritchie. I'm just sort of living in the moment, ya know?"
Living in the moment. How I hated that term. I just could never relate to it. I guess in any situation I was ever in, I had to look at every detail, every possible outcome. Living in the moment, to me, was senseless, because there is always going to be some consequence, either good or bad, based on our every action. But I let it go, which was probably a bad idea.
"Maybe you're right. Maybe I am over thinking it. That doesn't mean I think what we're doing is right, but I'm willing to overlook that for now," I said doubtfully, but wrapped my arms around his waste nonetheless.
"Good," he said, and carried me back to the couch, where we let off all our extra steam in a rough make out session. In my opinion, the night ended too quickly.
Sorry they're getting so long! I can't seem to shorten them... Anyways, you know the drill: tell me what you think :]

    Chapter Nine
I walked back slowly in the dark, thinking about how that person who was with Joey a few minutes ago was not me. I would never in a million years have thought that I would become that person. But now I wasn't thinking about ways to set things straight, I was thinking of ways to be with Joey. I was clearly blinded by the thrill of it all.
When I got back in the basement, Chelsea was still with Jimmy, sitting on the couch with a couple other people. I saw him put his hand on her knee, and she didn't even do anything about it. She just giggled. What was with her and giggling? I walked over, hoping I didn't look as flustered as I felt.
"Hey Ritchie," Chelsea said, and stood up. "You ok? Your face is really red."
"Oh, yeah, I'm fine. I see you're getting cozy with Jimmy," I said, pulling her away a little bit.
"Yeah right. We're just friends. I would never cheat on Joey. He's the best boyfriend a girl could dream of," she said.
    "Right..." I felt guilty.
She giggled. If she giggles one more time... I thought.
"Hey." It was Joey. He didn't look one bit flustered.
"Hey, where've you been?" Chelsea asked, grabbing his hands.
"I was trying to sneak some beer from the cooler upstairs," he said slyly. "The grownups are guarding it like hawks though. Whatever, it was worth a shot." He winked at me.
I felt my face get even redder. "Well, I'm gonna go watch the guys play pool," I said, and awkwardly stumbled off.
The rest of the night was lame. A couple people eventually got hold of some beer, but I didn't have any for myself. So I sat alone for a while, until Paul came up and talked to me.
"Hey, want a sip?" he asked. I figured a tiny bit wouldn't hurt, so I said yes. I'd had beer before, but never without getting a parent's consent. It tasted good.
"Thanks," I said, handing the can back.
"No problem. So, are you having fun?" he asked.
    "Yup."
    "You sure?"
"Yeah, I'm just a little partied out, ya know? I think I'm coming down with a cold or something, too," I lied.
"Bummer. So you said your name was Ritchie, right? Is that short for something?" he asked.
"Ricarda. Don't even bother asking where the name came from," I said. I hated explaining that my name was completely random, and didn't have to do with my heritage or anything. My parents just had to pick a weird name for me...
"Well, I think it's cute," he said, and smiled.
"Thanks. So where do you go to school?"
"I'm a sophomore at Biddeford. But I live in Conworth."
"Oh really? That's like, ten minutes from where I live!" I said, probably a little more enthusiastic about it than was necessary.
"That's cool. Hey, can you put your number in my phone?" he asked, and handed me an iPhone. I put in my number and handed it back to him. He texted me ";)" so I had his number, too. I giggled when I got it, then looked back his face. He had dark hazel eyes, and thick eyelashes.
"Hey, you've got really pretty eyes," he said. Why was every boy suddenly so attracted to me?
"Really? I think they're boring. They aren't blue, but they aren't green..."
"Yeah, that's what I like about them," he cut me off before I started babbling. I could have sworn he'd started to lean in, as if he was going to give me a kiss, but Chelsea, Joey, and Rain walked up, so I'll never know.
"Ritchie, we have to go," Rain said.
"Um, ok. Bye, Paul," I said, and got up to leave. Joey and I locked eyes as I was walking up the stairs.
Ugh. I have no idea where to go from here. I feel like that chapter was really lame. Please give me some suggestions :\

    Everyone Lies
    Chapter Seven
The next few weeks before Thanksgiving break were pretty boring. Joey and I pretended like nothing happened, but we we caught each other's eye a lot. And I didn't talk to Sean much more, either. He was out with mono for three weeks, anyways.
One day at lunch, I was sitting with Rain and Chelsea, when Joey came and sat down next to Chelsea.
"Hey babe," she said, and put her hand on his thigh, while he put his arm around her waste. I felt my face heat up.
"Hey," he said and leaned in for a peck on the cheek. I caught his eye as he did so.
Chelsea giggled, just as Jimmy Ramsey walked by, clearly looking at her.
"Oh my gosh, did you see him looking?" she asked. "But he doesn't like me, I'm fat."
Rain, Joey and I all rolled our eyes. Joey stood up and reached his hand down for Chelsea. She got up and they both left. Through the window, I could see them holding hands and laughing as they walked away.
"Do you think they've done it?" I asked Rain abruptly.
"Nah, I don't think so," she said. "But she's on the pill, and I know she wants to."
"Huh," I said. "They're a really cute couple."
We shifted the conversation, and that was that. I didn't want to seem to interested.

The next few weeks went by really fast. Only three more weeks until Christmas break. Kristen was throwing another party, and I was going to get ready with Rain. This party was going to be huge. Families were invited, too, and apparently Kristen's super hot cousin was going to be there. I wanted to make sure I looked great, so I went out shopping and got a new pair of skinny jeans, that were slightly ripped, and a black off the shoulder shirt with a red cardigan. The party was supposed to be a fancy christmas party, so I bought some great black high healed boots, that had buckles on the front. I'd never actually worn heals before, but I looked really good in them.
I packed everything up and headed to Rain's house. I couldn't wait until I could drive. Next summer I'd turn 15 and be able to take driver's ed. But for now I'm stuck with my mom driving me.
Rain and I got ready together. I put my hair in a messy ponytail, then straightened my bangs. I stuck with my dark purple eyeliner and bronze eye shadow, and four layers of mascara. Rain wore a black skirt and a dark green sweater over a white lacy tank top, with her black combat boots. She was a little bit shorter than me, and a little bit heavier, with thick dark blonde hair that was wavy and usually had some sort of color in it, right now purple.
We got to Kristen's party at 8:30. This time, every one was in the basement, where there was music and games, a pool table AND a pingpong table, a big couch, and a ton of food. Chelsea was already there with Joey, in total make out mode. Same with Kelsey and Chris
Rain and I walked over to Kristen and Laurie, who were trying to get a game of spin the bottle going. I didn't feel like playing so I went over to the food and started nibbling on a cookie. Joey came over, and filled up two cups with punch. He looked at me, but didn't say anything. Instead, he reached in his pocket and took out a piece of paper, which he placed on the table. He winked at me then walked away.
I looked around, then picked up the piece of paper and read it.
Meet me behind the bushes out back, by the trampoline in twenty minutes.
    <3 Joey
I smiled and thought to myself, how mysterious. I wasn't even thinking about how potentially bad this could turn out.
