PROLOUGE:
The broken clock hung upon the wall, the second hand ticking irregularly. The two girls sat in the Alternative
Room, waiting for the school day to finally end. They had never met, never spoken before. Little did they know,
these two girls had so much in common. The bell sounded, and the teacher that got punished with detention
duty dismissed them. As soon as the door swung open, they parted ways, not knowing the next time they met
would be in a horrible situation.
CHAPTER 1:
Anna Hedson's slender fingers curled around her number two pencil, carefully sketching a beautiful, night-
time scene. Her medium-length brown hair was tucked behind her ear, showing off her slender nose and soft,
brown eyes. The only noise in the room was the gentle ticking of the wall clock, which has always been 23
minutes behind. This classroom was all too fimilar to Anna, for she was abducted and hidden away in the
terribly small room. It was almost a month before anyone else found her. She was visited twice a day by the
masked man, only to eat. Anna had put that all behind her, but the vague memories of that terrible period
of time would always linger in the back of her mind.
Alice never knew her last name. Everyone just referred to her as, Alice. Alice was a very short girl with
short black hair, and very pale skin, a perfect complexion. Her huge, black eyes stared mindlessly at the wall
behind the principal. She could hear her talking, but wasn't really listening. Why would she, she's heard it
all before! Once again, Alice had a 3 day suspension. For the rest of the day, she would be sitting in the
Alternative Room, where detention was held. Everything looked as it always did. Alice was sitting across the
table and three seats away from Anna. They had never seen each other, both completely unaware that the other
girl had existed, up until that point. Every now and then, Alice and Anna would look up and their eyes would
lock, forcing a small smile out of one of them. They didn't know that their upcoming friendship would be very
complicated.
The teacher's booming voice interupted the deadly silence with the simple words, "Anna, are you taking the
bus today?" She shook her head. When the bell sounded, Alice and Anna both headed for the door, still not
saying a single word to each other. The thought of two girls being so close, mentally, but not knowing one
single thing about the other, was terrifying. Anna got into her moms car, and Alice got on the bus that
would take her home. Both rides were very silent, as they were thinking about eachother. How familar their
face seemed.
Alice reached her house and bolted upstairs to her room, not bothering to give her parents the letter she
had recieved from the principals. She locked the door and sat down at her computer, opening the lid to her
laptop. Her fingers moved swiftly across the keyboard as she entered her Facebook login. Before she had time
to search Anna, and hope they had enough mutual friends for her to show up, her parents called her down stairs,
and told her she needed to go outside and be active for a while. Alice sighed and hopped onto her bike, riding
towards the school. This town was just too small to do anything really. With one main road and one school, it
was the smallest town within a 100 mile radius. Many people couldn't even find it on the map. As Alice crossed
over the small creek, she saw a car flipped on it's side, no other vehicles around.
CHAPTER 2
Anna's bloody body sits mangled in the front seat. She was screaming for help, but Alice was the only one
that heard. Alice didn't have a cell phone, so after pulling Anna out of the front seat, she pulled Anna's
phone from her pocket and used it to dial 911. Glancing at the vehicle while Anna cried on her shoulder
