    More Than We Can Understand
    Part 12
Hayley woke up the next morning feeling happy. She hadn't felt this way in a long time, and she wasn't sure if she was comfortable with it all. It sounds ridiculous to feel uncomfortable when you're happy. But at least when Hayley wasn't happy, she didn't have the fear of regretting what made her feel so great. She started functioning this way after her family had moved, and she had to give up everything she loved. Then when she met Adam and he slept with other girls in Ocean City, it only made it worse.
Craig was pretty content himself. He faced his fear of performing for a crowd. Not to mention, he and Hayley could be considered as a couple. Their relationship moved fast, but Craig had no worry about that. Unlike Hayley, he was staying positive and wasn't scared about what could happen in the future.
Rain was pouring that afternoon. The beach was deserted and you couldn't see anyone walking along the road. Every drop hit Hayley's window hard, and the booming thunder had an echo. But Hayley found all these noises comforting, and decided to take a nap. As she was getting in her bed, there was a knock on her window. She opened the blinds to find Craig standing there, drenched.
"I've only been out here for a minute and look how soaked I am." He stated.
Hayley laughed. "Come inside. I'll grab you a towel."
Craig climbed through the window. Hayley rushed to get a towel before her bedroom floor was completely soaked. He stripped to his boxers, the only dry piece of clothing on him, and wrapped himself with the towel she gave him. Then, Hayley yawned and crawled back into her bed.
"Are you really taking a nap?" Craig asked.
    "I'm tired."
"Well what am I supposed to do while you sleep?"
    "Just come join me."

    More Than We Can Understand
    Part 10
Adam, Hayley's ex, noticed her staring. He smirked, and started coming closer to her. Hayley started to shake with anger and nervousness. But a rush of safety came over her as Craig's arm reached around her waist and held her tight. She looked up at him and smiled. Craig held her head in his hand and brought it close to his face, then their lips met. Adam stopped approaching an just stared as he watched a girl he knew he could instantly get back, kiss someone else.
Hayley pulled away and smiled then let Craig lead her down the boardwalk.
Out of no where, someone shouted "Craig! Here!"
The kid threw an acoustic guitar and Craig just caught it by the neck. Hayley still confused by the whole situation, was still holding onto Craig, following his every move. He slowed down and sat on an empty bench, then signaled Hayley to sit beside him.
"What are you doing?" Hayley asked.
"Before I do anything, I want to get something cleared up... You like me, don't you?" Craig smiled.
Hayley, not sure how to answer this, got defensive, "No I don't!"
    "Oh really?"
    "...Yes"
"Then I need to change your mind." He stood up on the bench.
"EVERYONE!" Craig shouted into the mob of people walking by. "CAN I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION?!"
Not everyone, but many stopped and looked to see what he had to say.
"Hi, um, I'm Craig. The girl next to me, this is Hayley. I like her." Craig stopped to let the crowd "Aw".
"But she says she doesn't like me. Now I want to prove to her, and everyone else here, that she should change her mind."
Craig wrapped the guitar strap around his shoulders and started strumming. Hayley, was left speechless, and the crowd watched in awe to see some random boy show how much he cared about this one girl. Craig then opened his mouth, and actually sang.
"There was a new girl in town, she had it all figured out."
He was singing Into Your Arms by the Maine. The butterflies grew in Hayley's stomach as he kept singing and playing. When he was done, the crowd applauded and Hayley still sat there speechless. Only now, she was blushing and trying to hold back her smile.

    More Than We Can Understand
    Part 8
Their night was quiet, but in a positive way. Just sitting next to each other in the sand, listening to the water and whispers of others around them. They had a few conversations here and there, but the silence was more powerful. Craig would glance at Hayley, Hayley would glance at Craig, both of them wondering if something more than talking was going to happen. The dark sky was getting lighter and lighter, and Craig didn't want to wait any longer. He stared at Hayley, waiting for her to look in his eyes. As soon as she turned her head, he pushed his face in front of hers and kissed her. Craig had been wanting to do that the whole night, and secretly, Hayley wanted it to happen too. He pulled away and smiled.
"I think it's time to go home." Craig whispered, keeping his face close to hers.
Hayley just looked down and nodded her head. They both got up from the sand and walked back to their condos. After exchanging quick smiles, they went inside and back to their beds.
Around noon, Hayley woke up and went into the kitchen. She went into her freezer, grabbed a waffle, and put it in the toaster, not acknowledging anyone else in the room.
"Hi Hayley." She heard Craig's voice from behind her. She turned around to see him sitting at the kitchen table with her dad.
"Uhh... Hi." Hayley didn't know how to react.
"Craig stopped by to ask if you weren't busy tonight." Hayley's father spoke. "Do you have anything planned?"
    Hayley shook her head.
"Well, you have my permission to take her out tonight." Hayley's dad looked back over at Craig. "It's just her decision now."
Her dad and Craig both looked at Hayley waiting for a response. She was still in shock that Craig was here and her parents were actually aware of it.
"Yeah. Sure." She managed to spit out.
Craig got up from the table. "Great, I'll see you at 6." He smiled at Hayley.
"Nice meeting you." He shook Hayley's father's hand, then walked out the door.
"He seems like a good kid." Her father smiled.
She just nodded her head and went off into her bedroom, completely forgetting about the waffle burning in the toaster.
Craig left Hayley's apartment with a feeling of satisfaction that he couldn't explain. For one, he had Hayley's family's approval. And second, he knew he did a good job teasing her. And if everything went right tonight, he'd feel even better.

    More Than We Can Understand
    Part 4
Hayley left her bedroom to check who had come inside the condo. It was just her little sister, Abbie. Although Abbie was only 11 years old, Hayley was jealous of her. She was so smart and mature for her age. She was naturally pretty too. No makeup was needed on her face, nor would it ever be needed. Hayley felt as though her parents favored Abbie sometimes, but she never wanted to admit to it.
"Why are you here?" Hayley asked.
"I just came back up to grab a towel." Abbie responded.
You could tell their relationship was not as good as it could be. They seemed more like strangers than sisters.
"Are you coming down to the beach?" Abbie asked.
Hayley nodded. "Let me just change real quick."
As Hayley turned her back and started to walk back to her room, she heard Abbie whisper something.
"What did you say?" Hayley asked.
"I know you went out last night. I know you always do. Hayley, where do you go? You come back into our room smelling like alcohol and smoke. Why do you do this?" Abbie's voice was shaking.
"Don't even talk about it." Hayley walked back into her room.
She changed into a bikini and walked out to see she was in the condo alone again. She went out the sliding back doors and walked onto the beach. Hayley saw Craig playing volleyball. She tried hiding her face, but she could feel his eyes on her back. Awkwardly, she turned around and went back inside her condo. Her desire to go to the beach suddenly faded away. Warm shower water was what she really needed at the moment. She still smelt and looked liked trash from last night. Her shower lasted for almost an hour, and when she was getting ready she took her time. She took so long that it was dark outside by the time she finished.
"We're going out for dinner tonight." Hayley's dad said once Hayley walked out of the bedroom.
    She just nodded her head.
"Are you okay?" He asked. "You didn't come to the beach today. And you've barely talked to us since you woke up."
"I'm fine. I don't really feel well." Hayley lied.
"Alright. Just stay home tonight." Her father kissed her head, and left the condo with the family once again.
Hayley watched out her window to see if her family had left the parking lot. Once they did, she climbed out her window, took a few steps, and knocked on the window next door.

    More Than We Can Understand
    Part 1
Everyone in the condo was asleep, finally. Hayley opened her bedroom window and quietly crawled out. She had become an expert at sneaking out since the first time she did 2 years ago. Her 14 year old self had almost gotten caught that time too, but she managed to lie her way out of that situation. Like she does with most problems she faces. She slid the window shut, and used it as a mirror. Her long hair was nice and straight, along with her dark make up looking perfect around her piercing grey eyes. She smiled to herself, admiring how good she looked. The smile faded though when she knew she would look like trash by the time she came home.
Hayley sprinted across the parking lot, using her hands to keep her short skirt down. She only had to run across the street, not as bad as last night was, running down 3 blocks. Few cars were driving down the Coastal Highway at 11 pm tonight, which was a bit surprising to Hayley. She managed to get on the other side of the street in a matter of seconds.
In front of her was a decent sized house. It looked small compared to the number of people there tonight. The open windows were the only lights shining on the yard. You could hear the music blaring, and the closer you walked you could feel the bass thumping. Hayley walked inside the house, and shoved her way through people to the kitchen. Liz was there, taking shots with a few guys.
“Hi Liz.” Hayley shouted over the music.
“Hayley! Girl, when did you get here?!” Liz sounded drunk.
    “Few seconds ago actually.”
Liz could barely walk, but managed to get over to Hayley and lean on her for balance. “Everyone! This is Hayley! She’s my best friend here in Ocean City! She’s 16 years old, and single! Have fun!” She slurred, but was able to say it loudly.
Three boys leaning against the wall noticed Hayley soon after Liz’s introduction. One had caught Hayley’s eye. His dark hair was messy, his eyes were seducing, and his lips, ugh, she wanted to make out with him then and there. He was taller too, and thin. Hayley was immediately turned on. His other two friends weren’t much to Hayley besides people in the background.
“I’m Craig.” The attractive one spoke.
“This is John and Eric.” He introduced his friends.
    “I’m Hayley.” She smiled.
“Wanna take a few shots with us?” Craig asked.
    “I’d love to.”

    ATTENTION:
I'm going to put New Lives, Old Memories on hold. Although some of you readers may not be happy, please understand where I'm coming from.
    1) I honestly have no idea where this story is going. I make up the chapters as I go along. I do the same for Addicted to the Bad Ones, as well. And right now, I just can't think of anything to add on to it yet. I thought I was going somewhere with the story, but to me it's obvious I'm not. Putting the story on hold will give me time to really think about what comes next.
    2) I think I have a great story I can write during the meantime. I've thought over the idea of it and I won't be hesitant with creating the next chapter or part because I have it all planned out.
    3) I will try to keep writing Addicted to the Bad Ones. It won't be easy, but I'll do my best to make the story as good as it can be. Besides, it would be unfair to stop both stories.
    4) I was thinking of stopping New Lives, Old Memories all together. But you guys have given me so much support about it that I'm not just going to throw it away.
Please just take the time to look this over and give me feedback. It would be greatly appreciated. I love all of you who read and supported this story. And please remember, this is only a temporary break. I'll be writing it once again, as soon as I really understand what I want to write about. Thank you all so much and I really hope you understand.
