Forever And A Day♥
Chapter Forty-Five~Kelsey
I was walking with Quinn, who seemed like she was really nice. We talked about so much, she was in all of my classes except for two - one of them bio, when I was with Nate, and the other English, when I was with Bridget. I was pretty excited to finally have friends at the new school, and I wasn't so sad about leaving EMHS anymore. I did miss my friends but everything seemed to be ten times better here. I sat down in my seat in bio, not surprised that Nate was late because I was usually here before him anyway. I started to get suspicious after the bell rang. "Has anyone seen Nate?" Mr. Andrews asked, looking around the room. "Skipping on his first day back? Not that it surprises me, really..." Mr. Andrews muttered. I looked over at Joey, because usually if Nate's gonna skip, Joey either knows where he is or he's with him. When I looked over, Joey was staring at his hands which were in his lap. And he was sitting still. That's when I knew something was wrong. While Mr. Andrews checked homework, I leaned across the desk and hissed, "Joey." I don't know if he heard me or if he ignored me, but he didn't reply or even look up. "Joey," I tried again. "Joseph!" He looked up, startled. "What?" he asked. "Where is he?" I asked in a whisper. "Where is who?" Joey asked. "Nate, obviously," I answered, annoyed. "Oh. Yeah. Nate. Right," he said. "Joey. Where is Nate? Is he okay?" I whispered. "I don't know. He went to the hospital because -" He got cut off by Mr. Andrews. "Mr. Thompson, is there something I can help you with?" he asked. "No, I was just telling Kelsey that-" he started. "That will be enough, unless you want a detention," Mr. Andrews said. "But you asked what-" Mr. Andrews said loudly, "I'll see you in detention tomorrow Mr. Thompson." Joey stared at him. "I didn't do anything wrong! You asked, and I was trying to tell you! And I already have a detention tomorrow, anyway," he said. Mr. Andrews shook his head. "Moving on, then..." Joey looked at me and shrugged. I sighed. I was really worried, and now there was no way I could know what happened to Nate. I just hoped he was okay. After bio, I ran to catch up with Joey in the hallway. "Joey, what's going on?" I asked. "I don't really know, I just heard they got into a fight and Nate left school, so I texted him and he said he was at the hospital but he didn't tell me what happened," he explained. "Wait, wait, who was in a fight?" I asked. "Nate and Kyle," he answered. "Who's Kyle?" Joey sighed as he closed his locker. "Look, Kelsey, my next class is at the other side of the school. I gotta go, just call Nate or something." I stared at him. "But what if he's-" I started. "I'm sure he's fine. Nate seems to always be fine," he said and walked down the hallway. I stared after him with an open mouth. Quinn came up from behind me. "Did you hear about the fight?" she said nervously. "Kinda," I choked out. "Oh my goodness, what's wrong?" she said after looking at my expression. "Nate's in the hospital. Again. I don't know how serious it is this time," I answered. I felt like crying. Who was this Kyle kid, and why would he hurt Nate? Didn't he know about the car accident? I looked around and then pulled Quinn into the bathroom with me. "What are we doing?" she asked. "I'm gonna call Nate," I said. She nodded and sat on the sink. I pressed send and waited while it rang for what seemed like hours.
