Forever And A Day♥
Chapter Thirty-Five, Part
Two~Nate
I
put my head in my hands to cover up a laugh. "No," I
said from behind my hands. "You can't lie. I need this
on your records," the doctor said. "Nate," my
mother warned. "You know what? I have to go to the
bathroom." I got out of the bed and walked to the bathroom.
I waited until I heard the doctor leave, and then I went back
into my room. I got back onto the bed. My mother was glaring at
me from her seat. "Nate, I-" she started. "I'm
tired. Can we talk about this later?" I said. I would have
said anything to get out of whatever my mom was going to talk to
me about. She sighed but didn't say anything else. I guess I
fell asleep, because I woke up the next morning when my mom was
shaking my shoulder. "Ow, stop," I muttered, not even
bothering to open my eyes. "Nate, it's time to go
home," she said. She shook me a little bit more. "Ow.
You're hurting me," I mumbled. "Then get up."
I moaned. "Nate," she said. She shook me more, harder
this time. "Oh my God, stop. It hurts," I said, opening
my eyes to the bright room. "Good, you're awake.
Let's go, I haven't been home in too long," she said
brightly, packing all my things. I rubbed my eyes and sat up.
"It's so early," I moaned. "You can sleep when
we get home," she answered. "Come on. I've got you
all signed out and everything." I changed into jeans and a
sweatshirt and then followed my mom out the door. We waved
goodbye to everyone in the hall as we passed, my mother shouting
out thank-yous and even giving out a few hugs. I stood there
awkwardly, partly because I was still half asleep and partly
because it kind of hurt to stand up. We got all the way to the
lobby before I remembered the paparazzi would be out there
waiting. I sighed. "Sorry, sweetie. Almost to the car,"
my mother whispered in my ear as she opened the huge front doors.
The flashing cameras blinded me and I squinted against the light.
My mother put her arm around me and waved to the cameras,
smiling. "Smile," she whispered through her teeth into
my ear. "No," I answered rudely. The driver opened the
door and I slid in, followed by Mom. I sighed and put my head
back on the seat. My phone vibrated in my back pocket; it was a
text from Kelsey. Kelsey: I just saw you on TV(: Nate:
Great. I bet I looked hot(; Kelsey: You did(; When are
you getting home? Nate: A few minutes. You coming
over? Kelsey: Of course(: See you then. "Oh, Nate,
I forgot to tell you. You're moving back into the
palace."
