Summer Lovin’
-Chapter 43-
To get ready for my date I took a quick shower, blow-dried my hair and let it fall naturally. I put on the outfit Aubrey helped me pick out, (http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=28273349) I put on some sparkly makeup, slipped my shoes on and ran downstairs as soon as I heard the doorbell ring. I opened the door and Max was holding a picnic basket and flowers. “For you.” He said handing me the flowers. They were pink tulips, my favorite! “I’m going to go put these in water come on in!” I squealed and skipped off to find a vase. Max and Bryan did the bro hug and soon we were walking hand in hand to the park for our three-month anniversary. “I made all the food myself.” Max said as I spread out a blanket and he unpacked the basket. It was a warm summer day and we had the park to ourselves. “This is amazing. I couldn’t have pictured a more perfect date.” I said cuddling closer to Max. “I’m glad you like it, so far.” He said finishing up his sandwich. When we were done with lunch we packed up the basket and dropped it off to my house. We walked into town and went to a skating rink. We both put on roller skates and went out on the rink with other couples. I squeezed Max’s hand as we skated around and two little kids came near us. They looked about eight, one was a boy and one was a girl. “Do you remember when we were like that?” I asked. He nodded, “Those were the good old days.” He said acting as if we were fifty years old. When the little kids skated away, an older couple skated near us. They were holding hands and singing to the song that was playing above us. “What do you think we’ll be like when we’re like them?” I asked Max. “We’ll be just like them. In love, and doing crazy things.” He said smiling down at me. The couple came over and introduced themselves, their names were Marissa and Tom and they were high school sweethearts. “How long have you two been dating?” Marissa asked me, “Three-months I said smiling.” She exchanged a look with Tom and then smiled at me, “When we first started dating we were just like you two.” Those words instantly sent butterflies to my stomach. “And when we’re your age we’ll be telling another young couple.” Max said back smiling. We went our separate ways and skated to a slow song, “Did you really mean that back there?” I asked him in the middle of the song. “Every word.” He said pulling me in closer. “Forever.” He said to me, “Forever.” I said back.
*50 Years Later
Ring! Ring! Ring!
“Hello?”
“Hey mom can you watch Johnny today I have to work late.”
“What time honey you’re father is taking me out.”
“Around five?”
“Sure thing.”
“Thanks mom, love you!”
“Love you too darling.”
I hung up the phone and put my coat on and turned off the lights. “Ready to go sweetheart?” Max asked me. I grabbed our roller skates and opened the door, “Let’s go.” I said smiling and we walked out hand in hand on our way to the roller rink, just like we said we would when we we’re fifteen, that summer.

-Chapter 42-
At seven Max came over and we watched a few movies. My parents, Jaime, and Bryan were with friends so we had the house to ourselves. After finishing I Am Legend we made more popcorn and snuggled on the couch. “Guess what tomorrow is.” Max said quietly to me. “Our three-month.” I said smiling at him. “That’s right baby.” He said and kissed me lightly on the lips. Tonight, I was really tired and didn’t want to go far, and I guess Max knew that because he wrapped me up and I fell asleep on him. “Mom they’re asleep on the couch.” I heard Bryan say and turned off the lights. “Ok I’ll call his mom and invite him to stay the night.” I heard my mom reply to Bryan. I snuggled closer to Max and fell back asleep.

When I woke up Max was gone and I was wrapped up in a blanket. I opened up my phone and he had texted from him.
Max: Hey baby didn’t want to wake you, had to go home to get ready for today (: see you later
I went upstairs and made myself waffles and grabbed some chocolate milk out of the fridge. Bryan came down in sweats and rubbed the sleep out of his eyes. “Morning brother!” I said cheerfully and ran the syrup down my perfectly made waffles. “Morning.” He said tired and grabbed a muffin and sat down next to me. “How was your night?” Bryan asked me thinking we went all the way. “It was great we watched movies and went to bed.” I said eating my waffles. “And yours?” He stared down at his muffin and mumbled, “I miss Taylor.” “I know, but she’ll be back soon.” I said patting him on the shoulder. “How do you know Max is two minutes way.” He grumbled and went to get some juice. “Am I sensing jealousy?” I asked washing my dishes, “No, I’m sorry I just miss her.” He confessed, “School starts soon, for now just text her.” I told him and went upstairs to change. Today was going to be great!

-Chapter 41-
A few hours later we were back home. Kayla and Max both got picked up and we began taking things back into the house. School was in two days and I was excited to see the rest of my friends for the first time in months. I plugged my ipod in my i-home and was in the mood for Mamma Mia music. As I unpacked I sang along to one of my favorite songs, our last summer.
I can still recall our lat summer I still see it all walks along the seine laughing in the rain, our last summer memories that remain.
Wow. That describes my relationship with Max perfectly. Max! Tomorrow was our three-month anniversary! We agreed not to get each other gifts and he was taking me out on a mystery date. When I finished unpacking, I called one of my friends Aubrey and went to the mall to get a new outfit for tomorrow. “I want all the details!” She said as we drove to the mall. Aubrey was one of the oldest kids in the grade, so she had her permit early. So, for the entire drive I told her everything that had happened within the past three months. “Your summer should be a movie. Damn Alyssa you got a nice boyfriend!” Aubrey squealed as we walked into the mall to find the perfect outfit. I needed something not too dressy, but not too casual either. I chose a denim skirt and a new shirt. We also got first day of school outfits and a couple new pairs of shoes. Aubrey dropped me off and I logged onto facebook for the first time in awhile. Aww, Max sent me a relationship request, how cute. I accepted and comments were flooding all over. They were mostly “Get it in!” from the guys and “Aww!” from the girls. I was so excited to see the rest of my friends in school, but right now the best boyfriend in the world was coming over for a movie night.

-Chapter 39-
(Two months later)
Today was our last day down the shore. Everything happened so quick, it didn’t seem real. One minute I was going boy hunting with Kayla, and the next I’m packing my bags for home. Like We Used To by A Rocket To The Moon came on and Kayla turned it up louder as we sang along.
Does he watch your favorite movies does he hold you when you cry
Does he let you tell him all your favorite parts when you've seen it a million times does he sing to all your music while you dance to "Purple Rain"?
does he do all these things like I used to?
Someone knocked on the door and it was Tyler, Kayla wasn’t herself today and I knew why. Her and Tyler really liked each other and today we were leaving. I left the room and let them be alone for what could be the last time.
*Kayla’s POV
“Hey.” I said softly as I continued to pack my things. Tyler took my hands and kissed me. “Just because you’re leaving doesn’t mean we’re over.” He said to me slowly. “But Tyler…the distance.” I started until he interrupted me. “You’re from Morristown right?” He asked and I nodded. “I don’t live far from there, don’t give up on us.” He said pressing his forehead against mine. “I won’t.” I sighed and kissed him. “Kayla?” He asked me, “mhm?” “I want to go all the way with you.” He confessed, “I know that didn’t sound magical, but I’m nervous over here. I really like you Kayla and this is the last time I’ll see you for a little.” He said looking me straight in the eyes, I nodded my head in agreement and tossed Alyssa’s things out the door and locked the door.
*Bryan’s POV
It was my last day with Taylor and I was determined to make it the best. I knocked on her door with roses in my hand and I have to admit, I was nervous. She was unlike any other girl that I dated. She was real, down to earth, however you want to phrase it. She cared about me, she shared everything with me, she was the one. Maybe I’m crazy but I don’t care, she was special to me. She opened the door and squeezed me tight as I gave her the flowers. “Hey beautiful.” I said and kissed her on the cheek, she smiled and let me in. We were sitting down on the couch and I asked her, “So where are you from? I probably should’ve asked you this when we first going out.” I said laughing, she laughed along with me, “Petersville.” She said blushing. “No way.” I said looking deep into her eyes, “What?” She asked confused, “That’s the town next to mine.” Her face lit up after I said that and we started kissing. “Taylor?” “Yeah?” “I love you.” “I love you too Bry.” And for the rest of the day we spent the day wrapped up in each other’s arms enjoying the moments we had until I left for home.

There he sat, on the bed, looking down at his feet. When he heard me come up he shot me a look and gave me that evil smile. “Long time no see Alyssa.” Charlie said to me. “Chhhaa-?” I started to say but he cut me off. “Yeah, it’s me. And we’re going to have some fun tonight. The fun I never got from you.” He said and moved towards me. “What are you doing here?” I asked scared as he came closer, “Those guys are friends of mine. And I asked them to take down Max and get me along with you in some sexy clothes.” He said taking another step in. “What about Dylan! Your friend!” I exclaimed. “I didn’t know they had Dylan, he’s probably dead by now, but he was barely my friend.” He replied putting his hands on my hips. I refused to look at him in the eyes, this had to be a nightmare. I was going to wake up in Max’s arms in my shore house and everything’s going to be fine. “Look at me!” He yelled, well this was certainly no dream. I looked at him and he loosened up his grip on my wrist a little. “That’s better.” He said and dragged me over to the bed. ‘Please, someone help me.’ I begged as he laid me down and turned off the lights.

“It’s ok Maxy, it’s my turn to save you.” I whispered to him as I kneeled beside him. His mouth was so swollen that you could barely hear him, but I head him say I love you; I told him I loved him too and the guys took him away. “Now we’re going to have some fun.” The man said and the guys threw me into a different room with a bed and a chair. “Wear these.” One man said to me handing me skimpy clothes. “Please help me.” I said starting to cry a little. He looked sincere and innocent; he had brown eyes and short brown hair and was broad and a little over six feet tall. “I would, but my family’s life is on the line.” He whispered to me and patted me on the shoulder. “Please, maybe we can help each other.” I pleaded as he walked towards the door, “I’ll see what I can do, but for now get changed.” He said and left closing the door. I put the clothes and sat down on the bed mortified. I closed my eyes and the door opened and the main man came in, “Good you’re ready, come out.” He demanded. I got up slowly and walked out the door. “You’ll be useful to someone I know.” He growled and pushed me into another room. I couldn’t believe who was sitting on the bed, I swear my heart skipped a beat.

I looked up at the man and observed him; He was about six feet tall, dark hair, bad teeth, and smelled terrible. “What.” I said harshly, they beat the love of my life up badly and they weren’t going to get away with it. “You have two choices. One, we let your boy go and you stay here with us. Two, you refuse to stay and we kill you both.” He snarled at me, my heart dropped and I looked down at Max; he needed to get out of here. I looked into his eyes and he knew what I was thinking, “No.” He chocked out as a tears started forming in his eyes. “I have to.” I whispered and kissed him softly. “No kissing, make up your mind!” The man yelled to me. I slowly broke apart from Max and stood up, “I’ll stay.” I said as they started to laugh. “But you can’t hurt him anymore.” I said looking down at poor Max who looked horrible. “You don’t make the rules sweetheart.” He said to me and started laughing.
*Dylan’s POV
As soon as she left me I had trouble. My leg was probably broken and one eye was swollen shut. I limped down an empty road and fought back the tears. In the distance, I saw a light. I started to limp quicker as the light grew closer. ‘Come on Dylan you’re friends need you!’ I said to myself and started to run. With every step I took pain shot up my left leg, but I didn’t care. Alyssa and Max could die, but I wasn’t going to let them. I approached the house and knocked on the door ferociously. A middle-aged woman came out and gasped when she saw me. “Ma’am, call the police.” I said as I fell to the ground, she quickly picked me up and dragged me inside and sat me down on a chair. “What happened?” She asked frantically as she dialed the phone. “Down the road, there’s a building, my friends are being held hostage, and they might be killed.” Those were the last words I chocked out before everything went black and the woman was repeating my words into the phone.

After awhile I started to get worried about Max, he still wasn’t back from the bathroom. “Logan, come with me.” I said grabbing him and leading him to the back of the restaurant. “What?” He asked as I pulled him along, “Go in there and get Max and Dylan.” I said pointing to the bathroom, he shrugged and went in. When he came out, he was holding an envelope with my name on it. “No one was in there.” He said quietly and handed me the envelope. I slowly opened it and read it:
Alyssa,
We told your boyfriend that we’d get him, and we have him. If you ever want to see him again you will come to 142 Akers Ave at 11pm tonight ALONE. If you bring someone, we kill your boyfriend and his friend.
I folded the letter up and put it in my pocket, “What did it say?” Logan asked me, “We need to go home, now.” I said and made our way back to the table. I told everyone that something bad was happening and that we had to go back to the house, they did as I said and I sat them down in the living room when we were back at the house. I explained everything to them and we made a plan. “We’re helping.” Bryan said firmly when I was done telling them what was going on. I shook my head, “No, it’ll risk all of our lives.” I said locking my eyes on the ground. “Alyssa you’ll both get killed!” Kayla exclaimed tears flowing down her face. “No, I’m going to save Max just like he saved me. If I’m not back in an hour call the police.” I said and walked down to my room and locked it. I sat there for hours playing back memories of Max and I, when it was 10:45 I put my sneakers on, grabbed Max’s sweatshirt, my phone and a bag with food, water, a first aid kit and a flash light and went back upstairs. I hugged all my friends and my brother and walked down the empty street alone. Don’t worry Maxy; I’m coming.

‘Tonight’s going to be fine Alyssa stop worrying!’ I told myself as I got changed. “Are you ok?” Kayla asked me while I was deep in thought. “Yeah.” I said casually. “Alyssa.” She said and I turned around to face her, “What’s up Kay?” I asked sounding as cheerful as I could be, but she didn’t buy it. “I know something is wrong, and I’m your best friend. What’s going on is it Max?” She asked concerned, I sat down and sighed; I had to tell her. “Max beat up a guy when we went golfing because he was jealous and the guy wants revenge and he came after us and I want to go out for Bryan but I’m just worried.” I spilled out to her holding back tears. “Are they like a gang?” She asked coming over to sit next to me, “I think so.” I said as chills went down my spine. “We’ll stay away from them, and I’ll tell Tyler to bring Dylan and Logan for back up, they’re not going to hurt you guys.” She said rubbing my back. I hugged her tight, “Thanks Kay.” “Hey, anything for my best friend.” She said smiling and we finished getting ready.
*Max’s POV
‘Keep yourself together Max you’re the man and you have to protect Alyssa.’ I said to myself as I sprayed axe all over me, Alyssa loved the smell of it. “Dude you look like you’ve got something on your mind.” Bryan said, I didn’t even notice he was sitting there, was I that oblivious? “It’s cool.” I said finishing getting ready. “Tell me. Is it my sister?” He asked pulling a shirt on over his head. “It’s nothing, we’re good bro.” I told him as best I could. “I’m not an idiot, I’ve known you since we were seven, now tell me what’s wrong.” He said, I sighed and spilled everything. After, Bryan stared at me, “Damn.” Was all he could get out. “I’m not letting anything happen to your sister because of my stupid mistake.” I assured him. “It’s alright bro I got your back, and I’ll call the guys to come with.” He said. “Dude, I’m scared.” I admitted, “It’s ok, I would be too.” He said and we walked out to go out.
*Alyssa’s POV
I walked out the door holding Max’s hand and I didn’t want to let go. We went up to the board walk and ate dinner together. The guys all went up to pay and us girls decided to have an over due girl talk. “Alright what’s the deal with your guys?” Taylor asked Kayla and I, we blushed and spilled everything. “Well, Bryan and I went to third, and tonight well…” Taylor said blushing, “Oh Taylor!” Kayla and I said in unison and we all started cracking up. “Tyler and I went to third, left field, right field, basically everything except for the real deal.” She said squealing. Taylor and Kayla looked at me for them too tell them about Max and i. “Homerun.” I said quietly and they started laughing like crazy. “No way!” Kayla said, I nodded. “Damn girl.” Taylor said and winked at me. “Shhh! The guys are coming back!” I said and we tried to keep our laughs quiet but there we were too loud. “What’s so funny?” Bryan asked when he got back to the table. “Oh nothing.” Taylor said smiling at me. “Where’s Max?” I asked noticing that he wasn’t here. “He went to the bathroom with Dylan.” Tyler said putting his arm around Kayla. I nodded and returned to the conversation at the table.
*Max’s POV
“Dude I gotta pee, come with?” I asked Dylan, he nodded and we went to the back of the restaurant and into the bathroom. “Shut up and no one gets hurt.” I said a deep voice say as they covered my head with a bag.

-Chapter 30-
We ran for a while and when we couldn’t run anymore, we went inside an ice cream shop and sat down. “Max, what are we going to do?” I asked him out of breath. “I’m not sure, but he’s not laying a finger on you.” He assured me grabbing my hand; I smiled and kissed him softly. We ordered our ice cream and ate it in five minutes, after we called my mom and she came to pick us up. “Should we tell her?” I asked before my mom pulled in. “No, she’s got enough going on with Bryan.” He said and we walked in the car. “Hey mom.” I said and slid into the front seat. “Hey guys, why are you down here?” She asked; it was pretty far from our house. “Well we’ve been walking all day and we wanted the best ice cream on the island.” Max said assuring to my mom. We drove home listening to the radio and when we got home we laid on the couch exhausted. Soon, we were wrapped up in each other and fell asleep; I heard my dad come in and put a blanket over us and say “I swear, they’re going to be together forever.” I smiled and grabbed Max’s hand, although he was asleep and didn’t hear it.
*Max’s POV
They may not know it, but I heard what Mr. Walker said and I couldn’t help but smile. Alyssa grabbed my hand and we both fell asleep, perfectly happy.
(1 hour later)
“Hey guys wake up.” I head Taylor say to us, I put my arm around Alyssa and opened me eyes, “Hey Taylor what’s up?” I asked yawning. “We’re going out because Bryan’s better, wanna come?” I looked at Alyssa not knowing what to say. “We’ll be ok.” She whispered and told Taylor that we’d love to go. We got up and showered, changed, and we’re on our way out to what was supposed to be a fun night. Like I said, it was supposed to be.

-Chapter 28-
*Max’s POV
That was one of the scariest moments of my life. When she yelled my name, I knew that I could save her. The image of the water slowly dragging her back with it kept playing in my mind as she slept in my arms. I slowly faded into a deep sleep and woke up the next morning. I turned over to see Alyssa cuddled up against my chest; she looked so cute when she was asleep. I kissed her on the head and inhaled her strawberry scent that drove me crazy. She slowly opened her eyes and smiled, “Hi.” She said, “Hi.” I said laughing. “Guess what?” she asked, “What?” “I love you.” She said propping her self up on me, I looked at her for a minute, noticing how beautiful she was. Her hair was wavy and had gotten lighter with the sun. Her eyes were the brownest eyes I’d ever seen and they were beautiful. Her lips were just the right shade of pink, and she had a few freckles along her face. “You’re beautiful Alyssa, and I love you too.” I told her smiling. We went upstairs and ate our cereal and went to enjoy the last month of our summer together, I liked the sound of that, our summer.
*Alyssa’s POV
After breakfast, Max and I decided to go shopping. I put on my favorite shorts, a black tank top and my black and white sneakers. (http://www.polyvore.com/blackandwhiteeee/set?id=27898365) We walked up the street and into the smoothie café and ordered some drinks. When we sat down, I noticed a pack of boys staring at Max and I; Max’s face was tense. “Everything ok?” I asked him nervously, he shook his head no. “We gotta go.” He said and walked me out the door.

-Chapter 27-
It was the biggest wave I had ever seen in my entire life. Max grabbed my hand and we sprinted up the hill to the fireman. Just as we were about to reach him, it crashed and I fell. The cold water hit my legs and began sucking me back with it. Water began going down my mouth and I somehow managed to get it out. “MAX!” I screeched, as the wave was pulling me back further and further every second. Him and the fireman grabbed my hands and pulled me away from the water, Max picked me up and carried me over the hill and placed me down on the fire truck. I coughed up water and shivered. The fireman wrapped a blanket around us, “What were you kids doing?” He asked. “Dancing.” I replied back. “You need to be careful this storm is wicked.” He told us and walked to the front of the truck to inform the other firemen that we were safe. “You saved me.” I said looking up at Max. His brown hair was dripping and he had goose bumps all over. “I couldn’t let you go.” He said wrapping his arms around me. We walked back to the house and told my parents what had happened and we weren’t allowed to leave the house for the rest of the night. I put a pair of sweat pants and a t-shirt and laid down in Max’s bed with him, he pulled me in under the covers and wrapped his arms around me. I moved my way on top of him and kissed him and he kissed me back, I got up and locked the door. I laid back down took my t-shirt off and Max kissed my neck, he was so warm. I lifted his shirt over his head and began kissing him again, he had his hands on my sweat pants and began tugging them down, he looked down at me and I nodded as he took them off.

I laid wrapped up in Max’s strong arms looking up at the ceiling. “Maxy, you’re my hero.” I said turning towards him, locking my eyes on his. “And I’ll always be that baby.” He said kissing me softly, I yawned and kissed him goodnight and fell asleep, just like that.

-Chapter 26-
I slowly walked over to Bryan’s bed and knelt beside Taylor. “What happened?” I asked her, her face was red and puffy from crying. “We were walking in town, and then this car came out of no where and he pushed me out of the way and it hit him.” She said crying, I pulled her in and hugged her. The doctor came in and we stood up, Taylor wiped her tears away and asked the doctor if he was going to be ok. “It’s hard to tell, he was hit pretty hard. All we can do is wait.” He said and then walked out the door, my parents came in with Jaime and my mom started to cry. My dad held her tight and we all took a seat, waiting. After a few hours, the kids got something to eat while my parents stayed with Bryan. When it got late, we all went home, except for Taylor, she decided to stay with my parents. I hugged my mom and dad and kissed Bryan’s cheek and walked out of the hospital. ‘Oh God, please let my brother be ok.’
*Taylor’s POV
A few days had gone by and I was still at the hospital with Bryan’s parents. I couldn’t leave him; I may never get to see him again. This past month has been amazing with him; he was the best thing that’s happened to me in a long time. When his parents left the room for a minute, I knelt down beside him and talked to him. “Hey Bry, I know you may not hear this but I just want to say it anyway. I love you. Ever since I met you, I stopped cutting. I know I never told you, but my dad used to abuse me. So, I came down here to escape from all that, and met you. From day one you’ve treated me like a princess and I’m so thankful to have you. Bryan I love you please wake up, please. Please don’t go, don’t leave your family, friends, and everyone who loves you. You can make anyone smile even when they’re having a terrible day, I would know. Please wake up Bryan.” I told him as he lay there with his eyes closed. Beep, beep, beep. The beeps mocked me and started to tear up. Right as I was about to run out crying I heard a faint moan, I turned around and couldn’t believe what I saw. Bryan’s eyes were open; I ran over to him and hugged him as the tears poured out of my eyes. “Taylor.” He whispered and wrapped his arms around me, I broke apart and looked at him, “You’re ok.” I said starting to cry again. “Because of you.” He said and smiled a little bit. I kissed his cheek and ran to go get his parents, when I found them in the food court I yelled, “He’s awake!” They dropped their food and we ran back to Bryan who was now sitting up. “My baby!” Mrs. Walker screeched and ran over to Bryan, “I’m ok mom.” He said a little embarrassed, I decided to leave them alone and call Alyssa.
*Alyssa’s POV
“Max get up!” I yelled as I hung up the phone. “What is it!” He yelled running into my room, I was putting clothes on as I replied, “Bryan’s awake!” He smiled and ran back to his room to change, I grabbed the keys and drove to the hospital to see my little brother. We ran to his room and he was talking to my parents and Taylor. I gave him the biggest hug that I had ever given him, “Bryan!” I yelled as I let go of him, “Hey sis.” he said smiling. The doctor came in and said that Bryan was free to go and we all piled in the car like a happy little family. My mom, Jaime, Taylor, and I decided to make dinner to celebrate Bryan coming home. We made his favorite; meatloaf, potatoes, corn, and triple chocolate cake. We all stuffed our faces and the boys cleaned the dishes. To end a perfect day, Max took me for a romantic walk on the beach. I don’t think this day could have gotten any better. We walked hand in hand talking about everything that there was to talk about. Big dark clouds formed in the sky and it started to rain down on us. Instead of being a typical girl and yelling about how my hair was going to get wet, I danced around in the sand. Max was laughing, “What’s so funny!” I yelled over the sound of the pouring rain. “You’re adorable!” He yelled back, I smiled and took his hand and started dancing again. “I can’t dance!” He yelled at me, “I’ll teach you!” I took his hand and spun him around; we ran all over the beach attempting to dance but wound up wrapped up in each other’s arms. “I love you Max.” I told him as raindrops ran down my cheeks. “I love you more.” He said wiping the rain off of my face and tracing his hands through my hair. He leaned in and we had the greatest kiss. I wrapped my arms around his neck as he pulled me in eliminating the space in between us. As we were making out we heard someone yelling, we turned around to see a fire fighter yelling at us, but we couldn’t hear him. “Watch out!” He yelled so we could hear him, we turned around to see a huge wave coming our way.
