Chapter 1
"Haylie, you're going to be late for school!" called my mother. I quickly placed my burgundy framed glasses on my face and gathered my notebooks for my classes today. I looked in the mirror and checked my reflection. I decided to wear my cute floral dress with a cropped light jean jacket over it and matching flats. I threw my light brown hair into a messy bun, not caring about what other people thought of my appearance.
My name's Haylie Tomlinson, and I'm eighteen years old. Yes, I'm still in high school, but I'm more than halfway through with my senior year. I'm not what you would consider 'popular' but I didn't care. A lot of people just want to take advantage of me because of the fact that Louis Tomlinson of the famous British-Irish boyband is my brother. Honestly, I don't get why girls are crazy obsessed over them. Sure, they're nice and really fun to hang around with, but they'rejust normal people. And it got annoying when you couldn't tell who wanted to be your real friend and who wanted to use you.
I'm pretty close with the boys. Louis is not only my brother, but he's also my best friend. He's always supportive of me, no matter what I do and he always has my back. Harry, Liam, Zayn, and Niall are great too. They're like brothers to me, and we all get along well. I walked downstairs and ate a quick breakfast before I started walking to school. I got a text message and read the screen of my blackberry. It was from my best friend, Tara. I replied to her and continued walking. When I got to school, I saw one of my guy friends, Ryan.
"Eyy cutie." he said, throwing his arm around my shoulder. Ryan was a major flirt, but I always pretended not to notice. I backed away from his touch, and he pretended to look offended.
"So we still on for today?" he asked, and I nodded my head yes. We were going to 'study' after school, but that was code for just hanging out and talking. Don't get me wrong, Ryan's great, but I would never actually date him. I don't think. He's a great friend, and I wouldn't want to ruin that friendship. I walked to my first period class, AP Chemistry. During the class, my phone lit up. I wondered who could be texting me during school hours, but checked the phone anyway. Niall? What did he want?
Niall: Lou's birthday is coming up. Plan a suprise party with me? xx
I quickly typed back to him, telling him to come over after school today so we can plan.
School went by fast, because I enjoyed learning. It was really the only thing I was good at. Ryan couldn't come over because he didn't want to study anymore, so I was free to hang out with Niall. When I got home, he was already there, sitting in the living room eating. Shocker.
"Louis isn't home?" I asked before I said anything about the party.
"Nope, he's out with Eleanor." he replied, standing up. I don't really know why, but Niall was never really as nice to me as the others. He talked to me and stuff, but never actually hung out with me. Maybe he was just shy. Tara and Ryan always tried to tell me that Niall liked me, but I always ignored those comments. While we were planning the party, he kept sneaking glances at me. Were Tara and Ryan right?
Did Niall Horan actually like me?
