This is my story, A Rainy Day.
Originally wrote it one day when I was bored, so I never finished it. Anyway, this is
Part one.
PART 1
The sky was an ashy grey, the hills seemed to disappear under a blanket of black, taunting clouds, and the sun had escaped the day’s grip. ‘Scrip, screep,’ her feet went as she walked home, glumly, over the hard, hole-filled, gravel road. It was almost night-time and she had a long way to go to get home to her mother and brother. The sky seemed to get a little darker as more clouds filled the soon-to-be night sky. ‘Oh-no,’ she thought to herself, “I’m not going to get to the house in time!” Just as she said that, she felt a drop of water on her cheek, “Just my luck!” she yelled, thinking how her day had been probably the worst in her two years of being in high-school. She started to run, looking everywhere for shelter, home was too far away and it seemed as though there was going to be a mighty storm ahead.
By now it was pouring and she could hardly see two feet ahead of her. She was almost about to give up, when she heard a lady’s voice cry, “Come on, girl, come inside, it’s pouring out!” She felt like replying, “You think?!” but decided the woman was obviously offering a refuge from the storm, so she decided just to be quiet.
She ran up to the house and stepped up onto the porch. “Thankyou,” she said graciously.
“Don’t worry about it, young miss,” the woman said, “now come inside and we’ll get you fixed up and call your mum...now what is your name, miss?”
“Juliana” she replied quickly.
“That’s a beautiful name, Juliana,” said the woman kindly, before turning to lead her inside, “I will fetch you some dry clothes and something warm to eat, if you want to freshen up, there is a bathroom down the hallway, second door on the right.”
“That’s okay, i’ll just wait here.”
The house wasn’t very fancy, in fact, it seemed quite old. It had black and white carpet in the foyer (even though the white seemed more of a dirty creme colour, despite how it looked like it had been cleaned), black and red striped wallpaper, which was ripped and torn up, and a small, golden coat or hat rack to the right of the door. The foyer in fact would have looked extremely beautiful when it had first been made, but now, most of it was dusty and wrecked.
