Catch Me if You Can
Chapter 13
"Colby, your friends are here!" my father called from the other side of my bedroom door.
It has been a week since I stepped foot outside of my house, and my father was getting worried.
Harry never texted me back after my last message, either.
"What friends?" I grumbled, closing my book, and settling it on my nightstand.
"Addison and Gerald, I think?" my father said.
"Tell them I'm sick." I muttered, snuggling close in my comforter.
I heard my father's footsteps fading away, as there were voices audible coming from the front of the house.
A minute later, my bedroom door opened.
"Dad, knock next time, please." I mumbled, closing my eyes to get some sleep.
"It's not your dad, silly." a soft voice spoke.
I dared myself to peek out of my covers.
Addison and Gerald were standing at the foot of my bed, both biting their lips in nervousness.
"What are you two doing here?" I asked, harsher than I had intended to.
I must've looked like a train wreck.
I hadn't brushed my hair in ages, and my pajamas were baggy and loose.
Gerald gulped. "We're here to apologize and take you out."
"Yeah, we're really sorry, Colby. We just didn't want to hurt you." Addison whispered. "Besides, your dad told us that you haven't been out of your bed for the entire week. You should come to the beach with us." she smiled gently.
Addison and Gerald looked genuinly sorry.
After all, they did mention that they were only trying to protect me.
I gave them both a small smile, that soon spread into a grin.
"Will you guys buy me a milkshake?" I asked.
Addison's eyes lit up, as Gerald's lip curved in to cheeky grin. "Deal!" they both smiled.
I threw off my covers, as I told them to wait in the living room as I changed.
I took a refreshing shower, running a comb through my thick hair.
I wore my favorite denim shorts, and beige off shoulder top.
I paced down the stairs, just to find my father telling Addison and Gerald a bad joke.
Their eyes all snapped to me as they heard me coming.
"Finally, Colby. It's good to see you out of your pajamas for once." my father teased.
I rolled my eyes playfully, as I pecked my father's cheek.
"I'm going to the beach with Addi and Gerald now. I'll come home before midnight." I promised.
We got into Addison's Mazda, and began heading off to the beach.
"Did you call Alex to come yet?" Gerald asked Addison.
Addison nodded, keeping her hazel eyes on the road.
"And Jason?" Gerald continued.
Addison nodded.
"And Raina?"
Addison nodded.
"And Kyle?"
Addison nodded.
"And Harry and Dani?" Gerald quickly said.
Addison glanced at me nervously, before looking at Gerald through the rear view mirror.
She nodded.
