Friends Forever Short Story #1 Part 2
Julie’s Point of View
“I think I’m in the back of the car. Good. I have air. Ummm… I have… leather seats under me,” I squirmed my legs and wrists, “Yup. Wrists and ankles are bound together.” I was crying and I let out an accidental sob.
“Shut up!” I heard from the front seat. I let silent tears fall.
We came to a stop. Oh no. I was brought into his house. Every year I spent there was terrible. I was paddled, spanked, abused, starved, and very very scared. It seemed like the years hadn’t passed but they did. I was now 15 and I had more strength than before. One day the man, (I found his name on a paper!) Jeffery Brown, went out to the super market. He lived deep in the woods. Once he left I scooted over to a pair of rusty scissors I was eyeing since day one. I got them in my hands and sawed through the ropes on my wrists, then my ankles. As quick as possible, I took off to the nearest road. I was going to be free! Maybe.
Rhi’s Point of View
“Mom?” I said.
“What?” She answered
“I miss Julie. It’s been 4 years since she was… abducted,” I mumbled.
“It’s okay honey. You, Julie’s Mother, Carmelo, and I have still not given up hope on finding her,” she assured me.
“Thanks mom,” I said with tears in my eyes. “Do you think she’ll come back?”
“There’s a chance honey, there’s a chance.” She murmured to me. I smiled through the tears.
Julie’s Point of View
I heard sirens whirring as I was outside on the road. My legs hurt from running from the child abducter. I walked quickly down the road and waved down the police car. There was a picture of a young girl taped to his windshield. He rolled down the window. “Hello little lady I’m Grover__ ,” he gasped and looked from the picture to me and back again. “Are you Julie Furtado?!” he asked buoyantly.
“Why yes! Yes I am!” I said excitedly, “Why?”
“You’re the girl that went missing 4 years ago when you were 11!” he exclaimed.
“Was there a search party for me?” I asked happily.
“Yes little lady!” he said. “You can thank your friend,” he pulled up a piece of paper, “Rhiannon Joe for setting up the search.”
“Rhi! Oh my gosh Rhi!” I yelled in excitement. “I can’t wait to get home!”
“Julie, your home is all the way in California…” Grover started. I cut him off.
“What do you mean ‘all the way in California’? Aren’t we in California?!” I squeaked.
“Well, no.” he said. “We’re in Florida.”
“FLORIDA?! That guy took me all the way to Florida?!” I shrieked. “You can take me home can’t you?” I asked worried.
“I can’t drive you home but I can give you a plane ticket to California.” Grover said. “Let’s call your mother first and tell her when to pick you up at the airport.”
“Ooh! Thank you so much!” I smiled.
“You’re very welcome,” he said.
“Also I somehow managed to get the name of the man who captured me.” I said plainly. The man’s expression was so shocked that his chin could have fallen out the window.
“Could you please tell me?” he asked excited and jittery.
“Yeah, Jeffery Brown,” I said.
“Thank you, hop in.” he patted the passenger’s seat.
I jumped in the car. I was going home. Before I knew it, I was on the plane waving my final goodbye to Grover.
