{Prolouge}
It was the first October after my family had moved me into our new town. My brother, Samuel, and I were arguing.
"D*mmit, Jess, just f**king stop it already!"
I didn't want to fight, but being the idiot I am, I answered him. "Oh, I should stop it, hmm? I'm not the one who got into a fight almost got killed and won't even try to tell someone about it! You need help! You said he said he was going to kill you."
"I can protect myself!"
"Sammy, you're only thirteen! This guy is six-fricking-teen, and you said he had a knife. What if he followed you? What if he knows where we live? It's our third month here, and you've already f**ked everything up."
As soon as I said it, I knew I shouldn't have. Samuel's face filled with anger and his eyes had tears in them. He turned and punched the wall with a sickening crack and then rushed from my room.
What had I done?
