I don't think there's a certain age. Your parents need to realize that you are who you are and nothing will change that. You're beautiful, intelligent, sweet and one of a kind. Stay true to yourself and don't let what anyone says about you bother you. Good made you this way for a reason don't stray from his plan. <3

I really don't have any tips on you with your parents, but I can wish you the best of luck.

Also, I'd like to say, never be afraid to be who you are. People are going to hate you, but that shouldn't let them stand in your way. My sister has always hated on gays, and it's offended me very much. Just know that you're never truely alone.
