Well guessing form what you just said, I guess he was confused as well. so he prolly thought like if he kissed you maybe he'd feel that spark again .. But he didn't. Even if this was the deal, its still unjustifiable..

Well that was stupid of him. He probably just got scared you maybe would think you hadn't been dating/known eachother for long enough or that you didn't like it? My first boyfriend kissed me on our first date and then he kept saying sorry because he thought it was too early and I didn't want him to. So maybe he felt the same? That or he's just a major jerk..
