The Things You Don't Know
Chapter Two, Part
1
I got to my locker and my phone said 7:07. As I looked up from my
bad I saw a boy with jet black hair holding a huge black shirt
with a green 9 on the back standing in front of my locker.
I stopped in front of him and he said
"I couldn't wait three more minutes. So anyway, this is
my backup jersey you can wear today." Matt smiled.
"Thanks." I gave my most
manageable smile as I dropped my bag to open my locker. I took my
black sweater off, stuck it on a shelf in my locker, and slipped
the jersey on. I was so happy the shade of my shirt matched the
green of the jersey. (We're the Westwood High Serpents, so
green and black are our colors.) But oh man, his number is 9.
I turned around and Matt said,
"Wow, my jersey looks way better on you than on me." He
blushed slightly.
I smiled. "Thanks, Matt."
He leaned forward and gave me a hug.
"The game starts at 7 tonight. I'll see you later,
Em!" He smiled and then turned to walk away. I turned back
to my locker, exchanged books, closed the locker, and smiled to
myself as I started to walk away.

"WELL I SAID NO!"
"BUT I NEVER GET TO DO
ANYTHING!"
"I DON'T CARE! I'M NOT
BRINGING YOU!"
"BUT MOM I - "
Yup. I said the 'b' word. So it
happened again. I knew I should've dropped it and gone
upstairs for a while. I'm so stupid. It's like I invite
her to do it. When she finally finished, she went out to the car
and drove to the bar. Of course. Where else would she be? It is
Friday night after all. So I went upstairs, put on some make-up,
and then went downstairs and out the door. I started walking down
the street towards the game. I couldn't stay in that house,
and I couldn't miss the game.
