Sing
Chapter
Eight
I woke feeling
groggy, and when I sat up I first noticed how sore I felt.
"Morning, sleepy head."
I blinked, and Daniel came into view.
"Er, Hi."
He looked gravely at me, "Mary. How do you feel?"
I stretched out my limbs, noting silently that I was laying down
on his couch, in the empty art room.
Every joint felt stiff and achy.
"I hurt." He nodded, "I figured. I didn't mean
to push you so hard, but if I didn't get you out of the
way-"
He broke off with a sickening sounding half sob. He cleared his
throat, "Well you're better now."
He handed me a mug of something steaming, I sipped it
gratefully.
"How did you find me?" I asked him. He averted my eyes,
"I couldn't just let you walk out of here."
"You saved my life." I said quietly. He shrugged,
"Maybe."
I sat up slowly and put my tea down.
I wrapped both arms around his neck and slowly guided his lips to
mine. "Yes, you did."
I murmured into his mouth.
His hands roamed free, and then locked onto my waist. He pulled
me up and onto his lap.
We stopped for a breath and he buried his face in my neck.
"Daniel Layne." I whispered into his ear.
His body shook with a small shiver, and he nipped my earlobe.
"Yes, Mary?" I responded by connecting our lips
again.
He pulled away for a moment.
"This sounds so cliche, but do you want to be my
girlfriend?"
I giggled and hugged him tightly. "Yes yes and
yes."
He let out a sigh of relief, "Thank you."
And we kissed again and again and again.
...
