Stormy Night

Chapter | Two

I've always heard that when you die, your life flashes before you.
Personally, I don't believe it
.

TWO YEARS LATER

My mom called for me to wake up just as my alarm sounded off. I groaned but stood up and let my long auburn hair fall behind me. I changed fast into short denim shorts and a blue and orange loose sweater. I laced my converse and grabbed my bag, because I knew in exactly 3 minutes my best friend Lindsay would be pulling up in front of my house to give me a ride to school.
"Have a good day, Melanie." My mom said to me, as I walked through the kitchen. I smiled dully and patted my littler sister, Emily, on the head before shutting the door behind me. I walked a little down the side walk and lit up a cigarette, taking a drag before I heard the smooth engine of Lindsay's BMW. 16th Birthday present. We, (All of us) Are so spoiled.
She honked once and I tossed the unfinished smoke to the ground
and ran to the passenger side. I hopped in and we took off.
"I saw that missy!" Lindsay said, I smiled. Leah complained from the back, "Why does she always get the passenger side?" I stuck my tongue out at her, "Because I'm amazing. Bagels?" I asked hopefully, Leah tossed me a muffin instead and Linds pointed to a chai tea in the cup holder.
" We wouldn't forget!" I munched happily. "So, sleep over tonight? Whose house?" We stopped to pick up another one of us. (We have a little group.) I grinned as Sara climbed in the car, "Hey hotties, Muffins? For me? You shouldn't have!" She grabbed a muffin from the brown bag and licked her lips happily. "Love you guys. Mmm." "Where's Bella?" Lindsay asked,
as if she'd only just noticed her absence. "Sick as f*ck." I laughed and we pulled into the last of the senior parking spots, beating Miranda Corbin to it. She honked angrily and drove off to park down the street like everyone else. ''My house for sure." Lindsay said, and we all stepped out of the car.
By now, I was used to all of the looks we got. I mean, we were all pretty and likeable. Now just because I'm 'one of those girls' as you say, doesn't mean i'm a b*tch. Because trust me, I've been on the bad end of the food chain before. But of course, with a bit of hard work, I ended up right on top. Where I deserve to be.
My boyfriend, Aaron Looke, walked up by my side and grabbed my hand in his. He planted one on my unsuspecting face, and I had to descreetly wipe my mouth after it.
That was something I didn't like, his kissing. But I'd been in love with this boy since the third grade and I was not letting him slip through my fingers.
"Melanieee, come on." Lindsay moaned, intertwining our fingers and pulling me along. Aaron kissed me again and walked off with his friends.
