I Thought I Lost

Kelsey's
POV
I sat in class watching the
teacher write on the board. I felt a finger touch my shoulder. I
turned around and a boy looking at me.
"Do you have a pencil I can borrow?" he asked me.
I gave him the pencil that was in my hand, and turned back
around.
I grabbed another pencil from my pencil case and continued
to watch the teacher. The next day, that same boy was sitting at
the desk next to me.
"Hi I'm Josh," he says.
"Hi, I'm Kelsey," I reply.
I was only in third grade. We continued talking for the rest of
the day, and we became best friends by lunch.
"I'm moving," he says simply.
I was at Josh's house and I was sitting on his bed with him,
I was now 13, and in eighth grade.
"What?" I felt tears filling my eyes.
"My dad got a promotion, we have to move to New York
City," he explains.
We live in a small town in Colorado.
That's when all the tears
started to come out. Josh pulled me into a big, that sent shivers
down my spine. I've always liked Josh in a way that was more
than friends, but I knew he didn't feel the same
way.
"Shh, it's ok," he
says, resting his chin on my head, "were going to stay in
touch. No matter what!"
I don't know why, but we
didn't stay in touch. I never know if I will ever see Josh
again. But, he will always have a place in my heart.
