I thought you were my friend.
The mistakes I made were not important.
I was me, and that's all I ever wanted.
I was born, and I could not blink with one eye.
The skin was not connected.
I went to an eye doctor when I just turned 1.
He helped me... after surgery, I could blink.
I was finally normal.
Or maybe not...
I was asked repeatedly what happened to my eye.
Why it didnt look 'right'.
Everyone told me "you cant even tell."
Then why did you ask?
It is still an insecurity to do this day.
I lived with it, and embraced it.
Its nothing to be afraid of.
Then, just looking through my friends tweets.
She just got a twitter.
I dont have one yet.
She retweeted "I dont like a girl without eyelids."
Sure, it was a joke to the guy.
He does not know me.
I do have eyelids.
But what does she do?
Someone asks her why she retweeted it, a 9th grader.
She said uh...Paige.
Me.
They laughed about it..said I would die if I saw it.
Said they would block me if I made one..lol.
Jokes not so funny, is it?
Little did they know they broke my self confidence.
Hurt me.
My friend I knew since kindergarten said that.
What a friend.
So listen, please.
I have feelings, we all do.
Everyone deserves to feel beautiful.
Just listen.
Learn.
Embrace individiulaity.
I should feel beautiful..no matter what people
say.
