The Truth Comes Out Eventually

Chapter 8

I straighten my long brown hair and put my green hat over it. I put on my long white shirt and black skirt. I put on some gold eye shadow and light pink blush. By now it's about 11:00. I have to work at 11:15. I leave my room and walk through our living room. Ben's not here and his door's shut, so he's either at the cafe already or in his room, but I could care less. I walk out of our room and get into my car. I feel my phone vibrate in my purse, Becky's calling me. I answer, "Hey Becky!" "Hey birthday girl! Have you left for work yet?" I know this is all for the party. "Just about to leave now be there in 15 minutes." I put the key in the ignition. "Alrighty! See you soon!" I hang up and start driving. I pull into the parking lot and park the car. I see Becky running up to my car and I can't help but laugh. Her short blonde hair bounces up and down as she runs. I get out of the car and she gives me a hug. "Happy birthday!!" She lets go of me and guides me to the door. "Close your eyes!" So I play along and close them. She leads me into the cafe and tells me to open my eyes. As I do everyone yells "Surprise!" I smile, "Aw thanks everyone!" I look at Becky, shes beaming, "Did you do all this?" I ask. "Nope! The other workers, Steve, Marty, and Janet helped me too!" I laugh, "Well thanks so much!" I give her a hug and walk around. I say hi to everyone until I find Ben. He gives me a hug. "Happy birthday." I smile, "Thanks Ben, and sorry about this morning." I look down. "Hey, it's  ok don't worry. But Brett's over there if you want to see him." "Thanks", I say as I walk in the direction he pointed. I stop in my tracks as I see him making out with another girl.
