The Truth Comes Out Eventually

Chapter 5

 I sigh and look at the clock, 6:30. Brett will be here in a half hour. I wonder if he'll remember my 22nd birthday's tomorrow, probably not. I have to work tomorrow anyways. But I need to make something for Brett to eat or he'll flip out. I open our fridge, I'm gonna make my special homemade pizza. I grab the dough, shredded cheese, and a can of sauce. I take out my pizza pan and start spreading the white, fluffy dough out onto it. I open the can of sauce and spread it out on top of the dough. When that's done, I open the package of cheese and sprinkle some on top of the sauce. I open up our oven, put the pizza in, and set the oven to 350 degrees. "Yum making pizza?" I turn around and Ben's standing there leaning in the doorway. "Yes I am, it's my special pizza." I wink at him. He laughs. "Oh I bet it tastes great!" "Yes it does! It will be done in about 20 minutes." I hear the door open and Brett walks in and sits down on the couch. He looks at me and pats the space couch next to him. I walk over and sit down. He glares at Ben and Ben goes into his room. "Look baby I'm sorry for what I did, I just had a few beers." He still reeks of alcohol. "It's ok." I don't even look at him. He puts  his muscular arm around me and I tense up, afraid he will hurt me. "Relax babe." He grabs my chin lifts it to his face and kisses me. "I'm making pizza." I say so it's not silent. "I'm not hungry." He takes his arm from around my shoulders and puts his feet on the coffee table. "Oh, Ok. I still have to take it out before it burns." He doesn't even look at me. "Yea whatever. Your pizza tastes like crap anyways." I don't say anything just get up, go to the kitchen, and take out the pizza. I personally think it's good. When I put the pan down I see a hand reach for a piece. I look up, its Ben. He takes a bite and says, "I think it's good."
