Summer of the Swan

Chapter 2
-------------------------------------
We got to the camp soon after I dozed off in the bus, or it seemed like few minutes had passed.
I grabbed my bags from the pile of bags.
There were about five buses filled with teenagers. Loud teenagers.
I just wanted to go to the cabin and turn on my iPod so I could run away.
But there were no iPods allowed, or anything of that sort.
And this was my "detox" camp. I needed to make friends.
I was so used to not have any, that now it seemed like it was normal for me to curl up in my bed with my iPod.
Socialization of any kind didn't call my attention.
But I promised myself that this time it would be different.
I promised myself that I could make friends.
For once, I wanted to be accepted. I wanted to fit in.
My eyes wandered around a little and then I noticed a bunch of people gathered around the pile of bags.
I avoided the drama that could be happening and walked over to a camp guide.
"Hey, my name is Corinne Parker. I was wondering if you know which cabin I'm assigned in?" I said with a smile, trying to be as polite as I could.
She smiled back and replied with, "Hi Corinne! Yes sure, just let me check on my list."
I waited awkwardly beside her, as I shuffled my feet and looked around.
Something caught my attention though.
The people gathering around the bags weren't there anymore.
They weren't scattered around either. They were gone.
The whole group of people was gone.
"Corinne?"
"Y-yes? Sorry, I'm a little, uh, distracted," I said with a shaky smile.
"That's okay! But anyway, your cabin is cabin number 4. You can leave your bags there if you want to," she said smiling widely.
I agreed and thanked her, then grabbed my bags so I could take them to the cabin.
I was walking clumsily because of the weight of my bags.
I crashed against someone, and by the sound that person proceeded to create, I had assumed that he or she fell down.
I looked down and saw Aaron, the boy from the bus.
"I'm so sorry! I wasn't watchig. I'm so sorry," I said as I helped him up.
He mantained his eyes in front.
I didn't understand why he had to stare into nowhere while he talked.
I got many dirty looks after I accidentally made Aaron fall.
"It's okay, really. Don't worry about it, I wasn't looking either."
