Love Has It's Ways
I
knew that I loved Liam. He was my everthing. We were best friends,
and he was the love of my life. I have been imagining life with us
as a couple forever. We have been dating for three months now. But
nothing has been going my way lately.
My parents rented a house in Cape Cod for two weeks this summer.
Two weeks without Liam. I think I might die.
When we finally arrived in the Cape, after the four hour drive from
Vermont, where we live, I was exhausted. I was planning on sitting
on my bed and moping until this vacation was over, but I had no
such luck.
Mom walked in, literally, just as I was about to text Liam, whom
she doesn't know about.
"Cassidy." She looked at me, already with an
attitude.
"Yes?" I asked
"You are not going to sit around in this room all vacation. We
are a beautiful place, on the water. Listen, there is a path next
to the house, follow it and it brings you to a park, part of a
development called Harbor Waves. Go check it out. I talked
to the owner, and she said that's where all the kids hang out.
Go meet someone!" She was beaming.
I made a face at her. It was 1965. You can't just bounce around
and expect any group of kids to just pick you up and let you hang
out with them.
"Cassidy. I changed my mind. This isn't an option. Go,
have fun!"
Was she for real? Whatever. Sitting around with my parents was
worse than walking around. Maybe I could call Liam on my way to the
park.
"Okay. I'll go." I said.
"Perfect! Have your phone?"
I never go anywhere without my phone.
"Yes, mother."
"Watch it, Cassidy."
"Bye."
"Bye cutie!" She cried after me. Oh,
gawd.
Love Has It's Ways I knew that I loved Liam. He was my everthing.
