-Star of my Sea-
Stella’s POV
“Dad?” I yell over the
wind. I swear, I’m turning green. I know that Liana spiked
my coke last night. “Dad, I don’t feel
great.”
“What?” he says, “What’s
wrong?”
“I feel like I’m gonna throw up,” I clutch the
sides of the boat for support.
“Okay, okay…” he sighs, reluctant.
“We’ll dock now. Chill, pet,” Dad continues to
speed out towards Harte Island.
“Dad! DAD!!! Let me out!” I am seriously going to
throw up now.
“Stella, you need to calm—“his protests are cut
off by me throwing up my guts over the side of our boat.
“Stella, you okay? It must have been something you ate.
Let’s get back to the harbour.”
I nod weakly. “Thanks for stopping,” I say
sarcastically.
He rolls his eyes, but a grin softens his look. “It’s
bedtime when we go home, Stell!”
You wouldn’t believe how happy I was to hear that.

I’m lying in my darkened room when my phone buzzes.
Roger Mc Dermott
Hi JI know
you’re probably not expecting this and you don’t have
to say yes but do you want to go for ice-cream tomorrow?
It’s on me J
Oh, Christ. Now I have to shoot him down because I’m sick.
You wouldn’t believe how long I’ve waited for
this!
To Roger Mc Dermott
Hiya, Roger Jyou
wouldn’t believe how much I want to but I’m sick
LI think someone
(cough, cough, Liana) spiked my drink last night. And I had
sailing this morning. Another time, maybe we can do it?
I press send and hope for the best.
Liana’s POV
That night I sneak out again; by going out through Sam’s
window (he’s having a sleepover with his friend Harry).
I head down the tumbling cliff walk and make to Moonlight Bay. I
just sit and watch the waves, in complete silence. This is
character building, I think to myself. Plus, I brought snacks! I
munch the packet of Hula Hoops I brought.
My BlackBerry buzzes.
James J
Can you meet me on the Boardwalk? I have something for you
J
It’s half ten at night. The nightlife on the Boardwalk is
still buzzing, so at least I’m not meeting him alone, or
anything. I punch in my reply, dust myself off and shuffle back
up to the Boardwalk.
I see him in front of Peggy’s before he sees me. The lights
are on and it’s still vaguely light, so I creep up behind
him and put my hands on his shoulders. He screams like a little
girl.
“Liana…, what the hell!” he grins. “We
just closed up. You forgot this,” he sticks his hands out,
offering me the “DIVA” bracelet I’d never even
noticed I’d missed.
I laugh. “Thanks. Oh, God that’s embarrassing,”
I pocket it and look at him. “It’s a nice night,
eh?”
“Beautiful,” he looks up at the sky, at the steaks of
orange, light pink and heavenly cyan.
“I have a packet of Hula Hoops. Wanna join me?”
“What?... Where…?” James questions, looking
baffled.
“Moonlight Bay,” I look at the ground. “Do you
want to join me?”
