I got home to my empty large
house, and took in the silence. " It was
always like this" i thought to myself. i
called my dog- "Maya, come here
girl." Soon i heard her long claw like
nails on the tile floors, and i smiled as she
came trotting over. i bent down and pet her
behind her ears. She licked my face and i
laughed. "Gosh, you're so dependable
and loyal" i said to her in that high,
sing-songy voice. That statement made me think
of Thalia, and i glanced at the grand clock in
the hall way. 6:49. i stood up and looked down
at my dog. "what do you say girl? Do you
want to head out to the park with me?"
Maya cocked her head and barked. "yeah, i
thought so." i grabbed my keys again, and
with Maya bounding behind me, we both got into
the car and sped down the road.

i got the the huge park right at 7:00, and i
hoped that Thalia hadnt forgotten. i took
Maya's leash in my hand i started on the
trail connecting to the parking lot. All of a
sudden i heard a guitar over the childrens
screams and laughs on the playset, and i
followed the sound to the pond... i saw her.
Her dreadlocks hanging down her back, and the
tie-dyed shirt gave her away. She was sitting
near the edge, playing guitar to 'Dust
in the Wind' by Kansas. After the
first few chords, she began to softly sing. It
was one of the most beautiful sounds i had ever
heard. Soon, i found myself humming a long, and
i joined her at the chorus. It reminded me of
in Sleeping Beauty, when the Prince
joined the princess' singing in the woods.
She imediatly stopped singing and turned to
look at me. i smiled and she blushed.
"there was no need to stop, you have a
great voice." i told her. she let out a
breathy, single laugh. "Thanks." she
got up and dusted off the seat of her pants and
looked at Maya and smiled. "You brought a
friend?" she questioned as she bend down.
"Yeah, i have to warn you she isnt very
friendly to stran-.." Maya was licking
Thalia's face and rubbing her big body
along her legs and arms. "She seems pretty
friendly" she said while laughing. i
smiled. "Well, i guess she likes
you." i said outloud. i thought to
myself... "And shes not the only
one."
