Smile Chpt. 3
Everything is so blurry. I hear voices around me, and I can make out people, but I just can’t tell who they are. Then I hear my mom’s voice.
“I just wondered what happened.” I heard her whisper.
Then, I heard another voice replying to her. This wasn’t just any voice. It was his voice. The voice I had fallen in love with, the voice that I purposely pranked called on Friday night’s slumber parties just to hear. The voice that meant everything to me.
“I just saw her lying there. I was walking to school, and I took the long way. I looked down the alley as I walked by and I saw her. I’m so sorry Mrs. Green.” He started to quietly sob.
I really wanted to sit up and look at him, and say Thank you. But something wasn’t working. My vision was becoming clearer and I could finally make out where I was. A hospital, of course. My heart sank. I had just gotten out of the Hospital last week. My mom must’ve realized I was awake, because she jumped out of her chair and grabbed my hand.
“Oh, Honey, It’s OK. You’re gonna be alright.”
And then there he was. His hand, holding onto mine.
“Sarah! Oh my gosh, are you alright? I had no idea what happened to you. I just saw you lying there and then…” he trailed off. “I’m sorry. How are you feeling?” To be honest, I hadn’t really thought about it. I tried to sit up but the wires attached to my chest wouldn’t agree with that. Then I looked down and saw that I was just in a sheer hospital gown. Here I was, in a hospital, in front of my crush, with a see through hospital gown on.
“Sam?” I said, he looked up at me, “Can I just talk to my mom alone, for a second?”
“Um..yea..” He let go of my hand easily and then left the room.
“Mom, what happened?”
