Falling for my Bully
Summer goes by in a blink of an eye.
Before I know it, I am already waking up to the sound of my
alarm. With my eyes half-closed, I sit up, sure that my hair is
sticking out everywhere, before silencing my cellphone. With a
sigh, I get out of my bed and walk inside my bathroom. The first
thing I see is my reflection.
Brown eyes, brown hair, light skin and normal build. Nothing
special. I am simply Hayden Campbell, a sixteen-year-old girl who
just wants to live her life peacefully.
But no, it can't be that way.
Every day, I have to walk into school and be called names, shoved
out of the way and laughed at. And just because the most
popular guy at my school is also called Hayden.
I shake my head, the face of the boy who makes my life impossible
everyday flashing in my mind. The first time I saw him was when I
was in fifth grade. We sat next to each other, and, since
he's name's also Hayden, the entire class used to laugh
at him for having the same name as a girl's. Not to mention
he wasn't so good-looking back then.
After getting ready, I lazily walk down the stairs when suddenly,
I feel my right foot get entangled with the rug. The next thing I
know, I'm falling face flat to the wooden ground.
"Ow," I sigh.
I can hear my older brother laughing, so I look up, ready to
glare at him. To my despair, though, his friend is also here. I
can tell he's stifling a giggle. Glaring at my brother, I
quickly get up and grab a piece of bread.
"See ya later!" my brother calls out before I slam the
door behind him.
Today I'm not in a good mood. That's usual whenever
it's the first day of school.
I quickly arrive at my high school and make my way down the
hallway. Quickly finding my two friends, the Jenner twins, I
smile (probably the only time I will that day) before making my
way toward them.
"Hey, guys!" I call out.
But they aren't smiling.
With a frown, I ask them what's wrong.
"You'll see," Kylie tells me, motioning her brother
that's time to go.
Kyle gives me a pitying glance before walking away.
I shake my head, turning to my locker. "Those
two..."
Before I can open it though, I feel someone stand behind me.
Slowly, I turn around... just to find Hayden Hawthorne.
I am so lucky.
Hayden crosses his arms, looking down at me. "So we're
locker buddies."
My face distorts with confusion. "Wha..."
And to my dismay, Hayden opens the locker next to mine.
I don't even try to show the displeasure on my face.
Hayden hands me a fake smile. "I'm sure we'll have a
great time seeing each other everyday... here."
I'm sure I look ridiculous and defeated now. Guess the
bullying won't stop this year like I hoped... luckily,
I'm already used to it.
But I certainly don't expect what's coming next.
Dave Tanner comes up to me and greets me the usual way --shoving
me. But this time, he pushed a tad bit too hard.
Before I know it, I loose my balance. I try to prevent the fall,
but things get worse. Now I'm falling toward Hayden.
Hayden's blue eyes widen as I fall into his arms. He slightly
falls back, hitting his head with the open locker behind him.
"What's wrong with you?" he exclaims, rubbing his
hand on the back of his head.
I quickly step back, realizing how close we were.
"Weirdo," he murmurs, before heading to his next class.
Dave and his buddies follow behind.
And I just stand there, looking like an idiot with my mouth open
and my eyes wide. But I have a good reason for it.
I just realized how nice his eyes were looking at.
