Torn In
Between
Chapter
6:
I turned, and Kristian Jones, a cute nerdy
blonde headed boy, was standing behind me with two fishing poles
in his hand. “Here” he said, handing me a fishing
pole, already bated. I threw the line out in the water, and the
poor worm sunk to the bottom. “Heard about your uh..
predicament last night..” he said.
I shrugged. “Yeah what about
it?” I asked. He paused, looking for the right words,
“Nothing. Everyone was talking about how it was the alcohol
at the party but I think it was something else” he said.
“It was a panic attack” I lied. I hated lying to
people, but if they knew about my visions then they would bug me
about it.
He shook his head and laughed. “No
it wasn’t I’m like a walking lie detector Cassidy.
I’d rather you tell me than some other girl that knows
little to nothing about it and is wanting to start crap.. You can
trust me. I promise” he said.
I sighed, and shook my head. I told him
exactly what happened, and then there was a jerk in his line. He
picked it up, reeled in the line, and a shiny green bass, came
emerging from the water.
He took it off the hook, and dropped it in
the bucket he brought with him. “Ya know? Everyone here has
a power. That’s why you were brought here by your parents.
No one finds out there powers until they stay here for a few
days” he said.
I looked around. “Surprise,
surprise… The guardians hide something else from
me!” I said, laughing, and jerking in the line out of the
water. He shook his head. “Well they’re not supposed
to tell you. They’re supposed to just send you
here”.
He was so smart. It seemed that he knew
everything. “So what’s your power?” I asked, on
the way back to my dorm. “Walking lie detector…
Remember?” he said, pointing to his head.
I grabbed the heavy knocker on the dorm
door and banged, three times. The door opened, and Blake was
alone on his bed. “You hungry?” he asked. “Heck
yeah!” I said. He motioned for me to follow him out the
door.
