The Perfect Family; Chapter
32
*5 months later*
"Wake up Ari, today's the day!" Sam shakes me
awake. Today we're going to find out the gender of the baby.
I'm so excited.
I get dressed sort of fancy and we get into the car.
It takes about 20 minutes to get to the hospital. Sam walks up to
talk to the nurse, and I sit next to an old lady.
"Hi!" I cheerily say.
"What? Oh, hello dear." she sweetly replies. "What
are you here for?"
"Oh, I'm here to find out the gender of my baby." I
reply, patting my stomach. "You?"
"I'm here to see my husband. He was diagnosed with
cancer a few years ago, and I'm afraid he's
losing."
"I'm so sorry."
"It's alright dear. Like they say, all good things come
to an end sometime."
"How long have you two been married?"
"65 years. It's been a long ride, and I guess now
it's coming to an end." she whispers as a tear slips
down her cheek. "I'm Annie, by the way."
"I'm Ari."
"Well, it looks like your man is coming back now. I'll
be here when you come out. Make sure to tell me what you're
having. Good luck dear!" she tells me as Sam comes back. I
hug her and walk to meet Sam.
"Who was that?" Sam asks.
"Annie." I tell him about her as we walk to the
ultrasound room.
~a few hours later~
"Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Johnson, you're having a
baby boy and a baby girl!" the nurse announces. I beam and
Sam grins.
