Out
Of
Nowhere
Sequel to "More Than
Friends"
Chapter 39
I sat down next to Jaclyn and Bobby
and we discussed our lunch plans.
Just then, Ben finally
walked up to us, Dierdre in tow.
Great.
“Hey, Ben,
we’re going up to the house and Bobby’s grilling for
lunch. Are you ready to go back up?” Jaclyn
asked.
We all looked up at Ben
and awaited an answer.
Dierdre squeezed
Ben’s hand harder and bit her bottom lip.
“Um, actually me
and Dierdre were gonna go out,” he murmured, avoiding eye
contact with me.
I looked at Jaclyn, who
gave me an “I’m sorry, girlfriend”
look.
“Whatever man, suit
yourself,” Bobby said, shaking his head.
He looked like he knew
something that I didn’t know.
Like he knew that Dierdre
was bringing everything back to Ben that Ben tried to get rid of
before.
We all got up and packed
up our things into our beach bags, Ben included.
Dierdre stood there the
whole time, staring me down.
I could feel the hot
tension between us. I was not comfortable with her at
all.
“So, I guess
we’ll see you later then?” I said to Ben when we were
all finished.
He gave a small nod.
“See you later,” he muttered.
He didn’t even look
at me.
I felt my heart breaking.
I thought he loved me. We were so happy a few hours
ago.
Now I feel so distanced
from him.
We began to walk up the
beach to go back to the house.
I turned around one last
time to get a look at Ben, but him and Dierdre were smiling at
each other and walking towards a beachside restaurant.
I turned back around and
crossed my arms tightly over my chest.
I wish Jared was here
right now. I needed someone to talk to.
Ben’s
POV
I looked back up at
Lindsey, who was somberly walking up the beach.
She looked
hurt.
I felt a tug on my heart.
I felt bad leaving her for Dierdre.
But I discovered that I
missed Dierdre.
I tried to cover it up
for so long, and I convinced myself to hate her.
When I still really love
her.
But I love Lindsey too.
Maybe more than Dierdre.
Maybe less.
I guess I just have to
figure things out.
“Wow Dierge.
It’s been such a long time since I’ve held this thin
little hand of yours,” I said.
She giggled and swung my
hand up and down.
“I miss you Ben.
It’s been a while,” she said, looking straight
ahead.
She looked more beautiful
than ever.
“Whatever happened
to us, Dierge?” I asked, although I already knew the
answer.
She cheated on
you.
“I don’t
know,” she whispered, looking down at the sand. “I
don’t know.”
For anyone who doesn't know, Dierdre's name is
pronounced DEER-druh. And her nickname is Dierge. Just didn't
want anyone getting confused.
Thanks for reading, I know my posts have been very off-and-on.
Love you!
