*Short story*
Jared rolled the suitcase out of our room. He shot me
a quick smile, and said to his mom, "Yes. We
have everything. I have to go now. Love yah mom." I
blew a kiss at him. "Oh, and Karla loves you
too."
I jogged out to the car, buckling in quickly as Jared
turned the key in the ignition.
"Ready, love?"
"More than ready! I'm so excited, finally a cabin to
ourselves!"
Jared and I have been dating for over two years now, and we
had finally rented a small cabin by a lake for a few
nights.
As the hours flew by in the car, Jared and I never got
tired of talking. His fingers gently held mine as we talked
about out furture.
I finally started to get tired, and I rested my head on his
shoulder.
"Hey! Don't fall asleep! We'll be there soon, and I
don't want to have to talk to myself."
"Ugh, but will you sing to me to keep me
awake?"
"Oh fine.." He hummed to get the melody, and then
finally his beautiful voice sang through the car. My
favorite song; Drops of Jupiter, by Train. We turned onto a
long road, it almost look like it wasn't used in years.
We saw the lake to our right, right under a
cliff.
"Look! That's it!" He turned his head towards me,
and his loose brown curls bounced, his beautiful green
eyes starring into my blue ones.
Suddenly the car bumped, Jared swerved and off the road, we
went flying into the ditch next to the cliff. Jared let go of
the stearing wheel, wrapping his arms around me as
the car flipped down the hill; metal crunching and
glass breaking.
I opened my eyes to find myself on a bed of leaves,
starring up at the pinkish blue sky.
"JARED?! WHERE ARE YOU?!" There was no reply. I
got on my hands and knees, a sharp pain in my side. Looking
down, I saw blood on me everywhere. And then I saw him.
Jared, laying down, his eyes slightly open. His clothes
blood stained, and shards of glass poking out of his now
pale skin.
"JARED!"
"Shh baby, please don't cry." He said in a strained
voice full of pain. He reached up and stroked my arm,
leaving a rail of blood from his fingers. I sucked in ragged
breaths, sobbing.
"Help will come soon..." But I knew I was lying,
there was no one around us.
"You need to go get help, you're
bleeding."
"No, I can't leave you..." I took his face in my
hands and whiped away one of his tears.
"Baby, you need to go get help. You're hurt." I
shook my head fiercly,
"I'm not leaving you! Someone will help and find us
-"
"I have to go now." Jared whispered. My eyes widened as
I realized what he meant. The tears came running faster, and I
didn't bother to wipe them.
"No Jared! YOU CAN'T LEAVE ME! I love you
too much. Please don't go..." Sweat glemed on his
face, tears streaming down both of our cheeks. His
voice was raspy, trying to hide the pain he was in.
"STAY WITH ME!" I screamed, as I ran my fingers
through his tangled curls.
"I love you Karla. So much." His chest moved up
and down a few more times, and finally stopped. His
grip on my hand loosed, and I let his fingers slip out of
mine. I laid there, and let the pain take over me. For
hours.
Hours.
And finally, looking at Jared, and said, "I'll see
you soon baby." I kissed his cold lips, and stroked
his pale face one last time. Standing up, I took my shoes
off, and walked to the edge of the cliff.
"I'll see you soon baby." I whispered again, as I
looked at the water below me. The jagged rocks poked
up through the surface, though you could barley see,
the sky had turned dark. I looked up at the shining
stars as I let my body fall towards the water.
"I'll see you soon."
