Chapter 15,
Jesse knocked on the door; I
answered it allowing my shoulders to tighten up.
“Don’t look
scared” he laughed “My mom said you wanted to see
me”
“Her idea” I said
allowing him to come in.
“Okay” he chuckled
looking around the room “You home alone?”
“Mom is upstairs” I
said sitting down on the sofa.
“I’m so sorry I hurt
you” Jesse said holding my hand between his “I love
you”
I remained silent and biting onto
my lip.
“I overreacted” I
said trying to let out a small smile.
“I shouldn’t have
looked at her” he said, I guess he was right.
“Well we can’t turn
time back now” I sighed “But”
“Yeah” he
said.
“We could do a restart like
meeting from the start” I said “I mean we
didn’t get on the best way”
“If that’s what you
want” his smile turned into a grin, my heart
melted.
“I do” I whispered
allowing my stomach to build into butterflies.
I stood up and looked outside to
the garden, it was sunny out.
“So how was your first day
of home school?” Jesse said standing next to me.
“Good” I smiled
“Your mom seems nice”
“She is around other
people” he chuckled “Around me she’s a
weirdo”
“She’s cool” I
said banging my hip against his.
“Don’t do that”
he said in a worried tone “Last time you did that you
fainted”
“I’m not going to
faint this time....see” I said spinning around.
“I know” he sighed
“I just don’t want to see you hurt”
“I’m not hurt”
I said hitting him.
“You have cancer,
Casey” he said now standing a few centimetres away from
me.
“And it’s not
contagious” I joked, I looked into his eyes and they looked
hurt.
“I’m sorry” he
said “I’m just trying to look out for
you”
“Well let me take care of
myself” I said walking towards him.
Our arms brushed against each
other.
He pulled his hands to around my
waist and pulled me up to my tiptoes.
We kissed, our fingers
intertwined.
For the first time I
experienced love.
