Cancer
Is My New Best Friend.
Chapter
11,
The waitress came up to us with our
drinks,
“My friend says you’re checking
me out” she said in a flirting tone.
“Well she’s wrong” he said
going red.
Anger filled my body; the waitress gave us
our drinks and walked off.
“We can both see you were checking her
out” I said looking away.
“I wasn’t” he smiled, that
smile that would make me fall for him.
Once again the waitress came towards
us.
“Have you chosen your food yet?”
she said looking impatient.
I could see she didn’t want to be
here.
“I’ll have the Spaghetti and
meatballs” I smiled at her awkwardly.
Jesse remained quiet.
“Can I take yours?” she said
trying to give out a smile.
Jesse looked at me then
sighed,
“I’ll have the T-Bone steak and
shrimp” he said handing his menu to the
waitress.
“I’m Layla and I’ll be your
waitress” she said tucking the notepad into her blue apron
“If you need me, just shout me or get one of my team
members, we’ll be happy to help”
“Thanks” I said giving a friendly
smile.
This was beginning to feel
awkward.
“Let’s just forget what’s
happened” I said looking at Jesse.
“Fine” he said in a moody
voice.
“Or we could just not” I said, he
sat up and stared at me.
Jesse was in deep thought I could see
it.
“I’ll leave” I protested
grabbing my bag.
“Don’t leave” Jesse
sighed.
“Cheer up then” I instructed
“If you don’t want to be happy then just
smile”
With that he let out a
smile.
“You do make me laugh” he said
grabbing my hand “So”
“Yeah?” I said running out of
things to say.
“How’s school?” he asked, I
didn’t want to talk about school.
“Boring” I smiled
“Yours?”
“Alright” he said playing with
his knife and fork.
“Maybe this is a mistake” I said
standing up.
“What?” Jesse said standing up,
people stared.
“We can’t even make
convocation” I said walking out.
I grabbed my cell phone out my bag and phoned
dad.
“Let me take you back” he said
looking worried.
“My dad’s coming” I said
sitting down on the bench outside.
“Well I’m waiting with you”
he said sitting next to me.
I remained quiet.
“Look I’m sorry for tonight,
I’ll make it up to you” he said.
“You won’t” I said standing
up to go to the car.
I got into the car and
cried.
