I heard beeping on the
machines.
I had no clue where I was, it was some
strange place.
My eyes began to open
slowly.
I felt hands touching mine.
“You’re awake” mom said
hovering over me.
“What happened?” I asked looking
around the room.
I knew where I was, the hospital
again.
This place was like a second home to
me.
“You fainted” dad said looking at
me, stroking my forehead.
“Can I go home?” I said trying to
sit up but someone stopped me.
I looked up it was Jesse.
“What are you doing here?” I said
in a soft voice.
“He refused to leave you” dad
said, dads head came closer to my ear “I think he likes
you”
The doctor came in, Jesse went to stand
inside.
“Jesse stay” I said smiling. He
looked at me and ran to the side of me.
“What is it doctor?” mom said
looking at me then back at me.
“We found a second cancer in her
lungs” the doctor said.
“So that’s why you were low on
breath” Jesse said moving closer to me.
“Can’t you give her some
medication?” mom said.
“Look we’re now battling two
cancers, it seems to be taking over her body” the doctor
said looking at me “I think its better that we go outside
and talk about this.”
“Stay, I want to hear” I said
looking at Dallas who let out a reassuring
smile.
“Casey I think its best mom and dad
just hears this” Dallas said.
“I agree” Jesse
said.
I bit my lip and closed my
eyes.
“Fine” I said “But
you’re letting me know afterwards”
Mom came back in the room crying and dad was
holding her.
“I’m dying” I
said.
“We’re sorry” mom said
crying into the hospital sheets.
“YOU PROMISED DALLAS” I screamed
while crying.
Dallas rushed out of the
room.
I didn’t mean to say
that.
“Mom, dad I didn’t mean to say
that” I said still crying.
“He’ll come back” dad said
holding my hand.
“I’ll go find him” Georgia
said bitterly.
“Did the doctor say how long I had
left?” I asked tilting my head.
“About 3 months” mom said wiping
her tears.
3 months to try and live my
life.
