"What has gotten into you, Mona?" My mother says.
"Yeah, what's been happening?" Eric butts in.
"You know exactly why, Eric. Get away from me you ra-"
"Hey, hey. Calm your tone."
"Aw, Eric, you don't want mom to know? Huh?"
"Know what?"
"Yeah mom. Your 'man' here, has been raping Sara."
Everyone got quiet for a minute.
"I-- I know." My mom tried to hold in tears.
"What?" Me and Eric say in unison.
"Why haven't you kicked him out?!"
"Because- Because I love him."
"Wow. Because you love him. You know what? Get the hell out of my way."
I ran upstairs into Sara's room.
She was on the floor in a fetal position, crying.
I picked her up from the floor. "Sara, where's your phone?"
"Here," she handed it to me, Her fingers were shaking.
I dialed Sara's bestfriend's number.
"Hello, this is Candie!"
Her real name was Candice, I don't know what the heck is wrong with that girl.
"Hey Candie, this is Sara's Big sister."
"Hey!"
"Is your mom home?"
"Yeah, why?"
"I wanna speak to her."
'Okay! One sec." --
"Hello?" "Hi, this is Sara's big sister."
"Oh Hi, dear!"
Candice's mom had a nice warming voice.
That's why I wanted Sara to stay with her.
I told her what was happening to Sara and asked her If Sara could stay.
'Of course, bring her over right now."
She sounded like she was In tears.
"Okay, thank you so much. Bye."
"Sara, pack your stuff, no questions, just start packing."
"Uh, okay."
I ran into my room and started packing my stuff.
I wasn't going to stay with anyone, I guess i'd just be homeless.
I walked Sara to 'Candie's house.
"Bye, I love you."
"Bye." I walked to Harry's house to say goodbye to him.
Harry was my best friend since kindergarten.
I'd probably die out there, so I just wanted to hug him before I left.
I knocked on the door.
After the second knock,
Shane opened the door.
"Hey."
"What's wrong?" He saw that i'd been crying.
"Nothing." I lied.
"Look, I'm leaving home, and, I won't be coming back, so, I just wanted to tell you that I'll miss yo-"
"Why are you leaving? No, i'm going with you."
"You can't. I don't want anything to happen to you,"
"And I don't want anything to happen to you. So i'm going. No ifs, ands, or buts."
"Fine."
"Wait at the park down the street, I'll be down there in a few minutes." "Okay."
